It was never really official it was going to be released in August. Many believed the manga would run until said month, but it's over already so the chances of it being published in the magazine are smaller. It might come in one of the last 2 volumes.
The movie is going to be released one month before the end of the Oricon year, so we might see some kind of boost extending until the following year. Also, season 2 will probably happen in 2021.
I hope we will get s2 as soons as possible but at another hand some popular anime like AoT have 4 years break between seasons so I'm curious how will be this time.

Initially yes, Popularity Poll results were planned for August. The problem came when right after that the whole COVID issue came in Japan and stuff such as the Kimetsu volumes were rescheduled, and because of sanitary reasons too. That same reschedule could have affected the reveal of those results, given that maybe there was actually a volume planned for an August release with the Poll results but it changed later.

That's because Attack on Titan anime is a production hell, this is why WIT dropped it, they had enough of it lol. Kimetsu bo Yaiba's production seems much healthier so they don't need extensive breaks between seasons.
There are plenty of reasons to be listed for Kimetsu's enormous success, but the only thing that would make Black Clover show any resemblance of a boost would be a movie and that's not gonna happen anytime soon.
I feel like Bleach is probably an apt comparison for Black Clover's trajectory, though on a smaller scale (Bleach being a pillar of the magazine at its height while Black Clover never really becoming more than a mid-tier success). The anime is still popular and will help keep Black Clover going until it reaches its end, but then it will be in a tougher spot. If it's anything like Bleach it'll stay in the second half of the rankings with much less promotional focus until it eventually finishes for good. It's less of a question of whether it'll get a late-series boost (its peak has passed), but whether it will have a safety net that will allow it to end naturally like Bleach or will be pushed towards an ending - and even if it's the worst case scenario that would be a couple years from now at least.
