It's nice to see Undead volume 3 selling more than 10.5k in its second week (I saw someone mentioning 12 664 sales on Twitter but I don't know how they found these numbers) ! If the sales are really around 12k sales, it would mean volume 3 reached 30k in 10 days, and when we compare it to volume 2's 17k in 11 days, we can see an improvement of around 70 to 80%, and I can see this gap widening or at least staying the same in the following weeks since volume 2 sold around 2.9k in its third week, and I don't think volume 3 will fall below the first 2 in Shoseki, so it'll probably sell at least 5k in its third week, and I would share a similar statement about the fourth week, since volume 2 fell out of Shoseki during it.

I really like HSF. It's way funnier than I expected and the dad, cat, and little sis are great. Easily my favorite from the batch and is already up there with Magu in terms of comedy and enjoyment. The art looks bad, but the artist actually has a pretty good sense of panelling, lighting, form, etc. I think it suits the series and makes it stand out more. It was my least anticipated when batch was announced, so I'm quite surprised it ended up being this good. Looking forward to this each week.

Didn't really enjoy any of the chapters for Phantom, but I don't dislike it completely. None of the characters resonate with me and the aesthetic/setting is not interesting(I've already seen this in other manga like Mieruko, etc.). Just feels like Mob + Jujutsu + Chainsaw combined, but way worse. I actually like exorcist series, but this one is super meh/average. It feels like it'll end up cancelled. Matsuura deserves better.

The Vampire manga is even worse than Phantom. I didn't mind it at the start, but when they did a random jump that confused me, I already knew the pacing would be crap. I know it sounds harsh, but so many other titles that I thought I wouldn't like managed to make everything flow so well that I actually liked it in the end, but this manga failed. The editor should've caught that and make it better. I'm talking about the part when the little brother spills blood on the character they were helping. Randomly cut to the house after they were in the park. I thought he went to wash his shirt, but guess not. Most anticipated, but ended up being bad. GoTW all over again.

I was gonna read BTW after all 4 chapters came out, but the announcement of Part 2 makes me want to wait. I'm not in a rush to read it atm, so I don't mind. Rather not go in and then forget everything and have to read it again. It'll be like HxH where I reread the whole arc every time 10 new chapters come out.

2020 series order for me after this batch:

Undead > Magu > HSF > Roboco > Ayakashi > Mashle > Cop > Phantom > Vamp

Rest I either don't care, don't read, dropped, or already got canned.

For other series:

Chainsaw: I like the developments and revelations, but feel like this power escalation for Chainsaw Devil is too much. Overall, I like the direction and hope the climax doesn't disappoint. Previous arc started really good, but ended up meh. The Reze arc was the last time an arc went all the way through being great. Recent stuff just starts high and ends medium or low.

Jujutsu: Feels like it's dragging. Too many battles and side events. Feels like a One Piece arc. Hopefully, this doesn't reach Part 60. I did enjoy the stuff from the recent few chapters, but right before that, there were quite a few boring chapters. I'm now more interested in the aftermath than whatever else will occur in the remaining chapters of this arc. Short and concise suits Jujutsu more. It'll feel more in line with new gen Jump titles like MHA or Kimetsu.

Undead: Most interesting title in Jump atm. Never felt bored, except for a small part of the start of the Hunters arc, but that was due to me being unsure(heh) of the direction it would take. It ended up being a great arc. Huge revelations in latest chapter with big stakes. Can't wait to see what'll happen next. Would like it to slow down just a bit, but I'll just let Tozuka do his thing. Really pleased that it's getting Issue 44 cover. Nice number too, since 4 and death are homophones in Japanese.

Mashle: Don't like this battle nonsense at all. Used to be my fave of 2020, but this isn't why I liked it. Go back to the OPM/HP parody or some semblance of that. That was funny and enjoyable. The current battles are bland and poorly executed. If this is meant to be taken seriously at all, it's not working. Leave those types of fights to stuff like MHA, Jujutsu, or Chainsaw. If he wants to have serious fights, get a good battle choreographer. Also, there isn't much build up for the fights to begin with. It pains me to say this because I really liked the concept of Mashle, but this direction is just no good for me.

Magu: Still funny and enjoyable. Might feel a bit repetitive, but the occasional new character or element definitely keeps it fresh and interesting.

Roboco: Fun breather series. Gachigorilla is a beast. His presence makes the series even better.

Ayakashi: Continues to maintain interest. As long as it continues to keep the story progressing, even if slowly, I won't feel the need to dislike it like I did at the start. Shark face and the two other girls saved the series for me and keeps it interesting.

Cop: Chapters 7-10 that I read in one go were a lot better than the first 6. Still uncertain about this series, but my opinion of it has improved. Maybe I should just binge 3 or 4 chapters at a time instead of reading weekly.

Also finally read Kaiju 8 last week and caught up. Definitely a good series. Some might say it's generic, but I really enjoy it and will be looking forward to new chapters when they release. It has good mystery and intrigue, solid comedy, cool characters and designs as well. Perfect fit for me. If this was in the main Jump lineup, it would be between Undead and Magu for me.

I don't see saturated exorcist manga; different from what many here claim. We're talking about 4 exorcist manga versus 8 comedy manga, who's saturating?
As far as I know about math, 4 is not greater than 8.
Because if exorcist manga is saturated than comedy manga then we will ask for the cancellation of chainsaw man and kaisen jujutsu.
And it is not as if honomieru or Bokura were to become an absurd success, surely the 2 or at least 1 will be canceled with less than 20 chapters.
Quite different from the comedies that they hold for a long time, even selling a little, Moriking is around 20 chapters without showing signs of cancellation and Agravity boys in the 30 and a few chapters, I'm sure it will reach 50 chapters, if it continues this way form. And Moriking is capable of reaching 30.
The jump premiered only 3 exorcist manga this year, I am reluctantly considering Bone collection, but he is much more comedy, nothing there was taken seriously. And Ayakashi triangle is much more focused on ecchi, and I don't think Yabuki would be capable of killing any character to give weight to the work, just like chainsaw man and kaisen jujutsu.

All genres are saturated. Don't see the point in this ongoing argument about what's more saturated.

Pretty sure Exorcist manga are not a genre whereas Comedy is a genre. Exorcist manga such as Bone Collection are battle(action)-comedy. Ayakashi is Ecchi battle, Jujutsu and CSM are just plain battle manga.
Same can be done for comedy as well. Mashle is battle-comedy. Magu-chan is Fantasy/adventure/comedy. Agravity Boys is gender-bender (I think? Based on comments here) /Space/sci-fi/comedy. Literally every comedy is different and goes for a different audience just like how every battle manga tries to aim for a different audience. Jujutsu and CSM are the only two manga that seem to be very similar in what they aim for.

If the Japanese audience really gave a shit about saturated genre, Kimetsu (which falls under an overly saturated battle manga genre with an overly saturated theme about slaying demons) wouldn't have blown up.

It all depends on execution, after all. The issue at hand is that we’re getting too many mangas with the same exorcist theme all at once, which may make it harder for fans to judge which manga is better. It also feels like the editorial department isn’t trying very hard to suggest different themes to their authors, or even getting them to write what they really want to and just shoving the exorcist theme down their throat.

I agree with most of what you said, but in the case of the shonen jump, you have Moriking, magu chan and Roboko who are comedies with many similarities, both in structure and thematic.
And even though it's exorcism, I see differences between jujutsu and chainsaw man, which I don't see between Moriking, magu chan and Roboko.
besides that most jump comedies have many chapters with isolated history, which I see many complain about in Yozakura.
Only Mashle and Corps and douphin are concerned with telling a continuous story, even with the comedy.

We're not getting as many manga with exorcism themes as comedy.
Of the 19 manga that has in the current Jump 8 are comedy, even if mixed with action or romance.
And I speak only of jump, I don't want to talk about other magazines.

I've answered this before so I'm just going to basically paste what I said back then.

"I haven't read Moriking, so not going to comment on that.

But Magu-chan and Roboco are nothing alike. Just because they have more cute art style and some wholesome moments doesn't make them same at all. The comedy and jokes they go for are completely different.
That's like saying Ricky Gervais and Tim Minchin are alike because they are comedians and both make fun of religion when in reality their styles and execution of jokes are as different as night and day thereby attracting different audiences."

When an exorcist manga in Jump survives long enough they usually come into their own and you barely associate them as Exorcist manga.

Bleach started off as a Exorcist manga, but I’m pretty sure most ppl don’t associate it as one due to the Soul Society arc happening. And even going to the Hueco Mundo arc, they were still technically fighting the creatures they exorcise, but I just felt like a standard action manga no different than Naruto and Dragon Ball at that point.

I would say the same about Jujutsu Kaisen to some degree and Demon Slayer

With Chainsaw Man I barely associate it with exorcism, despite it definitely being one. I think of Chainsaw Man as being psychological and horror.

Most of them have your standard episodic plot where they just exorcise a few demons here and there. Then once they’re out of the introduction phase they start being their own thing

It's ok. you don't see similarities between Magu chan and Roboko, but I can't see any differences between them, sorry.
You didn't fall for the comedy overdose, but I already did. So much that I prefer the return of Samurai 8 a thousand times than any ayial comedy from jump.
And look, I read Corps and douphin and I even like it.

I think one of the main reasons why exorcism manga feel so saturated that I didn't see being mentioned yet, is that we also got two exorcist one shots by veteran author duos, one by the Shokugeki duo and one by the TPN duo.

So my issue with Honomieru Shounen and Bokura no Ketsumei is that they feel like a variation of those two oneshots, which already felt generic themselves. There isn't any big or specific twist to most of them that makes them stand out from the rest. It feels just as if the same concept was repeated multiple times in way too short of a time. This just makes me tired as a reader and craving for a new series that at least tries to stand out in some way.

As for the other exorcism manga from 2020, Bone Collection imo had entirely different issues that made me not enjoy it. It at least tried to separate itself in some way, but the art, characters and execution were severely lacking. I'd say Ayakashi Triangle is the only exorcism manga this year that is somewhat unique, although personally I'm not really a fan of ecchi manga. So I'd put both Bone Collection and Ayakashi separate from the two series and one shots mentioned above, because they are different in style.

As I said before, if you think that 4 exorcist manga are worse than the 8 comedies, then it's better to cancel chainsaw and jujutsu as well.
And leave the jump with 20 random comedies.
Even though it was an exorcism, we saw a lot of praise for the one shot by the authors of Souma and TPN.
I don't want more exorcist manga, just more diversity as I had in 2018 and 2019.

I really enjoy moriking every week. Its very fun. Very simple. Sometimes you just need something simple, calm and fun after a long week :)

And I don't think many readers are appreciating the need for this kind of thing in jump recently. Everyone seems to want more super serious ground breaking battle shonen. We have enough though... so more gag plz

Edit: and I hope moriking will do better in the future

And another thing I said before, if Honomiero and bokura sell less than 8k in the first volume, they will at least be canceled in less than 20 chapters.

In the case of comedies, the jump holds for more than 30 chapters, as it did with Mitama and will probably be with Moriking and Magu chan perhaps.

Agravity boys is another one that is always on the botton and has not been canceled yet, I bet it will reach 50 chapters, just like Yozakura. That's why I say that the saturation criticisms are very poorly directed.

It's cool to see Undead still holding up just below Yuuna in its 2nd week, in past everything seemed to start well then totally drop off after the first couple days of sales.
