Moderator Notice:
Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

I've never had any trouble comprehending a chapter of Chainsaw Man.
It sounds lazy to say this, but I can only guess that people having trouble aren't used to something using unconventional or abstract storytelling/visuals.
The series is very good at telegraphing exactly what's going on if you're paying attention. Definitely more than a bit trippy, but certainly not inaccessible to a general audience.

I never find Chainsawman hard to understand. it's easy to follow, it's just unpredictable and often deliberately goes against expectations. 'Hard to predict' is not the same as 'hard to follow', you don't need to be able to figure out what'll happen next to understand what's happening in the moment

Jujutsu Kaisen is the one that sometimes loses me sometimes. It's better than it was earlier on where I sometimes felt like I had skipped a chapter, but it still feels like it jumps between things in an odd way when there's lots going on, and likes to link back to minor forgotten stuff. It's a real shame that it barely gets any discussion since it's the kind of series I think would benefit greatly from having the really devoted type of fans, the ones who read chapters multiple times and post about all the links and such they've noticed (like Bleach used to have).

I really, really hope Jujutsu's anime doesn't get stuck in netflix jail because that would kill the weekly discussion which is something it really needs.

Everyone, this argument about genre/status (or not understanding the difference) is getting off-topic, so let's chill out on that subject, please.

Chainsaw Man also hasnt been that hard to follow to me either, if I were to say something tho it'll be say that CSM is the type of series that you get enjoy the most out of it when bingeread, I say this based on my own experience tho. Like someone said one time, some arcs feel like a movie cut into chapters.

I don't understand why Roboco get so much dislike, the manga artsyle is classical remind you of Doraemon.
The main character and his two friend design are basically reference to Nobita, Suneo and Giant. I think the gag is hit on, is not lame and forced like Grand Blue.

The author probably Doraemon fan which explain the influence, really sad that a lot modern readers didn't appreciate it.

This is from the Invade You! author, right? Looks like their art has improved by a lot since then!
I'm really liking this style. Read through the raw of this chapter, and it seemed pretty solid. The author's artwork has definitely improved since Invade You. You can still tell that it has their own style to it, but it seems more refined than their first serialization.

More info on the Miura one-shot. Honestly sounds interesting to me.
Now I wonder if Miura did indeed end it on his own terms. Any axe to a series that ran for that long would probably affect the mangaka for a while. But it seems that he was ready to just move on. But it's strange considering that in the most recent interview he said he at least wanted to go for at least 30 volumes.

Since neither mangaplus or viz probably will pick it, I hope someone translate. And whoa, Miura already back, I didn't even recognize his art somehow.

This week's top 5:
1. Mitama Security - Hilarious chapter! Not going to lie, Soya was never one of my favorite characters, but this week's chapter is probably my favorite one in which he's the main character. Perhaps one day his dream will come true and he'll finally get a bit of spirit sense. It seems to be rubbing off on him a bit.
2. Magu-chan: God of Destruction - Fantastic chapter. So many funny bits that I'm not even sure where to start. Magu-chan is a delightful main character - a great blend of humorous and serious.
3. Undead Unluck - My girl Fuuko is such a great person. Her and Andy have both really started changing for the better due to each other. I'm interested to learn a bit more about the rest of the villains too besides Unrepair.
4. Moriking - Really funny chapter. The butterfly was a great addition to the cast, and it was nice seeing Oka interacting with them as well.
5. Chainsaw Man - This chapter was so powerful and depressing at the same time, but seeing Denji and Power's interactions with each other were really great. At this point, it's basically like they're siblings. Not sure how I'd cope if something happens to Power.

The best of the rest:
6. Mashle - Pretty funny chapter. The spiky-haired dude's comment about being the normal one in the group made me laugh out loud. Hopefully we'll get to see the roommate show some skill in battle soon.
7. Act-Age - Really interesting chapter. Seeing the 3 girls' new everyday life together has been nice to see. They actually seem like they could be actual sisters with how well they seem to get along.
8. Mission: Yozakura Family - An interesting chapter that once again sprinkled a tiny bit of info relating to the main plot. Mutsumi is too cute!
9. Ayakashi Triangle - Decent chapter. The new character was alright, but I'm not totally sold on him yet. Hopefully we'll get some more recurring yokai soon.
10. We Never Learn - The chapter was ok, but the romance between the two kind of feels strange. You see them have a big sister/little brother-type relationship throughout the bulk of the series with Fumino always giving out advice, and then this what-if development just feels like a weird transition. Still better than Rizu's arc, but I don't understand all of the gildings on Reddit.
11. Hard-Boiled Cop and Dolphin - This series is just really strange. I laugh a tiny bit each chapter, but the concept still just seems super strange. At least the art is good.
12. Time Paradox Ghostwriter - Speaking of good art with a weird premise, here's the original holder of that title. The pacing and timing of events feels a bit weird throughout the chapter. The MC just isn't very likable.
13. Bone Collection - Still the same horrible artwork as usual. Paira is the only thing slightly redeeming about this axebait series.
14. Agravity Boys - Unfunny chapter. Last week's chapter focused on just Chris and Saga was much more interesting to read. I'm just not a fan of Baba.
15. Me & Roboco - Something must've got lost in the translation of some of those jokes at the beginning. Didn't laugh even once.

Fumino fans coming out to support their ship. That's it. If you think this was bad, just wait till Mafuyu (Sensei) gets her ending. I begrudgingly admit that she's by far the most popular character, so gildings are gonna go through the fucking roof.

Massive gildings from weebs have become a regular occurrence. Just over a year ago, gilding was harder to do, so when Kaguya got animated and started racking up that stuff, it was absolutely insane. Now, every new chapter of Chainsaw Man's being gilded. So was Demon Slayer for the final part of it's run, after the anime put it on the map. We Never Learn's gonna keep getting gilded until it ends thanks to the popularity of it's upcoming leads. Haikyuu's gonna get gilded when it ends next week.

I just find it interesting.

Idk about you guys but I changed my habit of reading WSJ and now I'm beginning by the most hard manga like Chainsaw Man and Jujutsu and ending with the comedies as those are all light. lol

haha yeah, I can already see gildings on the Mafuyu chapters in the future. As much if not more than Fumino's.
