This was discussed a little while back, but it's almost guaranteed that it's being editor placed due to the content of the series.

I seriously doubt it's super popular literally everywhere else except for Japan. Speaking of popularity though, it appears to be the most popular WSJ manga on /r/manga.
Not Japan, but these could be not so popular between magazine readers.

After all, there should be a good amount of people who buy the magazine, but not the individual manga.

Of course, it is also pretty possible the editors have reasons to not put them higher.

I loved Kaiju No. 8's first chapter. We went straight into the action and the MC got a good amount of characterization. I can see why it was trending and I hope it comes to Manga+

Overall a decent batch, but I'm honestly kind of more interested in Jump Plus's new batch of series, seen below:

All 4 of these seem like they'd be interesting off the gate for me and built on top of that, whereas I had to learn more about the Jump stories to drum up interest. 3 times out of 4.
I agree. These Jump+ batch seem far more interesting than WSJ's latest batch.

Honestly I kind of want to see a manga about sports using actual powers. There's stuff like Prince of Tennis and Kuroko where the characters almost have superpowers, why not get rid of the pretense and go full sports/fantasy? Or something totally out there for Japan like Kabaddi.
Somewhat off topic but a manga called "Burning Kabaddi" from Ura Sunday just got announced for an anime! It seems to be very well received in Japan as well so if it goes well then we may have a good chance seeing a Kabaddi manga come to WSJ.

chapter 1
That was great. This was more interesting than any of the Jump series in this recent batch (and I liked some of them). I'm invested in the main lead, his motivations, and his relationships with the two characters we get focus on, and I wanna see them interact and develop more. The artwork is great, the moments of comedy are good, and the bits of action are cool, too. Even the world is has peaked my interest. It's definitely not the most original thing (the twist felt very Attack on Titan, for example), but it's such a complete and polished package that I don't care at all.

Fucking hell, I wanna read Chapter 2 now but it's not out yet. I can see why this was such a hit in Japan.

chapter 1
Yes! Thank you so much! I was recently talking about how I wanted to read this when it was translated. As for the chapter itself, It was really awesome! I already like Kafka as a protagonist and I’m interested to learn more about Mina and Ichikawa. The Kaijuu stuff was really cool, and it felt quite different from Attack On Titan which is nice. Then, the twist at the end I thought was funny and sets up a lot. Overall, a fantastic first chapter for me! I just hope that with the twist at the end it doesn’t end up being like AOT with him being essentially useless without THAT form. (Not saying anything that contains spoilers for those who want to read it.)

Can anyone with an actual Jump issue in hand confirm to me if Jump still has a section on sports? I recall seeing one in a video but I want to know if they still do that.

Quick question: 8Kaijuu’s mangaka doesn’t belong in Horikoshi’s assistant tree right?

I think she was Horikoshi's former assistant.

If that’s true, then no wonder.
No wonder what? I'm curious now.

Cause to be honest, this first Kaiju No. 8 chapter kind of felt like HeroAca's to me in which both had extremely strong starts that really had me invested almost right out the gate. Also, the MCs's motivations and situations do feel similar in some respects.

Finally got to read 8Kaijuu, not bad at all and the art is nice so we are going for the Shingeki/Tokyo Ghoul route of the Mc becoming the thing he hates with a passion can see potential in this, Tho kinda felt it was a bit overhyped.

Nevertheless I wanna See we’re things go, having a kaijuu manga could be fun. I can see how the artist was a former assistant of Hori lol

Since I remember someone asking a few days ago, I looked up the new Manga Plus IDs. Although I have to disappoint you that they barely tell anything this time.

My Hero Academia no new IDs yet (Ch.277 is right after the last two chapters IDs, probably because there was still one ID left)
Black Clover no new IDs yet (same as MHA)
One Piece 7305-7306 (2 IDs)
Jujutsu Kaisen 7307-7309
open slot 7310-7312 (I'm guessing either MHA or BC will occupy this slot once the next chapter drops)
Haikyuu 7313-7315
open slot 7316-7318 (again either MHA or BC will probably occupy this slot)
We Never Learn 7319-7321
Dr. Stone 7322-7324
Act-Age 7325-7327
Chainsaw Man 7328-7330
Yozakura Family 7331-7333
Mitama Security 7334-7336
Agravity Boys 7337-7339
Undead Unluck 7340-7342
Mashle 7343-7345
Moriking 7346-7348
Bone Collection 7349-7351
Time Paradox Ghostwriter 7352-7354
Ayakashi Triangle 7355-7357
Magu-chan 7358-7360
Hardboiled Cop and Dolphin 7396-7398
Me and Roboco 7468-7470 (the IDs behind 7470 aren't occupied, so this is only a guess)

So basically, nothing will end next week. Haikyuu could be ending in two issues as many are expecting. But it's impossible to tell for sure right now, because we have no IDs for the issue after that yet.

Kaiju No.8 was good, yeah. Very derivative, but good nonetheless.

I really do hope this gets added to mangaplus. For those of you with Twitter, it might be worth tweeting out to the appropriate people.

What's the release schedule for this series?

Nothing quite that big but the gender-flipped World's End Harem seems to have a good start so far, and I've also noticed some dentist romance thing regularly get into the top 5 (though I don't remember its name).

Also, I REALLY want Kaijuu No. 8 to be translated. Read the premise and I’m very intrigued to see what it’s like. It got a lot of attention for only having one chapter. Could we be seeing the next Spy X Family???

speaking of which, a question I wanna ask is if I should start reading Spy X Family. Hear a lot of good things about it and I’ve been considering it.
SxF's success is an anomaly so most likely not.

Although it would be nice for Jump+ to have another massive hit at the same scale as SxF because the difference between SxF and the rest of the titles is astonishing. Like for example, SxF & Jigokuraku are marketed as Jump+'s hit titles but there's such a huge difference between the two in success. Speaking of which they had a promotion together at the Jump shop which just ended today (or yesterday in Japan)

I personally find SxF to be a 5/10, it's average in most aspects. Then again my opinion is in the minority, you should read it for yourself and find out whether you like it or not. Tbh its nothing special.

Kaiju no 8 was really good, kinda felt like a real world White Knight in that I feel like this hit all the right beats and will become very popular quickly. Mangaplus better fix it's mistake and release it asap if they don't want to be overshadowed by scans.
