So this means that Act-Age sold 50,780 copies of backlog this week (split among 11 volumes). Based on Shoseki estimates, it looks like backlog is a lot stronger than it was when Volume 11 released. I hope it has the same hold!
That's because Attack on Titan anime is a production hell, this is why WIT dropped it, they had enough of it lol. Kimetsu bo Yaiba's production seems much healthier so they don't need extensive breaks between seasons.
There are plenty of reasons to be listed for Kimetsu's enormous success, but the only thing that would make Black Clover show any resemblance of a boost would be a movie and that's not gonna happen anytime soon.
Honestly, a movie wouldn't help either. Toriko was bigger both manga wise and anime wise than Black Clover but the movie did nothing for it. The movie just came and went.
I feel like Bleach is probably an apt comparison for Black Clover's trajectory, though on a smaller scale (Bleach being a pillar of the magazine at its height while Black Clover never really becoming more than a mid-tier success). The anime is still popular and will help keep Black Clover going until it reaches its end, but then it will be in a tougher spot. If it's anything like Bleach it'll stay in the second half of the rankings with much less promotional focus until it eventually finishes for good. It's less of a question of whether it'll get a late-series boost (its peak has passed), but whether it will have a safety net that will allow it to end naturally like Bleach or will be pushed towards an ending - and even if it's the worst case scenario that would be a couple years from now at least.
I would talk about more BC's potential ending or prospects of being cancelled eventually but fans here are QUITE defensive. So I'd rather not.
The only thing I will say is that, the fact that for the current TOC, WSJ didn't push BC (a previous 1.5-2 tier series and which is probably their most recognizable series in this week's issue) to the top of the TOC and instead chose to use JK, Mashle and CSM whilst keeping BC near the bottom is probably indicative of WSJ's view of BC right now. BC fans. Don't @ me. Don't have the energy. ESPECIALLY YOU, SHARK.
Black Clover doesn’t even have a movie 2.5 (?)years into its TV run. Come on...
There’s no way Black Clover will get such a boost. I think it has hit its peak in popularity...and that’s okay.
This is My Hero Academia best 3-day first week ever by a considerable margin. Previously, it was volume 10 with 208,539 copies (and many of the following 3-day first week volumes sold around the same amount), so it sold almost 50,000 copies more, and compared to last volume it sold around 35,000 copies less with 2 days less. The Promised Neverland has showed some improvement as well, previously its best 3-day first week was 218,380 copies with volume 16, so almost 20,000 copies more. As for the previous volume, it sold around 20,000 copies less with 2 days less. Let's see how these two series do in upcoming weeks, but right now they're in a nice spot.
Dr. Stone 16 has showed considerable growth when compared to the previous volume, which also had a 3-day first week and sold 65,114, so this volume has sold around 24,000 copies more. Black Clover also sold more this time compared to the previous volume, which sold 69,994. Black Clover tends to do well in its second week, so it will be interesting to see next week's numbers. It's hard to to talk about Act-Age 12 right now because the only 3-day first week volumes were volumes 3 and 4, but it sold around 14,000 copies less than volume 2 with 2 days less. It will be important to see how it does in its second week.
As was stated previously, Kimetsu no Yaiba 21 showed growth, selling more in 3 days what volume 20 sold in 5 days. Only makes me wonder how will the first week of the last volume will look like. Here's to another possibility of breaking a record. Meanwhile, volume 19 is now the 4th best-selling manga within an Oricon year, closer to grab the #2 spot. Spy x Family 1 still hasn't crossed the 1 million mark, but it surely will sometime this year.

A good schedule, a coordinated team, enough resources. It's also good to have talented animators in the team.
HeroAca with such a strong opening... anime boost, perhaps? The Blu-Rays for Heroes Rising come out already? Or maybe it's more front-loaded than usual? This, Haikyuu and Neverland all seem to be experiencing boosts...

And after all the arguments about BC going down each volume and even maybe not being able to reach 200k easily with the new ones, the new volume actually showed a increase in sales
06. Black Clover #24 (69,994) - 3 days
08. Black Clover #25 (80,781) - 3 days
Yozakura in 4th, Black Clover selling more, new Akihisa Ikeda manga picked by Plus, thats a good week so far...
Interesting that all the series on a downwards trend had big improvements week 1, I wonder if that's the effect of shops no longer being close helping them, KNY releasing with them and drawing more people to the stores than usual or if there's something else explaining it. I guess we'll have to see if week 2 ends up dropping for them, but Haikyuu was similar coming out with 20 and it didn't end up dropping. We'll see.
Also, TPN will probably beat MHA first month this time around. The gap between the two is really small and TPN seems to be holding much better.
Well, about the popularity polls, if I remember correctly, KnY's poll results will come out in less than a month, in August right? Will it be announced in the magazine or from their Twitter?

I don't see how KnY releasing along other titles will make their sales increase. I think the former is probably more likely, although I'm not aware of the shop situation.
Fuck, Haikyuu is actually ending. I've heard a lot of praise for Haikyuu for it's timeskip, usually well received timeskips are a rarity.

Just a cracktheory among many (More people heading to the stores -> might buy something else while they're there?). I don't know myself so I'm only throwing shit at the wall pretty much. It's a weird bump for all of them considering they'd been on the decline for a long time. A good thing for MHA especially, considering it's one of the very few pillars the magazine has left now.
The store explanation could work for black clover when comparing a 3days week with a 3days week, but the latest 3days opening for MHA was before the virus for example. So, I don't know how else to explain that one. Maybe season 4 reached streaming services?

Maybe readers just enjoy the current MHA arc a lot more than the previous ones, which could lead to more people buying the volumes. Also, didn't One Piece get a huge boost due to the Marineford arc? Or was the Marineford arc airing in the anime what was responsible for the boost? If the Marineford arc happening in the manga boosted sales for One Piece, the situation here could be similar on a smaller scale.

As far as I'm aware, events of the manga itself rarely give big boosts once the manga is estabilished and set on a trajectory unless some external factor brings it back to the spotlight to make use of it (which One Piece did have at the time for marineford, with the strong world movie receiving big promotion IIRC). Which is why I was wondering if perhaps Season 4 had reached streaming services recently.
That said, it's not like I would exclude it either. It's a possibility.
