Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

It seems like some ppl just personally don’t care for Bone Collection’s art style.

Looking through it the artist clearly knows how to draw. For the most part technical aspects of his art such as anatomy, perspective, line weight variation, and the backgrounds look perfectly fine.

The mangaka just has a pretty crude style when it comes to drawing his characters. But don’t really get the “Art is bad” criticism. Reminds me of people saying that Kimetsu No Yaiba’s Art was garbage early on, whenever Gotouge just has a sketchy and loose art style

Personally, Bone Collection's artstyle doesn't really appeal to me. At least, at first glance. It just feels kind of basic, even compared to other new newbies. I have the same criticism about Me and Roboco, except that one's at a much bigger magnitude. I think someone said that they were emulating Doraemon with it, but I feel like it works better in Doraemon, mainly due to the mascot character.

Chainsawman just feels like the writers have lost touch on how to tell a story and just go for shock value. I wish Denji was a smart lead.
read fire punch, this author is the LAST person you have to say that he ''cant or lost touch to tell a story'''

dude lmao

Oh I’m not saying that the artstyle can’t be disliked. I’m not in love with it myself.

But I would say that the art is just straight up bad, is what I’m saying

I never find Chainsawman hard to understand. it's easy to follow, it's just unpredictable and often deliberately goes against expectations. 'Hard to predict' is not the same as 'hard to follow', you don't need to be able to figure out what'll happen next to understand what's happening in the moment

Jujutsu Kaisen is the one that sometimes loses me sometimes. It's better than it was earlier on where I sometimes felt like I had skipped a chapter, but it still feels like it jumps between things in an odd way when there's lots going on, and likes to link back to minor forgotten stuff. It's a real shame that it barely gets any discussion since it's the kind of series I think would benefit greatly from having the really devoted type of fans, the ones who read chapters multiple times and post about all the links and such they've noticed (like Bleach used to have).

I really, really hope Jujutsu's anime doesn't get stuck in netflix jail because that would kill the weekly discussion which is something it really needs.
jjk is has a bad habit of phasing of the clock. just as u said, it often feels i skipped a few chapters, and it doest only feels but the author doesnt make it aware for the viewers on what time period we are

Ghost Reaper Girl Chapter 1 Color Page

So, really Akissa Saiké, huh? So, Akihisa Ikeda now uses a different surname with different Kanji that are read as Saike in the Furigana, but still uses the same Kanji for Akihisa, which are also still read as Akihisa in the Furigana, but are now romanized as Akissa? Haven't seen something like this from an established author tbh xD

Just read Ghost girl, I forgot how enjoyable this author's drawing is. Also, kinda weird that this had to be read from left to right.

Well, normal chapter I think. that Madoka reference lel but overall nothing new.

I just went through Bone Collection very briefly for the art and I can see why some people are put off by it.
There is some weird proportions going on within the faces of the characters. The art outside of the characters' faces seem decent.

I get that this panel was supposed to be kinda funny and hence supposed to be disproportionate but even then the proportion within the face just threw me off. It doesn't work, in my opinion.

In terms of art, I liked Ghost Reaper Girl significantly more than any of the new series, Ayakashi Triangle included.

Solid start, though I didn't enjoy it quite as much as Kaiju No.8.

Just read GHOST REAPER GIRL. Pretty nice start, even though it feels like a 2008 series because of the chemistry of the characters and the whole setting. Still enjoyed it and expecting more from Ikeda. His art is superb like it has always been, even if it now feels similar to Obata's, and it seems I'm not the only one who thinks like that checking some comments on the series, and seems to have gotten a bit thicker when it comes to lines and compared to Rosario to Vampire Season 2. Also, just went to the Jump+ site and the first comment on the series was the literal exact comment I expected, which is comparing Chloé to Kei Yonagi.

Ghost Reaper Girl was ok, wonder why the author would request it be flipped, even as someone who reads a lot of Western comics, that made it much harder to read, the art just flows a lot worse. Kinda hope he goes back on his decision lol.

This has to be the weirdest request I've seen in a while.
Correct me if I'm wrong but the japanese version is actually still read right to left?

Yep, it is. Dunno what caused the decision tho.
