Moderator Notice:
Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Excluding Abara, what other series have Fujimoto drew inspiration from?

Or does anyone have his bio like where he shares his fav manga?
Just because I remember him mentioning a bunch (when he wasn't talking about food). More so what he was reading/recommendations rather than favs, but:

He also did that little reference to HxH's requiem.

I saw this on Twitter, oh the irony...
Now that's what I call foreshadowing
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---

So much has happened between S8 ending and now that I forgot it ended this year. For some reason I thought it ended last year.

Remember when we thought the biggest shocker (although, not really) of the year was going to be S8 getting cancelled? Good times.
Feels like its been longer than a year. Why didn't people like s8 again?
--- Double Post Merged, ---

I liked what Rica said earlier about what future Jump serializations can bring. I forget the quote, but it was a very optimistic way of looking at it.

Jump will rebuild. One series at a time, but it will rebuild. We can celebrate the little things (Ao no Hako’s potential, MASHLE becoming a hit) and talk about how interesting Jump will become with all these new serials.

I welcome this new era. The newbiebowl is the biggest it’s ever been and I can’t wait to see who comes out on top.
This is going to be really similar to the state of jump when dragon ball ended : D

Editor update:

- Murakoshi: previously in charge of Act-Age, launching Burn the Witch and Honomieru Shounen. He was previously in charge of Bleach (and was at that BtW livestream) and launched Tokyo Shinobi Squad, so both were expected.
- Naito: launching Bokura no Ketsumei (the vampire series). Also in charge of One Piece (media).

Unknowns are Ayakashi, Dolphin, and Nakama's series (Koukousei Kazoku).

Fujimoto strikes me as a guy whose heavily invested in comics as a medium, it's telling how many of his comments are just "here's this really cool manga I read recently." If I could read Japanese I'd check out every of his recs.

Didn't realise Honomieru Shonen/The Faintly Visible Boy was already translated so I checked it out. The set-up felt a little clunky (that could be down to the translation), but some of the supernatural stuff in the second half was really nice. Haven't read Tokyo Shinobi Squad though I'm curious how Kento Matsuura's artwork has improved since this (even though it's already good). Definitely looking forward to seeing this serialised (even if it is an exorcist manga - I'll happily swap Bone Collection for it).

Also apparently Kenta Matsuura was Shiro Usazaki's assistant? Shame they couldn't be in the same magazine again at the same time...

Guys, what's going on with Kaiju No.8?

It feels like it's been forever since the last chapter released.

Edit: Derp, nevermind. It's just on mangaplus the latest chapters hadn't released. On Viz it's up.

Shouldn't it be Spy x Family 31 instead of 30?

It's going to be hard this week. There were a lot of good chapters, but I also want to give one last vote to Act-Age, and the Mitama end was fun too, even though I had stopped reading it a while ago.

Yes, my mistake, thanks

Please @Halloween edit the number in the poll to 31
