Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Jujutsu Kaisen volume 12 cover is so good.

I like this cover, but it’s really weird. Like JJK has had no fan service, now suddenly there’s a naked woman on the cover. It took a second to even realize who this was, because the character doesn’t normally look like this. Just weird, still like it though.

Nudity doesn't always mean it's fan service.

If you go through murata's twitter you will see that this is a collaborative effort not just murata (doesn't change the cool factor). Murata specifically drew Tanjiro as far as I can tell.
I guess if Murata draw this alone it would be much better.

Boobs sells good especially when main audience are boys, but I'm surprised too, I dropped JJK but this was not that kind of manga.

If that's the case then Yuragi should have sold way more than it did.
Yuuna-san & the Haunted Hotsprings Color Page for Jump GIGA 2020 Summer Issue.

Speaking of boobs....

Those Jump Giga one shots look good. I'd like to read them if they get translated, especially the Make Heroine one. I like the art. Though, the Sakura Katana one might be a bit too similar looking to Kimetsu. If Jump is looking for something similar, I think that one shot earlier this year from Jump would be better. I believe it was called Naraku no Ko. I really enjoyed it and think it would make a good series.

The Roboco extra is funny. Really like the gag of Gachigorilla being treated differently than others.

Mashle, Moriking, and Jujutsu covers out. Was there anything else that already leaked? Can't wait to see what Chainsaw and Time Paradox looks like. Will be interesting to see the Vol 1 sales of the new series.

Yuuna isn't battle shonen. I just mean Battle shonen are filled with sweaty boys, so attractive/sexy women can be some eye candy for some readers.

About the Jujutsu Kaisen cover, I would like to mention that Mei Mei has always had a sex appealing vibes. It's probably kind of unusual but if anyone could have this cover style, the only option is Mei and maybe Gojo.

Gege probably took the perfect opportunity since he has previously lost other opportunities and, specifically, unique ones. RIP weed cover.

I think it’s a huge missed opportunity for Viz that they didn’tstart translating classic series from the 70s-90s that never made it to the west (or if they did weren’t popular in the early days of the anime/manga boom), and then adding those series to the SJ Vault.

Even beyond those 70s-90s series, I think there are a ton of ppl who would kill to have an official place to read the entirety of Gintama, and Hitman Reborn, which both were discontinued in print in North America. Sure they weren’t successful in the mid 2000s, but they definitely have a solid fanbase now in the West, now that anime/manga is significantly more mainstreams
Being that no ones started any sort of online campaign asking them to do as such (for old series and for gintama/reborn), I dont know if there is as much of a "fanbase" that wants that as you say. [Also wouldnt gintama and Reborn need a new translation, thought people hated viz's handling of it back then???]

Also the vault is only 1.99 a month, none of us really know how its profitability goes, and isnt it hard to find and get manga from before the 90's? At most 5 are announced a year from the entire eng industry at large, several old series failed kickstarters, or simply never came out due to challenges. Incredibly old series might be such a super niche market that it may not be feasible at the current setup of the vault (I'd think if the vault were doing THAT amazing, then Viz would have expanded it to all their manga...)

Also I think they ought to focus on getting more form JUMP+ and etc before going to old series, the lack of choosing everything there or even whats on Mangaplus ought to be telling of the state of the viz jump vault platform.

Should Viz invest in translating 100s-1000s of chapters from these series and dumping them all in the Vault in one go? No.

But it could be a venture worth testing the waters. I’m sure Viz is able to see which series are getting views and what series ppl are gravitating towards the most.
Maybe putting up a volume or two worth of Gintama and Hitman Reborn and seeing how it performs, and how fans react to it. And then periodically update them over a few years. And same for old series.

And then depending on the success of that, maybe start doing the same for older and more obscure series

While nobody is campaigning for these series, I’m sure many ppl would be down to read them if they knew said series were there.

Going through the special Yuragi chapter made me realize how much I missed it's ecchi and how I'm gonna miss it more.

I find it interesting that people complain about comedy manga from jump and the absence of sports.
But nobody here wants Magu chan, mitama, Moriking, Mashle, Agravity boys, Yozakura, hard boiled corp and douphin and Me and Roboko to be canceled to make room for a new sports manga in the jump.

Seriously??? I think people just don't want to be dicks and spam axe 24/7 cuz some people enjoy those series.

I don't think that's true. I'm sure there are people who don't like some of those manga's and probably want them to be axed, but people don't outright say it because that will just cause issues between one another.

over generalization much?

also not ever comedy manga is created equal.

I love Agravity Boys, Mashal, and Moriking. The rest have either overstayed their welcome (Miitama and Yozakura Family (like neither have grown and theyre both almost at their first anniversary) or are dull (Magu Chan)
