Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

RIP to anyone’s hopes of Hot being the next big Jump sports series.

Curious to see what Amano’s new series is about though. Hopefully Viz picks it up

That's how I kind of felt about Kaijuu's first chapter, and it's an argument I often use for Jujutsu Kaisen.
However, I feel Kaijuu really hasn't lived up to the potential of its first chapter. Really seems to be dragging its feet by going through the motions of what every battle shonen does. Which again, isn't a problem if I was invested, but the progression feels very lazily done to me. It doesn't feel to me like the mangaka is having fun, but simply writing on autopilot for the sake of it. Having flashbacks of Heart Gear. Mostly competent everything, but lacking that magic to be invested in.
I find GrG to be a better example of a generic series with brilliant execution.
Yeah, the excitement I felt for the first chapter for Kaiju 8 just died by chapter 3-4.

One Piece turning monthly would probably be a disaster for One Piece media aside from the manga.
Just imagine the One Piece anime while the manga is on a monthly schedule
True. But then again, the argument is IF Oda cannot do weekly properly anymore. Monthly beats not having him serialize OP at all or doing it on an irregular weekly basis.
Franchise itself would suffer but there are always ways to work around that. Not highly preferred ways but still ways, nevertheless.

Full list will be tomorrow. Apparently One Piece reach to 7 Million copies for this year.

New Jump+ batch of series include new serialization by Akira Amano, seems to be a Mystery manga.

Nakano letting Amano with a detective manga go to Plus when could perfectly fit SJ and be popular, but nah lets do more exorcist and gag series :notrust

Happy for the return but i was really looking forward to be on WSJ, at least i believe we will get on MangaPlus, excited to read it :^_^

Everyone was excited about Shakunetsu, who claimed to be a detective in the preview before the first chapter.
But he ended up following the same line of beelzebub and hungry marie.

No cop and dolphin is a blatant dub of spy x family :teehee (That was one of the stranger arguments I've seen on this thread)

Not reallly, this was a mistranslation by the WSJ twitter fan acc saying it was a detective series, when announced by Shonen Jump on twitter was very clear stated was about a cop with a dolphin getting in trouble and stuff, which is the case.

Also, don't think I saw anyone here getting excited that it was a "detective" series or "cop" series. Everyone just wanted Tamura and his comedy back.

Even though it was a translation error, it ended up being the same.
People expected something different, but it wasn't that different.

I personally thought that Shakunetsu would be comedy mixed with mystery.
And so far, I've only seen comedy and I haven't seen mystery.

Cop and Dolphin never actually claimed to be in the detective genre though, it was just a mistranslation. Amano's new series however has it in the title, Kindan Suiri translates to something along the lines of Forbidden Mysteries.

It was never a mistranslation. HBDC's Promotional Page before it started its serialization stated the word "detective" 刑事 (Keiji), as in referring to Samejima's position, as well as "sea" as in the set of the series and "little girl" referring to Chako. Series just took the path it took, nothing more to it.

Even the smaller text in the left talks about an *outlaw detective that solves cases*, roughly (アウトロー刑事カレイに事件解決).

It would've been useful to distinguish in the translation by writing the more precise "police detective" [Keiji] (to distinguish it from "private detective" [Tantei]) instead of just leaving it at "detective", which most manga readers probably associate more with the latter than the former.

刑事 usually has police investigator kind of connotations, rather that a detective for mysteries in the english word's sense.

Seems like you're just projecting your own opinion in this one Stivie, its like you're trying to imply the series is a disappointment to most and etc when so far the manga is doing fine and well received

Anyway, regardless of the translation, I expected a detective manga with Tamura's comedy.
And the first three chapters even scratched that part, but the arch of the Palace left something to be desired.
He promised to show more of the ocean floor and expand the series unverse and ended up with nothing.

Touché, even though that hat Samejima has should have given hints. Anyway, I don't really get the deal with the disappointment or lack of mysteries (that literally acts as if the whole cult plot was non-existent, but that's more of a concrete series discussion so I won't butt in).

Let's take it easy, we already owe this discussion, we can't say that the series is going well, if we haven't seen the sales of the first volume.
With the jump empty as it is, it is difficult to define who is saved or not.
Also, I just talked about the part of the manga that promises to be a detective manga and then became a manga for criminals.
The disappointment with the Palace arc is my personal opinion, I'm not doing what you're accusing me of.
