Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

But the chapter wasn't badly received here, it was the pre release that had the "muh sexual harassment" stuff because the color page leaked. Overall the manga has been praised here from chapter 1
That's simply not true. The first two chapters had some extremely problematic material that was debated here for weeks and weeks. Halloween even had to ban discussion of the first three chapters temporarily because of all the drama.
UxU has become one of my favorite weekly reads rn, however it doesn't change history.

Most of the negative discussion came from the oneshot and the colour pages before we got to read the chapter. People still talked about the one scene a bit more but it was well received here otherwise.

I mean... a series can just improve over time, ya know? A series can go from bad to good.

Yeah, but this doesn't mean it was "bad" it mean the start of UU was "controversial".
In many other forums there were no such heated discussions, either because nobody cared about the problematic stuff or simply didn't saw it as problematic or because nobody talked that much about new series there and focused more on the already established ones. Also Halloween didn't ban the discussion itself because it became heated but because it was moving into a troubling and rule-breaking direction as people defending UU got called rapists and rape supporters while UU attackers got called hysteric and overdramatic. So it was right of Halloween to curbstomp the discussion when it was no longer about the series itself but about the users of this forum.

Well, considering the reception of UU it seems for Japanese readers the first couple chapters weren't that problematic for them as it was in here. In any case I am glad we were able to move away from that discussion because it only became a shout-out and not an argument. Also glad UU is received well enough in Japan to establish it as 2nd success after Mashle of the Jump newcomers this year. I have a feeling that Ayakashi Triangle might become the third success, (alone due the fact we got no more ecchi series in Jump so a large part of the Yuuna fandom might move over to AT) once the first volume releases we will get a clearer picture for how right my feeling is.^^

about SxF sales, I wonder if it can overtake OP or simply last longer than it
then Shueisha most popular manga would be something not in there most popular magazine Jump

which (correct me if I'm wrong) have never happened in their modern history

Wasn't there one year where Nana outsold One Piece? (Nana is from Shueisha's Shojo magazine "Cookie")

NANA back in 2005 should fit the bill, I think.

I've updated the Jump song list from that top-100. Some notes here:
-Haikyuu is the title with most anime songs. All of them in the bottom though
-Dragon Ball is also tied with Haikyuu if we count GT and Super
-Gintama has 3 songs, and Slam Dunk and City Hunter 2 songs
-GET WILD AND TOUGH
-I'm really surprised about Black Clover getting a song in the 29th place. Also, about the song. Stories was for me one of the most meh BC opening songs. I'd rather prefered Black Catcher
-MHA somehow managed to enter in the list
-A lot of diversity of titles. 15 Jump series managed to get a title here.
-Bleach is the big loser for me, with no songs in the top-10. HunterxHunter, and Death Note also have failed to include any song in the list. Naruto was really lucky (its only song was literally last place)
-Temporally there is also a lot of diversity. We have Mazinger Z for 70s, then iconic songs from 80s and 90s, and some songs for 10s (the Haikyuu domination, Gurenge, MHA...)
-00s has been the weakest decade by far. From 00s we have had only Go from Naruto and DOES from Gintama (and We Are from One Piece if you cant to count it there). I think the lack of Death Note + the 00s Jump anime being stuff with too many songs which doesn't help to get at least 1-2 of them in the status of iconic (from 00s I missed Overlap from Yu-gi-oh, the third opening from The Prince of Tennis or the To Love-Ru opening song tbh)

Gotta love how people rewriting history in this thread.
Also, somewhat controversial opinion: I am lukewarm toward both Mashle and UU.
Mashle went from comedy to pure battle is fucking abysmal. While the art is serviceable, the power system is too damn lacking and the world building is one-note and over the top.
UU is meh. SCP-like organisation is its best idea and has not been utilised to its full potential. Its power system is too abstract and contrivance for most of the time.
To be fair for them, I am pretty much ambivalent toward almost all of the current line up.
And on the other hand, I am glad just Jump finally got some hits. This means more big titles for my interesting small-time Shueisha manga to leech off and live another day.

It’s really ironic that Haruka Kanata (#2 Naruto OP) didn’t even make the list, when that song imo was what introduced a lot of people to J-Rock and anime openings in general. Also, I remember that Busou Renkin’s OP was popular back then.

OP physical sales have been declining and SxF growth doesn’t seem like it’s stopping anytime soon, would not be shocked if it beat OP the year it’s anime airs

High School Family really didn't connect with me on basically anything. Feels really weak overall. Hard pass.

But it is a gag manga, so it might find its audience.

I can't wait for the Ayakashi Triangle volume releases. Excited to see the ecchi scenes uncensored.
