Was Ichigo 100% actually good though? From what I heard it wasnt.
It did not end with first girl introduced as winning girl, that alone is a big plus point for me.

Kawashita has such great art skills. I remember being amazed by the expressions and fight scenes of SQ's Te to Kuchi back in the day (a shame I don't know how it ended).
But I wonder if she's willing to get back to the weekly schedule of WSJ. She's almost 50 already.

I feel like Kawashita would be a better choice to see a mini-series from rather than a full new weekly manga.

Would she be allowed? She's technically had 4 failures (1 was before Ichigo 100%) with Ririmu Kiss, Hatsukoi Limited, Anedoki, Te to Kuchi. She also had a Jump SQ axe (G-Maru?) According to Wikipedia. Even if she can return to Shonen Jump she finally found a mild success after a decade of failures after Ichigo ended in a Josei magazine she might just stick to that demographic.

Dunno. Katsura had his "3 strikes" for Vander, DNA², and Shadow Lady yet he was able to come back for I"s.

We don't really know when the "3 strikes" policy came into effect do we? I''s started in 97 so it's possible it didn't yet

Weirdly enough, it still got an anime (and a good one at that).
maybe then Hatsukoi Limited wasn't axed since it also got an anime? It's 4 volumes so I always assumed it had a ton of early popular and got greenlit pretty quick then it dropped and got axed but the anime was far enough along they decided to just air it anyway.

nothing harder than avoiding jump spoilers days after its out lol, but somehow did.

Ghostwriter is going amazing places in the chapter release monday, and am hyped for it and Teppei.

Am guessing yozakura family and bone collection are ending, but feel as if theyre in their final moments. sad.

Agravity Boys was a blast, best chapter of the week.

Anyone know of this site? It's pretty neat. It has graph ToC data on pretty much every Jump series. It also helped me know how many chapters series like Black Angels or Saint Seiya had when it ran in Jump (because the volume versions combined chapters).

That makes me curious what the longest ongoing manga at any given time would be.

Obviously for a long time it was KochiKame and right now it's One Piece, but I wondered what the chain was like before Kochikame became the longest ongoing series.

According to Wikipedia, the longest current series throughout the magazine's history appears to be

Kujira Daigo, Chichi no Tamashii, & Harenchi Gakuen -- 1968 #1 to 1968 #11
Chichi no Tamashii, & Harenchi Gakuen ---------------- 1968 #11 to 1971 #44
Harenchi Gakuen ----------------------------------------- 1971 #42 to 1972 #41
Otoko Ippiki Gaki-Daisho -------------------------------- 1972 #42 to 1973 #13
Arashi! San-biki ------------------------------------------ 1973 #14 to 1973 #23
Manga Drifters & Dokonjo Gaeru ----------------------- 1973 #24 to 1975 #46
Dokonjo Gaeru ------------------------------------------- 1975 #47 to 1976 #24
Toilet Hakase --------------------------------------------- 1976 #25 to 1977 #14
Play Ball --------------------------------------------------- 1977 #15 to 1978 #31
Circuit no Okami ----------------------------------------- 1978 #32 to 1979 #32
Doberman Deka ------------------------------------------ 1979 #33 to 1979 #48
Akutare Kyojin -------------------------------------------- 1979 #49 to 1980 #9
Kochi Kame ----------------------------------------------- 1980 #10 to 2016 #42
One Piece ------------------------------------------------- 2016 #43 to current

So it seems like the longest current series changed quite often (sometimes a series would only be the longest for 10-15 chapters before it ended) until Kochikame took over from Akutare Kyojin. I suppose you could probably also figure out what chapter each series was at when it became the longest, but that sounds like too much work for me right now.

Kochikame apparently started in 1976 #42, so it's kind of interesting to me that it was running for more than 3 years before it became the longest ongoing series.

Weirdly enough, it still got an anime (and a good one at that).
I think a manga could be axe even if it was succesful for a time (enough to have an anime).

If I'm not mistaken, Nurarihyon no Mago was still canceled at the end.

People suspect it and a few other successful long-runners got soft-cancelled (i.e. maybe not suddenly ended but given a certain time period to end in), but I don't think we've ever gotten actual confirmation of any.

The only long running series weekly with an anime that was definitely cancelled that I can think of is Keijo!!!!!!!! over in Sunday. The creator of that talked about getting half a year to wrap everything up (weirdly they were told it before the anime even started).

No, the manga was cancelled after the anime, on the basis of the poor anime sales and poor manga sales iirc.

As for long running series with an anime being cancelled: Shaman King.

That's what people suspect happened, but is there actually any proof of Nura being cancelled? People insisted Bleach got cancelled for example (and some still do) but we now know Kubo rushed the end by choice due to health concerns.

Also from what I remember, Shaman King also ended early by choice because Takei felt unhappy with the direction it had been going and felt like he couldn't do the ending he wanted (or something along those lines).

No, in the documentary video that Takei did for the toco toco series, he pretty directly says that the manga was canceled.
Indirectly, when my manga started to drop in the rankings, it felt that I wasn't needed anymore. From there, finding the energy to end a series requires a lot of effort. I started not knowing what to draw anymore, I was also tired from all those years of weekly chapters, so I couldn't find the energy to put it together.

In the end, having the plug pulled was important, being asked to finish at a said time. I kind of wish I had been told sooner though...

There is a part of frustration of course, but there is also some relief. Losing popularity and getting cut off hits a blow on motivation. Rather than getting canceled, the fact of losing popularity is hard to cope with. Part of me felt rescued when I was cut off. There are different feelings I experienced, it's never a single emotion.

Thanks for the information.

I think Saint Seiya is another case. I've remember an interview where Kurumada says he was rushed to conclude the manga.

And it makes you feel even more bad for him when you remember how good he was doing with Flowers on Jump Kai being the flagship of the magazine just to get cancelled again when the magazine quickly ceased publication, not a surprise he gave the middle finger to Shueisha after it, at least Kodansha is treating him with respect.

Nura was always an outlier in the mag for whatever reason. It always had low ranks yet volume sales were great. It blows the majority of the current lineup’s sales out of the water. Series like Black Clover with much lower sales outlasted it man.
