Moderator Notice:
Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

However they’re aren’t too many mangaka I can think of that have written 2 sports manga about the same exact sport. The only one I can think of is Inoue going from Slam Dunk to Real(and even then Real is about wheelchair basketball, so that in itself separates it A LOT from actual basketball).
And then there is Mitsuru Adachi, who has done at least 5 baseball manga, 2 boxing manga and one diving/swimming manga. Though he is certainly the other side of the extreme.

But yeah, it is rather rare, iirc.

Adachi does that because his manga aren't really about baseball. They're about interpersonal relationships, with the baseball being a foundation for what plays out. The biggest event in Touch doesn't even have much to do with the sport.

I also have to agree that it's kinda pointless to argue for motives when these are ultimately the decisions of individual creators. It's probably not a coincidence the two most acclaimed Jump spokon where from creators who played the representative sport in HS.

Have to say, maybe it's because I recently finished reading Totono, but the combination of Ayakashi and...whatever the hell WNL turned into makes me seriously feel like Jump needs a huge shakeup on the romcom front. The modern 2010s model popularised by Nisekoi is basically a venue for nothing but works which success is on competence over genuine quality, and they pale in comparison to what Magazine has been doing for example in sales and reception.

The romcoms in Shonen Jump are really mediocre.. Young Jump, on the other hand, has one of the best RomCom

But Kaguya-sama may simply be special

Romcom in WSJ is like "that dish" in your buffet. It is there to fill in the menu and to make the buffet more deluxe and overwhelming, not to charm or attract customers.

Historically, iirc, the only time jump lost first place to magazine was because it did not jump in the romcom bandwagon of that time. In the end, jump still triumphed and backed to the first place. So I don't think jump has any incentives to become the top dog in romcom genre.

As someone who reads a lot of Romcoms the newest one from Jump that I would even consider for say top 20 is probably Strawberry 100%. I''s is also pretty enjoyable but this is something far from new.
I also agree with Thundercat. I think Romcoms are far more important for Sunday and Magazine and you see them getting much better ones far more frequently.

Second half of this movie is going to wow anime onlys. Can only hope for a speedy international release 🤞
Well...

...best case scenario, it'll still take about half a month longer than Heroes Rising did. Though that can be attributed to COVID messing with things. Looking forward to see how this will fare at the box office.

I liked how the PV didnt spoil anything lol and nice visual. I hope that the movie dominates the box office much like how it's dominating the manga sales charts. I'm going to predict 10-15 billion yen box office.

Can we do a poll predicting Kimetsu's box office? I don't think we have done that

It's kind of too hard right now unless we know if theaters are still going to be half attendance in october tbh

That demon slayer trailer was the best yet, hell it's my favorite trailer I've seen in a long time if ever. It gave me goosebumps both times watching it so I can already tell shits gonna go right in the movie

Heroes Rising came out in Japan on December 20 and in the U.S. on February 26. So, two months. October 16 to January 2021 is at least two and a half months. Assuming Mugen Train comes out in January.

I was expecting Aimer to sing the opening lol. Well, the song is really good, Lisa right now has a huge popularity (with gurenge breaking records), so makes sense to bring her again.

I hope someone translates Ao no Hako, seems cute, and I just looked at the raws of his other one shot and it seemed cute as well, though I couldn't really understand it.
