people throw around final arc way too fucking much, it makes no sense for yozakura to have a final arc right now, its not getting axed.

Yozakura having an action chapter doesn't make it good or that it will effectively deliver on what this chapter is trying to set up. It's had action chapters before, it suddenly becoming a battle manga won't suddenly give it depth or quality writing.

Not a bad issue at all, but definitely dampened by everything that's gone on. Just a few weeks ago I could read Haikyuu!! and Act-Age back to back so it's gonna take a while to adjust. My thoughts this week:

The Great
1. One Piece - Been so long since One Piece was the best of the week for me, but this chapter deserved it. The raid is in full swing, loved that Oda didn't cram the action into tiny panels like he often does. Finally getting invested in Wano (80 or so chapters in...)
2. Act-Age - It's just painful to read at this point, that this transitional chapter would be the end. At least the final panel was of Japan's most successful actress's gravestone, that's at least a memorable visual to end on. But everything is so disheartening.
3. Chainsaw Man - Kind of abrupt change of scene after last week but another enjoyable chapter that feels much less dark at first glance but knowing what we know... I'm worried.

The Good
4. My Hero Academia - You know, Hirokoshi, you are allowed to let the girls in your series also shine in the action without having to be rescued/outshone by the guys. A really annoying default of his in an otherwise very nice action-filled chapter.
5. Me & Roboco - I'll keep saying it... I think this series is funny! The To Love Ru/Darkness/Ayakashi Triangle jokes were great. "So this is Darkness?" Amazing. Roboco's transformation of the week also got plenty of opportunity for laughs. This is my favourite gag manga in the magazine right now and I feel confident in saying this is the best of the recent batch (I stand alone...).
6. Mashle - Mashle is doing exactly what I want. A good amount of action and comedy balancing and aiding each other.

The Decent
7. Jujutsu Kaisen - Maybe I'm missing something (and I might be, I genuinely struggle following JJK sometimes) something like that seemed a wildly stupid thing to do and only really served to bring Itadoki to that fight? Felt contrived, even if it looked cool.
8. Time Paradox Ghostwriter - This is madness. Still fun to read but also... was this going to be the same endgame even if the series ran for a long time? Just make Teppei the 'villain' and expect us to hate him for the entire run? I wish Kenji Ishima thought this through better because how did he expect this to work exactly?
9. Black Clover - Yami rescue arc incoming, I guess.
10. Agravity Boys - This was closer to the vibe the series should be going for after that not so good flashback. Still want this to stick around as long as possible.
11. Mission: Yozakura Family - I'll include this here because I'm feeling generous and this was the kind of stuff I'd like the series to have done already, sooner, more often. This is a better direction for the series. Cool final page.
12. Moriking - The fourth candidate arrives! She seems fun.
13. Mitama Security - This has been a chore for so long now but at least it ended on one of its better chapters! Sorry to those who were still loving this.

The Rest
14. Magu-chan: God of Destruction
15. Undead Unluck
16. Hard-Boiled Cop and Dolphin

N/A
17. Dr. Stone (Intend to catch up over the two week break)
18. We Never Learn
19. Ayakashi Triangle

MHA: This is a good chapter, paying off on stuff that was setup before in a very nice way. But I can't help but feel kinda disappointed here, especially since other female character in this arc have actually gotten the spotlight to do work. I just wish more girls did more, so let's keep that going. That being said, the end of the chapter was really intriguing.

Yozakura was alright this week, the "you're already hit 100x times" and massive enemy hordes felt kinda cheesy but the last page was cool

Mitama was great and quite the satisfying end, even if it did feel abrupt. Things are just beginning, after all. It's been quite the roller coaster following this series, it got double chapters, 2 color pages (not including ch1 and 2), a create a spirit contest, decent-ish rankings for a newbie and now a bonus chapter, so I can say goodbye satisfied enough. It's a miracle it didn't end with the Mitama disappearance arc so I'll take anything more I can get. The salmon empire will live on in our hearts.

Agravity was good, kinda felt like they were making fun of not getting axed yet

Undead was pretty good, fun action chapter

Mashle was alright, felt a bit awkwardly transitioned from last chapter, and even though Mash is taking some hits it doesn't feel super tense. Art is great though

Moriking was good, I like the new bug but the conclusion was a little weak

Bone Collection felt incredibly rushed and unsatisfying, threw everything at the wall this week but nothing stuck. The bad guy is a joke and the romance felt very abrupt. To be fair, not much they can do seeing the incoming axe, but this chapter just wasn't fun to read

Ghost Writer ???????

Ayakashi was good, nothing too standout but probably my favorite chapter so far

Magu was great, I really thought the Knight character was going to be a Chunni but the fact that he could back it up was really funny.

Dolphin was alright, had some decent jokes but the "boobs" joke being the crux of the chapter wasn't that funny

Roboco was alright, looks like it's back to jump references after a surprising lack of them last chapter

OP, MHA, and Dr Stone were all great this week. I'm optimistic about the Ashumi route in WNL after seeing this chapter but we'll have to see how it goes. Act-Age is truly a saddening loss. A great series thrown away because of one person's foolish and crazy decisions. I'm truly sorry for all fans of the series and those involved in the production of this series, be it anime, stage plays or the manga itself, especially Usazaki. I eagerly anticipate whatever she does next, however long it takes for her to come back to the medium. AA's absence in jump felt very noticeable this week, with the amount of established series falling down to 7, with two of those feeling close to the end.

Moriking's author comment dates itself as "July 29" so I guess that shows comments are submitted 13 days prior (or maybe it's normally 12 and the deadline for comments wasn't moved despite the 1 day later release)

There's a little reference to TPN in the new one-shot!!! I thought it was really solid, a good balance of horror and some really sad yet heartwarming moments. Don't know if it's fit for a serialization, at least not as it is now, but it just proves once again that the Shirai/Demisu pair can write amazing stories

BC: Don't read it. Did it by accident though. Why can't super villains just kill their opponents? Why is that so?
Because they need them alive.

Do you think we’ll get another new series announced soon after the 4 new series already announced, or do you guys think it’s just gonna be one shot’s for a while to fill Act-Age’s void

I don't really have any particular fondness for Roboco, but I hope it sticks around long enough to reference every other series in the magazine lol.

I think it'll just be one shots and then they'll just add another new series to the batch after this one.

It baffles me that the TPN Duo One-Shot was not done by VIZ or on M+... Shame, would've very much liked to read it there.

I think just one-shots for a while. Probably nothing for a bit though. Assuming Burn the Witch chapters are all ~60 pages to fill a volume that's the length of 3 normal series anyway. Plus the other new series starting with longer chapters is actually going to make Jump bigger for a few weeks even if actually has less series.

Unless they quickly move another series that was indented for another magazine I doubt they have one ready though.

Oneshots replacing Act-age's spot makes the most sense I think, they have a spot open for extra oneshots at some point every year after all. Plus they have 4 new series coming anyway, even if Burn the Witch will be only around for a month, that gives them time to get some oneshots ready for publication.

The I guess something that would've been cancelled in the next batch might get to live a little longer.

Bland week for me, but maybe I'm just not in the mood for a Jump reading session. It is probably for the best that we get a two weesk break after this, it gives us time to recover from the shock and "reconcile" with the magazine.

Anyway:
1. Magu-Chan: God of destruction: Hey look, I like Magu-chan again! It was very funny to see what would happen to a typical battle shonen hero in real life. Great character addition!
2. Mashle: Even the protagonist had his serious moment and I am finally convinced that the author can do battle shonen as well as he does comedy (art has also improved a lot). I am a bit disappointed because I thought the enemy would have been magic-less like Mashle, but he/she is still pretty cool with his-her powers.
3. Undead Unluck: Good action chapter. I like how clever every character is with their powers and how they deal with their limitations. Nen users would be proud of them!
4. Chainsaw Man: Typical "calm before the storm" chapter for this manga. I read it nervously because I know the storm will really hit big.
5. Black Clover: One of the most beloved characters is in a bad situation! I loved how the MC couldn't do anything about it.
6. Moriking: Like Magu-chan, a great new addition to the insect Royal rumble. Reminded me of the beehive i found on my balcony a week ago.
7. One piece: When your chapter is transitional, you get a transitional ranking!
8. Mitama Security: Didn't read the series, but I never miss a last chapter! "Our battle is just getting started"!
9. Bone collection: Rushed as you will, the first pages made me laugh and the last looked very stylish to me. I will never know what the girl with glasses was there for, won't I?
10. Ayakashi Triangle: So, Enemy of the Week is defeated, right? Nothing relevant happened, right? What are we here for, then? Oh, yes, fanservice, of course.
11. Hard-Boiled Cop and Dolphin: This...I can't defend it this time. Let's move on with next chapter and pretend it never happened. Also, dear Tamura, please start telling the story you are willing to tell, maybe the readers will like you more.
12. Me & Roboco: Another miss for me. Not a single really enjoyable gag, and I like reference gags when they are rare and not over-used. The mother is the best character since chapter one.
13. Time Paradox Ghostwriter: what a mess. I usually like the single chapters but...not this time. The conversation with the Deus ex-Machina left me confused more than anything. It is time for this manga to exit the stage knowing it will be remembered, in a way or another.

As for Act-Age...there isn't much more to add to everyhing you guys have already written these days. I was starting to catch up with it and I was easily immersed in this world, where every character was likeable and it's easy to find yourself rooting for the protagonist (it can't be taken from granted nowadays). I hope the best for all the people involved and I will use the two-weeks break to catch up with Jujutsu Kaisen instead of this.

Question: given that Mangplus/Viz don't seem generally keen to translate the one-shots, do you think we risk to not have an official translation for Burn the Witch?

Its 100% getting translated, its being made by the guy who made BLEACH. No way they miss out on this.
