There are a lot of people criticizing the fact that the jump is without sports manga, but let's face it, it wasn't a lack of effort or lack of interest.
since Hinomaru zumou a jump has been publishing sports manga and all have been canceled, last year he had beast children and Double taisei and both were a failure.

Beast Children should have stuck around.

Double Taisei did have issues with the plot, felt the idea wasn't something that could last long or was executed well.

We should have kept Mononofu

It should've been included for the sole fact that it ran for 3-4 years. That's a pretty solid run in WSJ for a series that barely crossed 30k sales.

Kaijuu No. 8 chapter 2

Ah, this one is so good. Both the comedy and the art were nice, the MC is charming on his own and makes you want to cheer for him. Overall, I like this much better than many of the newbies we've got since 2019, to be honest.

Now I'm hype to read it. I should have actually paid attention in Spanish classes

But would you say you're more wounded from TWB's cancellation or Stealth Symphony's cancellation?

Also, I remember TWB having the official ball from the world cup in it with the nike or adidas branding (remember it was a big brand). I think this was discussed then but are such series even legally allowed to do that?

This is still missing a few series, specifically Mr. Fullswing is I think the only major post 2000 series that's missing. In the 80s, it is missing a baseball manga called "Kenritsu Umisora Kōkō Yakyū Buin Yamashita Tarō-kun" which ran from 1986 to 1990. So it was also running during the time when Captain Tsubasa ended and Kami-sama wa Southpaw started serialising. The only time Jump was close to being without a spokon was when Midori no Makibao ended.

I wonder if Switch in Sunday was originally trying for WSJ but got rejected due to being basketball too soon after Kuroko, you'd think a Haikyuu assistant would also try to go for WSJ. Sunday turned out just fine for it though so all's good.

I really hope we get a sports series or two in the next batch, it's just plain weird how we've had 7 new series so close together right before Haikyuu ends but not a single one is a sports manga. Two different exorcist romcoms, three different gag manga about getting an incredibly strong pet, but no sports.

Kinda makes all the Spanish, non-English pickups even more baffling. Does English MangaPlus want to limit themselves to known authors on the app for picking stuff up? Because they think the name value will bring in views?

This is actually fully on Viz hands. Will be on MANGA Plus, yeah, but not by any freelancer team. This is their first Chapter 1 pick up ever, I think. SPYxFAMILY was started with freelancers, both translator and editor.
