And what does that have to do with him? Is he supposed to write a comment telling everyone about it?
In the sense that a sudden break due to an illness cannot be foreseen.

While in theory an author should know when a magazine takes a break, right?

I hope issue 50 cover is MHA. Would be nice to end Jump 2020 with it.

And we got both the anime and the movie of Kimetsu licensed in Spain :hip

MHA is the only possibility I actually see for issue 50 cover if they don't start a new round of serialization there. But who knows.

That is what it say in the oficial page of Shueisha.
It still seems strange to me.

No announcements, no explanations, no double issue.

Pandemic happened, so it’s a really weird year for everything. Probably no need to announce anything; it’s just that the number may be off this year due to the few Covid breaks they took and just Covid in general

When there is a announcement outside the oficial page and in the magazine?? If it is like that they will publish it in the previus magazine like they always do.

The past breaks were announced months in advance

With the previous breaks they added extra double issues to keep the number consistent to 52 and they were just for one week. If this break is true it would be unlike the other covid related breaks so far. I find it more likely for the schedule to be a mistake

It'll just be an oversight. This is the the 3rd of 4th time this year people have panicked over a missing schedule which turned out to be nothing.

Ninku ended by choice at ~80 chapters (people said it's because the creator found it too hard to research different martial arts or something?)
Sexy Commando also ended at ~80 chapters, jp wikipedia says it's because the creator was really struggling to keep up with a weekly schedule and ended it as a result

Death Note lasted 108 chapters and is probably the shortest manga to have a natural complete end (besides mini-series and maybe some forgotten older manga), since those two quit due to struggling with their series.

Would you count Death Note with its 108 chapters as "really early" or would that already be too long lasting?

@Minsel

Plenty of manga before the 80s wasn't nearly as long as today (They have been getting longer and longer, at least during the 90s-00s but some of JUMP's biggest hits from the 10s have gotten shorter too, KnY, AssClass, TpN are examples compared to the hits of the 00s like BLEACH, Naruto or Gintama, personally I think this approach of short hits can be a good thing for Jump, we will see, anyway I'll stick to manga with 10 volumes or less)

Level E by Yoshihiro Togashi, Togashi was allowed to publish this 3 volume manga on a monthly basis because it's Togashi of course they would allow it.

Hatsukoi Limited. I think the general consensus back then (2007-2008) was that this was a short serial, it even had an anime with only 4 volumes.

Every Akira Toriyama manga post Dragon Ball IIRC was planned as a short serialization.

DNA2 it's a romance comedy manga from the 90s made by Masakazu Katsura (I''s, Video Girl Ai) which I think didn't get cancelled despite getting only 5 volumes, like it seems like a complete series to me, not rushed, etc.. And it even got an anime adaptation.
Talking about Katsura 15 volumes seems to be his gold standard for manga, all his WSJ hits were 15 volume in length, Wingman had an anime adaptation, I''s and Video Girl ai were hits too averaging a million per volume and even receiving a series of OVAs and even doramas just last year, these 15 volume manga were definetly not cancelled.

As a special mention Barefoot gen lasted for 10 volumes although it began in WSJ it was "cancelled" in Jump but continued its publication in other 3 magazines, so I mention it because even though it was cancelled in WSJ its full run was only 10 volumes.

DNA2 and Hatsukoi Limited were both cancelled according to their jp wikipedia articles.

There doesn't seem to be anything about why they still got anime however. My guess is an anime started production very early on due to the big name creators and good early performance, and the studio maybe didn't want to/couldn't cancel production after they had already started. That or a studio head was a huge fan.

Kinda interesting to me that Seer, Blood Oath and High School Family are each releasing their first volume in a different month, kinda like the Undead, Mashle and Witch batch. Doubt it means anything but interesting to see. Also interesting that Magu gets it's second volume a month before Dolphin and Roboco.
