Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Not sure where this rumour of Oda absolutely refusing anything digital came from but it is def not true considering the OP twitter posts timelapses of him drawing color pages/volume covers on digital. The actual chapters were drawn manual but he might have switched over due to covid
No.

Oda only uses digital drawing for special messages, tributes to other series/mangakas or special illustrations (for example, some One Piece Magazine illustrations)... Like this one.

He uses digital drawing too for Volumes and Color Spread "sketches" (the videos that OP Staff accounts post on Twitter) but he draws and colours final versions by hand. It's explained in this article from last One Piece Magazine (you can see "Digital" and "Analog" clearly in japanese).

Horikoshi has had some pretty sick covers over the past year, the man's art just doesn't miss. Out of the entire Jump roster, he's definitely on the top tier when it comes to volume covers, volumes 25 and 27 were amazing and this one doesn't fall behind.
Yeah. Horikoshi is going full Plus Ultra in this current arc in every sense. And that include these last covers.

Volume 25 is a masterpiece. Easily my favorite Shonen Jump volume cover ever.

Hori is on fire. Love to see it.

When is Mashle going to get its own Featured Manga thread?
TPGW is going to get canceled and still has one there.

Honestly I'm a fan of any kind of content descriptors/warnings. Even as not a parent it lets me know exactly what I can expect when I read something. I'm not sure it needs to go as far as he's outlining. Maybe 3 or 4 blurbs like you see on the video games ratings "Violence" "sexual themes" "nudity" "smoking" etc

Hello to everyone, i generally just lurk around, but i would like to know the opinion of the people of this forum, about this:
I will probably get hate for this but I think there should be a content warning for any manga. Don’t get me wrong I’m not a fan of censorship (except for that Loli/shota crap as that don’t need to exist imo) but I think it would be good to know for people who are sensitive to certain subjects. Let’s say someone had a traumatic experience with sexual assault and decide to pick up Goblin slayer because they are a fan of isekai. They aren’t on the internet that often so she doesn’t know the infamous scene and picks it up because the cover looks cool. Based on the cover of both the manga and ln you wouldn’t think a series like this would have such themes.

What I’m saying is that it would be good to have a heads up for a series as many people are extremely sensitive to certain subjects and it would be smart to point out the contents of a manga as some manga are less obvious about there mature themes than others basing it off of the magazine cover, volume cover, and plot summary, some are just straight up misleading.

His whole point is pathetic, he's literally saying that because he couldn't separate fiction from reality after reading TLR and thought was okay to harrass girls, he thinks everybody else is a potential idiot like him that will think the same after reading a ecchi, this is 100% the whole "violence in games will make you pick a gun and kill everybody" that we get from time to time here, in the end maybe is just him being this kind of person at the core or a lack of education from his parents when he was a kid, not TLR fault.

Also, i'm trying to find where are all these current series on Jump that "sells women's bodies as if they are livestock" kkkk like seriously, this guy ever opened a Shonen Magazine issue? his head would probably explode.

In the end, nothing will change because it doesn't need to be changed, just another online useless petition that Shueisha will not give a shit about it

Hello to everyone, i generally just lurk around, but i would like to know the opinion of the people of this forum, about this:
"Sekiguchi claims that he was not capable of making the distinctions himself."
Sounds more like a problem on his end. And going after WSJ seems more like a scapegoated attempt than actually trying to make social changes.
And besides...most of Jump's readership is adults who should (hopefully) distinguish between fantasy and reality. There's a reason why books like Seduction of the Innocent are nothing more than relics of their time now. Honestly this just sounds like the PTA back in the late 60's-early 70's when they hounded on Harenchi Gakuen.

I do kind of agree with this. I hate the whole (entertainment is ruining the kids) argument. I’ve played gta, call of duty, mortal kombat, and many other violent video games since I was 8 and I have never replicated a single thing in these games. It’s not the manga that’s messing the kids up it’s the bad parenting. However I do agree that there should content labels his whole (blame the manga) narrative kills his argument which is the main reason I won’t support him.

I'm interested to see how women readers feel about this. Do they agree or no?
Not about the warning labels. That's an obvious yes. But about the sexualization stuff.

I don't think you will get like one final opinion on it. Its not like women are some monolithic group. Just judging from my Twitter..there are women that celebrate / love ecchi, don't mind ecchi or absolutely hate ecchi.
Also on the japanese side of Twitter i've seen mixed sentiments from women. Some don't mind it / don't care and some see it as problematic.

Overall, i see where the petition is coming from. I discovered To Love Ru as a horny teen and it didn't affect my respect for women in real life at all. Does this mean that TLR is unproblematic? No. Because Media will always influence people who are easily influenced. And thats just not with ecchi, also violent games like COD can influence people who are in an unstable state of mind. But its not like we can ban all media or make everything void of sex and violence. I feel like there should be better education in schools about media. I see a lot of young kids nowadays that are influenced by Youtube and pull some dumb pranks and stuff.

It depends on the women you ask. Some are 100% ok with it while others aren’t.

Like Westabyss and Lil meen said, it all depends on the person, to who you make this question. Another point to show the variety of visions, is the fact that the industry is full of woman, who do ecchi manga.

Putting warning labels about sexual content on Jump is kinda extreme.

I don't mind ecchi at all, well the soft ones. I have some manga I personally enjoy and they are fun. Obviously there will be different perspectives on this matter and you will never get 1 opinion that will speak for all.

When it comes to Jump itself, that's one of the issues, right? They don't have (and have never had) a single female editor, so women don't even get a seat at the table.
