Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Act-Age on Shoseki:
#51 - 12
#68 - 10
#69 - 9
#71 - 8
#73 - 6
#74 - 7
#75 - 11
#77 - 5
#79 - 1
#80 - 2
#81 - 4
#82 - 3

All volumes in the top 100. I really wish it didn't have to happen like this...
They should be even higher on the 9th's ranking. It's a really unfortunate time.

Should he be able to serve his time and re enter society? Sure

Should he be allowed to continue working for a magazine that makes content aimed a children when he committed acts of sexual harming children? Absolutely not.

As Rica said above, he’s allowed to continue making manga. No ones stopping him.
However harming children isn’t just a little oopsy daisy that ppl can just forgive and forget. That’s some that will, and should follow you for the rest of your life, and ppl aren’t required to forgive and support someone who committed a heinous crime like that
Ehh I can't argue with that. Though I don't think anyone deserves to never be forgiven something like that no matter what they do.

Also... like isn't jump aimed at all ages, not just kids?

While Jump’s audience are people of all ages it is still a Shonen magazine. It’s target demographic is young boys.

Similarly to things like Marvel, DC Comics, Star Wars etc.; no matter how large the adult fanbase is, their intended audience is boys between 10-15

Also, I’m pretty sure a good portion of Act-Age’s fanbase is young girls in the same age range as the one’s that Matsuki assaulted. So it would rub me the wrong way if he continues writing a series for the same girls he’d have no problem assaulting

If I remember correctly, there were reprints for Act age like 2 months ago (right?) What happens once it runs out of copies? No more reprints for it?

Would really like to see a manga exclusive Final Fantasy Jump story. By manga exclusive, I mean not based on an existing FF game. Something similar to the Jump Dragon Quest manga.

Most Nintendo games that would work well as a manga already have solid-great manga series. So there’s no reason for Jump to do one
Well that's a really good idea actually. It would probably bring in a lot of money too for the name alone. People all over the world who don't even read manga would probably buy a few volumes for the sake of owning more FF merch. Jump needs every bit of cash now more than ever. Losing all of its titans fast, this act age situation, they are getting flop after flop after flop. Nothing really promising yet except Mashel and UxU kinda? Chainsaw man is probably gonna end within the next year. WNL is going this year I think? Then whats left? OP, MHA, BC, Dr Stone and JJK. I don't doubt jjk is gonna blow up but I'm not expecting anything like amazing. BC's sales declining as much as it hurts me to say that. Dr. Stone sales where rising right? Last time I looked at it it was anyway but still ain't enough to carry an entire magazine you know. MHA is fine i guess but once One Piece ends in the next 5 years this magazine is finished 💀 Ubless a miracle happens... Like Toriko 2 for example 🥴👀 I'm scared for the future of jump tbh.

I mean what if things get worse and like half the magazine is full of sex offenders 😱

There are plenty of extremely talented Jump mangaka right now that are free to start a new serialization. I don't think we've seen the defining series of the decade yet, not even close. Out of the new series, I see only Mashle and Undead sticking around long term. I feel we're entering a golden age of Jump where the magazine is free from nearly all heavyweights and a ton of incredible new series will be debuting in the next few years.
I'm not worried at all.

Wait for Moue's next series to take over Jump.

Also, given Arakawa has a relationship with Shueshia now, my dream that will never happen is a Final Fantasy 6 adaptation from her in Jump. She'd be the absolutely perfect fit.

Matsui's next work (assuming he comes back) will definitely have a lot of momentum going behind it given his track record.

Will be interesting to see what he comes back with.

why does everyone undermine Yozakura, its never included with Undead and MASHLE. It's a little irritating considering that its like a 1k sale difference between Undead and Yozakura

I'm not sure this can be answered without breaking the rules about inter-series arguing
However, I think the consensus opinion of it here ranges from it being mediocre-terrible. It's been discuss why countless times and just clogs up the thread.
There are people that like it sure, but the people that don't like it don't necessarily have to bring it up. Especially considering its growth is not at the same rate given it's older and could stagnate pretty easily.
Regardless, this will get deleted but I thought I'd respond since this seems to be troubling you.

probably because it's survived purely on luck. Guardian, Bone or TimePara sold just a little better it would be gone. If half the veterans didn't end this year it would be gone. A lot of people here are also fairly disappointed with how Yozakura turn out compared to chapter 1 while Undead has drastically improved from chapter 1 so might just be people more wanting to cheer for Undead due to that?

Yeah, the magazine being so empty helps keep otherwise cancel-bait alive until something stronger comes around to push it out.
Yozakura is just a placeholder.

Speaking as a Yozakura fan, I think it's reasonable to think Jump has less faith in the series than Mashle and UxU, it's been ages since the last CP and while there is growth, it's been pretty minimal (Unless this volume changes that). Honestly I love the series but I think it's at best going to end up like Samon or the dancing series and run for about 2 years, which hopefully would be enough to finish the story.

was samon continously growing or did it stagnate?

speaking of video game manga, we already know 2 are coming
DQ Prequel by Sanjo and Shibata
Megaton Musashi when Level 5 get their shit together
there also the possibility of a new Digimon manga (beside the one that have been on hiatus for 6 years)

Matsui's next work (assuming he comes back) will definitely have a lot of momentum going behind it given his track record.

new kendo manga that saves jump and end the sport drought incoming

I personally think Yozakura should have went I. The same traditional battle Shonen route like MHA, and Black Clover.

“Taiyō attends a school for training spies” or something. It’s a generic plot, but I feel like his character designs, cute aesthetic, and writing style would have made it stand out. I feel like that would have been more successful, especially with how many characters he introduces.

I enjoy it as it is, but can see it ever taking off. Either way, if Yozakura ever gets axed, I feel like Gondaira’s 3rd try will definitely be a charm

Still think going Hitman Reborn on us would have been great. Comedy to get us acquainted with the family and then boom, Taiyo has his own Vongola Family ready for his Kokuyo/Vongola Arc.

I don't think Gondaira has any idea what he's doing or how to even properly execute the things he wants to do. He's just kind of limping along.
Both his series have the same problem. A neat premise backed by cool character designs but absolutely nothing behind it.

I liked a lot his Tokyo Department War Memoir one shot, probably my favorite of his OS, would love to see its world expanded, tho I'll be okay with whatever he comes up

alright that's way too assumptive. Unless you personally know Gondaira you can't just assume these things. Just cause they want to do gags a lot doesn't mean they don't know what they're doing

All he may need is the right editor that meshes well with him
