Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Let's take it easy, we already owe this discussion, we can't say that the series is going well, if we haven't seen the sales of the first volume.
With the jump empty as it is, it is difficult to define who is saved or not.
Decent positions, color page in the middle, this is basically "doing fine" so far, if will sell good or keep for the long running it's another story

The same thing happened with Moriking and bone collection, it is easier for a manga to start well and get worse over time than the other way around.

I want to wait for the sales, to make sure the manga is saved.

Bone Collection isn't really a example to use in this case, it had only two good positions and dropped dead in the rankings, Cop and Dolphin is clearly doing better overall with more consistent rankings instead of just 2 good and dropping like a bomb.

I would honestly don't compare Moriking too since is a typical gag series (will naturally sell less) instead of a more plot and action oriented comedy series, it started really good but it lost steam with the time while Cop and Dolphin is getting better and better (at least in many readers opinions).

No matter the genre, if it sells cancels, unfortunately that's how it works.
Moriking had better positions than Shakunetsu and also won a CP. I thought Moriking was popular, until his disastrous sales, the world is capitalist, no matter if you like the author if the manga doesn't sell well and doesn't improve, there is no point in holding something that brings losses.
If Shakunetsu sells well it will be wonderful, otherwise it has to be canceled, unfortunately.

I took a look back at exactly a year ago (#41, 2019) to see how many series are still around from then. Never expected more series to have ended (11) than stuck around (8), but I suppose it's been massive shift for the magazine.

One Piece
Haikyuu!!
My Hero Academia
Black Clover

Yuuna-san and the Haunted Hot Springs
Kimetsu no Yaiba: Demon Slayer
Yakusoku no Neverland

We Never Learn
Dr. Stone

Act-Age
Jujutsu Kaisen
Chainsaw Man

Yui Kamio Lets Loose
Samurai 8: The Tale of Hachimaru
Double Taisei
Beast Children
Tokyo Shinobi Squad

Mission: Yozakura Family
Mitama Security: Spirit Busters

If you were to predict which series will still be running a year from now (#41, 2021) what would your guesses be? Mine is probably:
One Piece
My Hero Academia
Black Clover

We Never Learn
Dr. Stone
Jujutsu Kaisen

Chainsaw Man
Mission: Yozakura Family
Agravity Boys

Mashle
Undead Unluck

Moriking
Ayakashi Triangle
Hard-Boiled Cop and Dolphin
Magu-chan: God of Destruction

Me & Roboco
Phantom Seer
High School Family: Kokosei Kazoku
Our Blood Oath

Hiatus:
Hunter x Hunter
Burn the Witch Season 3

It actually do matter, since it's about expectations and gag series are natural low sellers, Mitama Security survived for a year selling the same/less, Spring Weapon from the same author survived for over a year with low sales too, the magazine also do matter since the same thing who is considered as a flop on Jump is considered as well received in many others, so isn't really as much about the world being capitalist but the place where a series is being published and their expectations but i don't know why you're saying all of this when isn't even the point of the comment but that a typical gag series expectations are naturally different than a series like Cop and Dolphin, sometimes you let your problem with comedy series take too much control over your opinions Stivie.

I would say basically your list, but I think Phantom Seer, Cop and Dolphin and Yozakura will still be alive by that issue next year. Idk about Our Blood Oath, but it doesn't seem that popular and has pretty low views on its PV (It has 13k, I know it isn't completely accurate but it shows that it doesn't have that much attention when HS Family has 40k views, and Phantom Seer has 227K views) so you are probably right about that.

I have no problem with the series, as I have repeated it several times, I have no problem with the series as long as it sells well.
The thought that I have with Shakunetsu is the same as that I have with Phantom seer or any other, regardless of whether it is comedy or not.
You are putting your taste for the author in your opinions, it was the same thing with samurai 8, you saw that the manga would not survive with those sales and even so, defended that he was great.

Hmm, I think Cop and Dolphin is currently doing well, and is currently being well received. In the future when vol sales are released and it does bad, you should say its doing badly, but right now I don't think you should be too pessimistic with it because everything seems good for the series.

Yozakura will be celebrating it 2nd anniversary and it will still be the comments about being canceled in some moment lol kkkk, seriously, the underestimating towards the series is getting a bit old specially considering how the series is improving more and more.

Ehh you're mixing personal opinion about content with things like sales, i don't care about sales when enjoying a series, it don't change my enjoyment, S8 being one case, but never tried to act like the series wasn't selling poorly, but you do let your problem with gag/comedy series take control sometimes in your opinions, which makes it sound very negative/pessimist

I'm realistic, I just want to wait for the sales of the volumes to be sure.
I was very confident with Moriking before the sales, and I frowned.
Being cautious is not wrong, and if you go to the positions of TOC, roboko is much better than Ayakashi, Shakunetsu and magu chan, even though he doesn't have CP yet.

Who is mixing personal opinion is you, I'm just trying to be cautious with the jump series.
If you want all the jump comedies to be an absurd success, fine. Now I want to wait and see.

I think Yozakura Family can reach 100 chapters. I see him as a type of Hinomaru zumou, sells enough to survive and any manga that sells less than Yozakura is canceled.

Yozakura feels like the underdog of current Jump to me, it's a year into its run now yet still oddly feels like an at risk newbie (compared to the last few hits all having a very unarguably solid position by the 50 chapter mark).

I'm curious how it stacks up to how series from the past that got cancelled later on were doing at this point.

I looked up how RxL and Spring Weapon compare last week but I'm not sure on series older than that. For reference RxL was pretty dead in the ToC for most of its run and sales dropped every volume, while Spring Weapon mostly hung around the edge of the bottom 5 with some jumps up and some drops to bottom 3 (similar to Yozakura's positions) but it sold much less and the magazine was more competitive when it ran too.

I'm thinking stuff that got axed 60-90 chapters in like Magico, Hokenshitsu no Shinigami, Kurogane, and so on.

It's true. Though her new manga is going to be on Jump+ she is not coming back to WSJ if that is what you are talking about.
