Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

PS has a good first chapter, but I agree with most of you saying that it is something we have seen before multiple times. The drawings are very good for the most part.

I just hope Mashle's author has a long-term plan. The manga has been pretty serious lately, but the art style stayed more or less the same. Still, we have had Mob Psycho following a similar path, so it might work after all.

Chainsaw Man dropping so many bombs in just one chapter, a happy ending when everything is done is impossible at this point. Mashle with another solid chapter, concluding the fight nicely.

Cop and Dolphin finally going into some plot related stuff, tho I felt the change in setting felt somewhat too sudden. UU also finishing its current arc with even more world building and more plot threads being shown, I like it.

Magu-Chan with another fun and wholesome chapter, Yozakura also has a bomb of it’s own by the end. Ayakashi going for a new arc

Phantom Seer was definitely generic in many ways. But I think my take away from it is I wasn't bored, it wasn't cringe and the character chemistry was pretty alright.

Also that art was great. The MC guy's face seemed to have been designed just around how animated his expressions can be for comedy.

I'm going to give it few more chapters to see where the story goes.

A special article page for Agravity Boys in this issue, thanking for the 6th placement in Tsugi ni Kuru. Atsushi Nakamura hopes that people will buy the next volume, and announced the work on the V3 will start this week.

1. Mission: Yozakura Family - New binged manga of the week! My general opinion is that it's similar to Reborn; many episodic comedy chapters introducing lots and lots of characters, then a much needed big arc arrives, and the atmosphere turns darker and more action oriented (although it may not be a permanent shift). So currently it is in its best shape and this chapter reflects it, and while I anticipated the reveal at the end the execution didn't disappoint me. Next binge: My Hero Academia (it may take a while though)
2. Undead Unluck - Good chapter that closes the current arc and opens to new scenarios, with a possible glimpse at the end game. Makes you want to know what's next.
3. MASHLE - Is it weird that I consider this the current best battle manga?
4. Magu-Chan: God of Destruction - Best comedy of the week. I loved Ruru passion for fishing and for the first time I found the wimpy demon funny.
5. Chainsaw Man - Some much needed explanation, nothing happened but how will MC react to all that?
6. Hard-Boiled Cop and Dolphin - I would have liked to take a stroll to the bottom of the sea, but I liked a serious chapter with plot progression. We are still missing the greater scope of the villains, but I feel we'll get there soon.
7. Jujutsu Kaisen - OP character didn't dissappoint.
8. Black Clover - I always dig an organization reunion chapter, even if I don't know most of them.
9. Me & Roboco - Is it weird that I found the ghost chapter of Roboco scarier than the new horror manga? Other than that, a funnier chapter than usual, expecially with Madokaaaa's change of art style.
10. Phantom Seer - So, the new series. Seems low, but it's actually "average". I'm probably fed up with the exorcist theme since I binged Jujutsu Kaisen recently, but I'm even more tired of the "harmless girl with powers that attract the evil forces needs the protection of a strong bodyguard" theme. Isn't that also the plot of Guardian of the Witch (I'm asking 'cause I didn't read it)? I liked the talk about having talents that differs from what you desire, let's see if it will become the main theme of the series.
11. Burn the Witch - We are still in the average tier, nothing really interesting happened. I was hoping for this chapter to open up the story that will conclude in the following two, but the story seems episodic so I don't know.
12. Moriking - Underperforming chapter this week, am I growing tired of the formula? Maybe there wasn't enough Shoko.
13. Ayakashi Triangle - Nothing happened as usual, but I see the genius of the author when the chapter concludes with "next chapter, even more fanservice!". On the positive side, Lu is probably the most enjoyable girl of the group.
14. Time Paradox Ghostwriter - So the moral of the story at the end was "It doesn't matter if your series gets axed, as long as there will be at least one person that will enjoy it"? Also I was expecting the Robot ex-machina to make an appearence, at least to show satisfaction with the success of its last attempt to save the girl.

PS: 30 posts, yay! I'll start filing the poll from this week.

It seems like they have some proper faith in Yozakura now if it's getting a few different promotional things and sales have been steadily growing. I don't know if it'll ever get properly popular, but I figure there's a decent chance at this point that it'll hang around long enough to end naturally. I can't imagine it being a huge long series, but I can picture it ending around the 3 year point.

Agravity Boys meanwhile is my top guess for 'series Act-age potentially saved from cancellation next round'. I wonder if it'll be able to last long enough to gather some prestige and grow enough to be stable like Yozakura seems to have done. Though Yozakura at least always got occasional high placements and got a couple bonus colour pages while Agravity Boys hasn't had any yet.

Though I suppose there's always the possibility of Moriking doing a Spring Weapon and outlasting multiple higher selling series. Technically it's already done it to Ghost Writer (the gap was pretty small, but it did still sell better).

I really liked the first chapter of the new series. I hope they can maintain the quality on future releases.

In some parallel universe there's a reverse Jump, where all our U19 clubbers survived and all our hits got insta-canned.

I dream of a bottom-magazine manga where all the axed series host a talk show where they complain about the estabilished series.
Yeah, I have a fanfic like that in mind where all the U19 series trash-talk the successful ones while crying about their own "what if the magazine readers had taste" failures. Like they live in the cellar of the Jump magazine and have to use the backdoor while all the successful series come to work through the front and get treated like VIPs and have their own rankings, like the eternal king One Piece, the crazy Chainsawman, the "Will never die" We will never learn and so on. XD

That would be really funny. You can even add some jokes there, like:
Ghostwriter: "I came in when Tanjiro left! Tons of people know about me! I'm sure there's lots of people who love me somewhere out there! The people who voted jsut don't have taste!"
Bone Collection: "This shit wasn't fair, fucking Matsuri and Suzu ripped me off halfway into my run, and because of the author, everyone flocked to that manga instead! It's not even that good! People really only care about the tits and the "yuri"!"
ZIPMAN: "Fucking Deku. He recommended this place to me! Said I'd do well here! I trusted him, man! And what do I get - not even 19 chapters!"
Miitama Security: -wearing a pigeon head- "At least I managed to survive for a year. This place has way too many excorists and gags! What the hell are they thinking!"

This week's issue was great. Enjoyed pretty much every chapter.
I thought Phantom Seer had an extremely weak and sloppy first half, but I was completely sold by the second, the two main charactets have already grown on me. Can't say it was a great, but it had the energy and momentum to make me look forward to more.

I also loved all four of the gag manga this week. Cant believe it has come to this, but now it is the genre I enjoy the most consistently in WSJ.

However I'm really dissapointed in Burn the Witch, I enjoyed the one shot and the first chapter, but mostly because of Kubo's style and not its content, but I had to force myself through this one. I simply dont understand why this is a miniseries and what the point of it is. We are halfway through and I see no big picture or narrative cohesion here at this point. It just feels like a random early chapter of a long running manga, except bloated to twice its page count without the extra substance, even what's there feels unfocused and scattered, and the worldbuilding is completely random. As if Kubo thinks nothing matters because it will be over fast anyway, so lets just throw some ideas there and done. The ending of the one shot getting me hyped makes it an even bigger letdown, why even make it take place in the same world as Bleach when it shares absolutely nothing in any way.
