Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Yay, Hero Academia getting issue 2021 first cover. I feel 2021 is going to be a good year for MHA.

Honomieru Shonen in the very bottom hurts me. And yay more cps for Yozakura (cover soon please)

PS: That Jujutsu Kaisen cover and lcp are awesome

Jump will probably try to push My Hero Academia a lot this year. The magazine only has 3 huge hits right now (One Piece, My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen) so they have to keep those 3 at the top at least. One Piece is a staple and Jujutsu Kaisen is already getting all the push it needs. As for the other hits, Chainsaw Man is probably ending soon so they can't do a lot about it and it's almost impossible for Black Clover and Dr. Stone to show any resemblance of growth, they'll just get their usual covers and CPs probably.

There should be a lot of Mashle and Ayakashi Triangle as well and possibly Yozakura given the recent trend. I'm not so sure about Undead Unluck since it's placements haven't been really good, but it's still one of the best sellers out of all the newbies. I can see them pushing the hell out of Build King if it manages to sell well and be well received, but only time will tell.

Could it really be the movie again though if the movie was already officially announced twice already?(once in this week’s issue, and the Website)
I'm not sure if that counts as an announcement and not just a teaser.

Issue #2 cover is probably CSM since it didnt even get a regular CP for its 2nd anniversary next issue and this might be the last chance it has of getting one.

How are you not so sure UU will be promoted a lot. Mashle and it have been part of the same push campaign and got same amount of CPs. No reason for it to start getting promoted less with the state of the magazine now. Certainly not promoted less than Yozakura lmao.

Doesn’t this magazine have the full poster we already saw, and has the info that it’s a film, and that its releasing in Summer 2021? Idk what else there is to announce about the film since I can’t see us getting another poster, plot details, or character designs until at least Jump Festa

Final TOC of the 2020 issues and it's pretty unsurprising. Only real noteworthy things:
  • That Jujutsu Kaisen cover is excellent.
  • Mashle in the top 3 is great, with the introduction at the end of last week I'm thrilled to see where the story goes now.
  • Me & Roboco with another good ranking.
  • Chainsaw Man a bit lower than usual but it doesn't matter at this point.
  • Phantom Seer still not a good place at all, need those sales to be a lifesaver. Meanwhile Our Blood Oath is dead last again (who is surprised?)

Average ToC placements of 2020. Orange is for covers &/or lead color pages, yellow is for the second place (or first place for some), pink is for color pages and red is for absence.

Notes: Since people will quesiton this, yes, cover, LCPs and CPs all count for the average numbers in my tables. I base my compilations on both Jajanken and a user from Tieba who both do the same. The only difference is that I don't count things such as one-shots and special chapters, which is done by Jajanken but not by the user from Tieba. I agree with their views for a few reasons but I am too lazy to elaborate on them lol. Anyway, I apologize beforehand if there are any mistakes, if you notice them you can point them out. Also, if anyone wants to post their own compilation of the averages feel free to do so as well.
Thank you for this! I was hoping someone had all this data so this is much appreciated.

Obviously there's been a change in trends in recent weeks compared to earlier in the year (Mission: Yozakura Family for example) but seeing Me & Roboco as the 5th best ranked ongoing series across the year just below the three pillars of the magazine and Dr. Stone is wild. As a fan, I'm thrilled. I'm curious, how many newcomers in previous years have ranked this high by yearly averages?

I expect it'll find itself averaging around the middle more in 2021 but this gives me hope for its future in the magazine with such a strong start. Now to see if the sales gradually increase over time.

More likely next week if 53 weeks
But if 52 weeks, then it has to happen soon (~7-9 hours from now) I believe. And even then, that would be late for Oricon's standard, so 53 weeks looks very likely now

Weekly Shonen Jump #52 Cover Page
Weirdly reminds me of Parasyte.

Gege is such a godly artist when it comes to colored stuff. The colors truly lifts his art to the next level.
He might end up as one of my favorite artists from WSJ ever if he keeps it up with these CPs/Covers/LCPs

Maximum comfiness has been achieved! This CP looks fantastic, and I think the author has already shown a pretty nice improvement in their artistic style in a relatively short time, similar to what occurred with Undead.
I think Undead is still going to be getting some push in the coming year. Just because it was a little low in the past couple issues, it's still part of that big campaign with Mashle, as well as the fact that it's one of 3 new series this year to be selling over 30k. I think if Roboco, Magu-chan and Dolphin grow with their second volumes that we might end up seeing them start to get pushed a bit too. Hopefully they'll give Yozakura some more pushing next year.

Build King is 100% going to be getting pushed right from the get-go. I think it's first chapter will rank really high from an actual vote count, but I could even see them giving its first chapter #1 in the TOC once it starts ranking. However, I think they'll play it a bit safe and print less copies initially than they did for Samurai 8 just so they don't end up with that embarrassing situation again. They will 100% give it a higher initial print than Magu-chan/Roboco/Dolphin though
