Nobody was really talking about this. There was a recent studio Bones interview where they seem to imply that more MHA movies are planned(seems like Yonkou’s leaks about a lot of movies being scheduled may have some validity to them.

It's so weird. Cause the HeroAca community in general has some sort of awareness that the movies take talent away from the TV show, which is why there's a general air of disappointment whenever there's rumors of new movies, despite the fact that they obviously make a whole lot of money. (Hell, Heroes Rising is like a Top 10 highest-grossing anime film in the US, I believe). It's something I've found really fascinating, especially since it seems wholly unique to the fandom, IIRC.

I'm still waiting on the All Might Prequel trilogy, damnit.

I think Undead winning an upcoming manga award is very deserved, the whole ideas behind the setting and powers is really unique among manga and you can tell there's a lot of time and care put into planning out the world and the lore (plus it's good at revealing just enough of a mystery to get you excited for the future).

Axed on Chapter 15. Yeesh, what a disaster. Even Zipman!! got two chapters more xD

Though, it was hard to not see this coming. Somehow, nothing about the series really worked right from the start, it felt like.
I don't think it was a totally hopeless series (it did have a great first two placement after all), rather it just chose the completely wrong stuff to focus on. It introduced this cool girl with a distinct look to her for two chapters then proceeded to spend the rest of its run with her as some half-drawn blob in the background while a bunch of boring regular old exorcist stuff happened.

It should've focused way more on Paira and way less on dumb exorcist stuff.

I do at least hope they stagger the movie schedule. For example, instead of releasing the next movie at the same time the tv series is running, they should do it at a time when it isn’t airing so they’ll have more MHA content throughout the year.

I’m not sure which timeframe the tweet is referring to, but if it’s referring to last season, it sure doesn’t look like it had any positive effect on the tv series’ quality. From the way it implies, this arrangement is meant to relieve some of the burden on the tv production staff so the there’s no deterioration in quality. Problem is, S4 looks like 2 steps down from the previous season.

But if this is going to be how it’s going to be from here on, I can only hope they can better manage the production.

That was a sarcastic remark from Yonkou.
The tweet further states/alleges that the production of S4 coincided with that of Carole and Tuesday's, the studio's big 20th anniversary project featuring Watanabe. So that sapped as much talent from the production as the movies. Tbh, I didn't really see much of a noticeable drop in quality between S3 and S4. They still have their really high highs. Then again, I need to rewatch the series. I'm sure it can pull things around, though - I hope we don't have another Lemillion situation again. That was unfortunate.

Then again, HeroAca's anime is in a very solid (or at least very decent) position. I use it as a sort of benchmark for Jump adaptations to seperate the good and below from the truly great. I wouldn't want to be Food Wars, though. I don't think anybody seems to care about that show anymore.

The Wall
???

It's a perfectly normal ecchi and romcom action series, also the 2nd most read "2020" series on Manga Plus behind Mashle, seems like is pleasing both sides so far.
Just because people view it doesn't necessary mean they like or enjoy it. Otter is a thing.

Also pretty surprise when UU won Tsugi, when considering 3 previous winners. But Dancing midget won 2016 so lmao.

Dance Club's ending to me always felt like they had gotten tired of it and wanted to do a different sport instead. It is weird to see a cancelled creator return that fast after all.

The series did manage to wrap up the side characters' stories quite nicely after all. The main two not so much but even they had gotten over all their trauma and such so the story they had left was just to get better at dancing, and the series didn't know enough about dancing to keep things entertaining on that alone with no character drama.

I'm not gonna deny that Bones' production of MHA is still a cut above most other studios out there. Especially the ones adapting SJ works. But S4 definitely wasn't up to par with Bones' usual standard, with some off-looking scenes and overall direction. Good point about C&T, I forgot about that.

Hell, even Roboco made fun of it.
Now that I think about it, it is kind of fascinating how what’s appropriate for children in Japan is much different how it is in the US. With stuff like to love ru and CSM running in jump and DNK and AOT running in shonen magazine with little controversy while the censored versions of shaman king and naruto have gotten a lot of complaints from parents when it first aired (and that’s with the fact that the anime versions of those shows are more tame than the manga). Even nowadays series like black clover and MHA run on late night television on adult swim along with shows like rick and morty and Eric Andre. It makes me wonder how the US got to the point of it being taboo to show even a drop of blood in a kids show while Japan can get away with showing sex scenes.

I mean...it's not like the stuff Jump publishes goes unscathed by the prudish watchdogs. They were violently opposed to Harenchi Gakuen back when it ran in the late 60's early 70's. And in 1989 there was a crackdown on manga content, perhaps due to the moral panic and outrage over the Otaku Killer. One of the directly affected Jump series was Video Girl Ai, which later printings of a certian volume (forgot which one) had to change some of the more lewd things in it. This crackdown might have lead Jump to self regulate and start to censor nipples (and gore in those random HxH chapters). It might only seem like they get away with alot more because we don't live in Japan, thus we don't have a complete grasp on what might be considered too violent or sexual.
Though one thing's for sure....getting caught reading ecchi in public is embarrassing no matter were you are...
I really want to get my hands on Issue 6 of 1999, so that I could see how that one chapter of Bastard!! with the pseudo-blowjob played out in the magazine version.

One Piece is on break next week.
Isn't Oda break shedule getting worse and worse? I hope he's okay.
IIRC We started with 5 chapters and a break, then 4, after this 3 and now we are approaching to 2 chapters between breaks. 😟

I was about to say, it would be very weird ordering reprints of one kind one day and ordering new ones the following day. Better stuff for Yozakura, anyway. Still has to get that 全 reprint for a new volume, though, wonders if it'll happen in the foreseeable future.

I've been here for a while, but can't quite remember hearing much about "one by one" reprints. Anyone mind explaining what exactly that means?

Basically there are three types of reprints. 全, which are reprints that are completely distributed to bookstores, 一一, which are partially sent to bookstores and partially sent to warehouses and 手, which are all sent to warehouses and can be ordered by bookstores when necessary. They each represent different levels of demand, with more popular series/volumes usually getting 全 and less popular stuff usually getting either 一一 or 手. "One one" is 一一 because these are two kanjis for "one".

Yozakura finally got a color page! Congratulations! Perhaps it's not dead after all!
Undead Unluck won the Tsugimanga awards, like many people seemed to predict here.

EDIT: Oh, 2 consecutive CPs? I'd like to see how sales will rise from this, but safe to say that Undead Unluck may finally have the push it needs to avoid the axe.

I was mainly going by what Thundercat seems to be saying. I liked it, personally. Just haven't gotten around to it in a bit.
2 in a row? nice! Hope the Price and the two color pages as well as the extended chapter next issue help UU to rise its sales with its next volume.

BoneC ending in 15 chapters, dang, that's harsh. Next week TPG gonna end as well. And with AA unexpectedly ending earlier it either gives one of the new batch a longer chance to live or WSJ will just add another new manga to their list, I doubt they are short on send-ins from up-coming or veteran mangakas.

As for Yozakura, glad to see it get a CP for its anniversary. After its first volume sales came out everyone expected this to end sooner than later and yet it struggled and preserved and let a lot of fresh series behind who met the axe and now finally its sales are rising as the magazine desperately needs some new faces its readers want to see for the next couple years. At least I assume Yozakura will continue into the next year and why shouldn't it?^^

Roboco had a chapter that included Act-Age references. Do you guys think it will be altered in the tankobon release?

Ah, okay. I understood the kanji, but I wasn't sure how that translated into which reprints were going where, but that makes sense. Thank you very much.
