lol i just logged to see if anything from the new issue were leaking already and there's a entire discussion about adding series and stuff, also a lot of confusion, so i will explain:
-Originally the poll were intended to only be about Weekly Shonen Jump, not necessarily about Manga Plus as you could see always had Yuuna since it was from SJ and the scans were always released quickly.
-With the time and i'm getting more heavily involved with everything in the rankings, the wish of including other series started to grow after noticing the series from Plus like Spy x Family and Jigokuraku were liked a lot by the members and high in the Manga Plus rankings so i thought "why don't put the bigger ones from Jump Plus in it?" so i added Jigokuraku, Spy x Family and Summer Time Rendering, i also added during a week Princess Torture but after noticing that these last two were basically just being fodder i decided to stop and keeping just with the first two since the original goal is about Shonen Jump so everything else is extra.
-After this i decided to add World Trigger, Boruto and Dragon Ball Super, the first two originally from WSJ and DBS a sequel to DB, also the 3 series that are part of the most read series in the Manga Plus app.
-After the success with WT and also seeing how Blue Exorcist and Seraph of the End are very popular decided to make a test and include them, they are receiving votes, now for this week included Twin Star Exorcists, ofc these monthly series receive less votes but they're monthly, updated on Manga Plus and popular, so i didn't saw any problem including them
All of this is basically to explain that 99% of the series included in the rankings needs to be translated by Manga Plus, so all the mangas are updated with the release in Japan instead of taking time to be translated by a scan group and X series be behind in the release or having to include more than 1 chapter from X series in the options. With WSJ all series will always be included doesn't matter if it's or not popular since the polls are mainly about Shonen Jump but from Plus or SQ it needs to be clearly a popular series to be included/keep in the rankings.
This leads to Kaiju No.8, i was already wanting to add in the rankings since the obvious big popularity and a lot of the users talking about and showing interest, but since it wasn't relead in english by Manga Plus i wasn't about to include, but Buranchi asked me if i wanted to include it because it was already translated by a group, and since the manga blowed up so fast and so many of you were commenting about it, i said "sure, why not?" and included in the rankings, and it's pretty popular so far in the votes.
So as much as i would like to include many series from Jump Plus for example, it's not viable to do because it would be too much series every week to keep on track of the releases by the scan groups and etc just to get maybe 1 or 2 votes at most, and i agree with a comment saying that "every vote matters" but in the end all the work behind the rankings is manual by me and if it's not on Weekly Shonen Jump it means is a extra series and would be even more work to do, Kaijuu was a exception due to the high popularity from the beginning.
