# OF COLOR PAGES RECIEVED:
Kuzuhana: 2 Lead, 5 Regular
Governess: 1 Lead, 5 Regular

Every new series gets a lead CP and a regular CP for their first two chapters. Standard practice, from all of the weekly magazines I've seen.

These two are pretty even. Governess has it's own Twitter account, but Kuzuhana's got one whole extra Lead CP. I think this signals some interest in keeping the two series alive. I'd say in terms of engagement, both series could be about even, but Kuzuhana has more of a push, I think, which could pay off for it.

NOTES
-Welp, I did say there was a chance that it ranked but failed to overtake Iruma, and that's exactly what happens here. Whether or not Makai will overtake Iruma entirely depends on whether or not Makai makes the chart next week.
-Next week's the interesiting week! 2 newbies, a newbie trying to prove themselves, and Yowamushi promotion due to the movie coming out. I'd realy like to see how things played out with each of them, though that'll be in 2 days.

NEWS
The release of Appare! Urayasu Tekkin Kazoku Volume 7 has been moved to August 20.

41?! Jeez, this Iruma chapter must be a big one, then. Nice to see SHY getting another color page up with the established series!

Nazuna-san one-shot was translated - i imagine from this timing its probably as a result of the fact Heriyama put the whole thing on twitter. The Kuzuhana-chan one has not been done but its also basically the first chapter of the manga.

Yuuenchi is finally getting released in October. I expect Yankee JK and Nazuna to sell at least decently especially Yankee JK.

Why do you think so? I'm interested in hearing your opinion.

Yankee JK reception seems to be good, and the fact its by a veteran will probably give the sale department more confidence in giving it a bigger print number than a series by a newbie. Nazuna is probably more optimism on my part but if it can manage a couple of days in shoseki then that should be fine enough.

I made a personal list of the status of WSC manga - one which will quickly change with new volumes releasing this month.

LEGEND
Pillars - Magazine cornerstones. These are the manga that I think draw people to the magazine. They're not just series, they're whole franchises that command significant attention.
Mainstays - Not as big as Pillars but they're very respectable in their own right. These sell quite well, but they're not franchises, nor can they be considered cornerstones.
Stable Series - Series that sell well enough to not get axed... and nothing more than that.
Up and Comers - New series that are managing to really establish themselves as part of the roster.
Uncertain - We don't know for sure where these series are headed. If things are lookign good for them sales-wise then they'll probably survive. If things are looking quite dire for them sales-wise than they'll probably get axed.
Newbies - New manga that have yet to make a significant impression in terms of sales. Where all new manga start off. Think of these as series that are yet to be ranked.
Axe Fodder - Yeah, there's no saving these. They're running on borrowed time. Whenever there's a new serialization round, they're done for. Or maybe an established series will end, but tht only delays the inevitable.

Feel free to agree or disagree. I'm usually conservative with this, so putting Makai as a mainstay with only a single volume out is soemthing I'm still internally debating over. It's just that it's sales are way too explosive and don't seem like they'll slow down plus it's a spinoff of an already established series.

Did one for Jump, as well, and I'm gonna do one for Young Jump.

OUT ON OCTOBER 8
WEEKLY SHONEN CHAMPION
Yowamushi Pedal Volume 69
Rokudou no Onna-tachi Volume 22
BEASTARS Volume 21
Baki Dou Volume 7
Baku-kun Volume 3
Yankee JK Kuzuhana-chan Volume 2
Tougen Anki Volume 1

BEASTARS is right before it’s climax. It may end before the year’s up: https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/ne...gaki-beastars-manga-approaches-climax/.162641

...you know, Tsukiji Saikyou Sushi Densetsu - Nigiri no Umitarou will probably go down as one of the most forgotten series we've ever had serialized here because holy shit, I didn't even know that Tsukiji was axed last week until I checked just now. There wasn't even a leak about it's axing. It was just part of the goddamn TOC for Issue 35. No reactions, nothing. I was only wondering how in the fuck Tsukiji didn't have a volume scheduled already since the last volume came out in June and by sheer happenstance I took a look at Issue 35's TOC. I'll have to revise my ranking to account for this.

Also, when int he hell is Sachio-kun getting a second volume? Are the pages super short or something and volume releases are yearly?

It's tragic how Rokudou doesn't sell more than it does. The series has been absolutely perfect lately, and the sales simply don't reflect the perfection that's contained within those pages. Kuzuhana is a bit lower than I was hoping for too.

Shoseki Day 2 updated.

...what the fuck happened to Nazuna-san? I legitimately thought that I'd missed it somewhere when scrolling through the list. Nope, it's already outta the Top 500. Don't want to jump to conclusions yet (maybe it can bounce back) but holy shit. If it doesn't make Shoseki this week, it's doomed.

Kuzuhana's lower than I was hoping for (96 to 224 is a pretty big drop...), but it has a fairly better chance of making the weekly rank. I'm just wondering if this can stabalize or even increase in the long-term. Or maybe the magazine was expecting higher sales from a veteran. I actually want Kuzuhana to survive, it's become something I really enjoy.

NOTES
-The Pillars make the Oricon chart, as usual. Beastars and Yowamushi continue to pull in the power for the magazine. It's going to suck when the former concludes, but unlike other magazines, WSC seems to have put itself in a favorable position. Part of this is due to their lower standards, yeah, but there's more to it.
-Rokudou and Atsumare seemingly bounce back nicely from their previous volumes. Atsumare's may jsut have the advantage of an extra day, though I also see Rokudou recovering from releasing during the lockdown last time. Higher numbers than I expected for them, to be honest.
-That last sentence also applies to Kuzuhana-chan. Nearly 3.5k in 4 days honestly isn't bad for this magazine IMO. At least this'll stick around for a little while. The real test begins in whether or not it can grow or stabilize, at least enough so that it doesn't get axed. I wish it the best of luck.
-Remember how I said WSC will be fine? Well, according to estimations, Makai Volume 1 overtook Iruma Volume 16 as the highest selling volume of the year before leaving Shoseki. The Twitter impressions have foretold this ling ago. I can't believe it's still making the charts after over two months. It's seemingly its own backlog now. Those must be a real famous--ass YouTube group. I'm honestly excited to see how Volume 2 does. Normally, spinoffs like these begin to drop immediately, but with more and mroe people seemingly buying Makai, we mgiht actually get a stabilization or increase in sales. September awaits.
-Sadly, Baku-kunwasn't able to salvage itself and is now more or less cementing itself as the next series to be axed. Nazuna-san, despite it's Twitter account, also shockingly failed to make the week. I didn't think it would leave Shoseki after one day! Nazuna's now relegated to being a likely axe.

An updated State of the Magazine on WSC will come shortly.
