I know I’m a bit to early on this, but CSM is definitely in my top 3 jump series of all time (behind gintama and slam dunk), top 20 of all time, and shonen jump’s best manga of the 10’s. This manga will definitely be a timeless classic in the future as shonen jump’s “dark horse” series from the 2010s. I will honestly never forget this journey, filled with laughter, disturbing, and depressing moments. I really hope the anime adaptation is incredible, because it deserves it. Never have a shonen protagonist really make me relate to a character like Denji. The characters were so well written that I felt like I knew them for years. I really hope fujimoto comes back to shonen jump because the magazine won’t be the same after it leaves. Man am I probably cry a whole ocean when this series ends, man 2021 gonna be the year of tears in anime with CSM, AOT, and to your eternity. I seriously can’t tell you guys how many emotions this chapter hit. Goodbye CSM, future is best.

First time ranking my comedybowl session here I guess. Not including AB because I still refuse to read that and Cop and Dolphin because I’m still catching up on the backlog (didn’t like chapter 1 much but I’m probably going to try finishing it out anyway).

1. Magu-chan: Wins for me every week so no surprise here yet again. Hilarious chapter, tons of funny panels and I’m so glad all the characters are here for fun interactions even in single-character focus chapters like this one. The end KILLED me I know it’s just a reference but I chuckled at that for two minutes straight. Man I missed Uneras, so glad to have her back (even though last week was a phenomenal chapter regardless). Naputaaku has truly stolen my heart, I root for the little goofball every time. Hopefully he’s learned his lesson this time though.
2. Sakamoto Days: I’m a little let down this week honestly, not as strong as the first two chapters but still had its moments; the beginning was particularly funny. Sakamoto and Shin continuing to show up the new character with their cheesy action can be quite funny if it continues. I appreciate what they were going for with the crazy paneling in the one scene but honestly can’t tell if I like the execution or not. Not super happy about the jokes at the expense of Sakamoto’s weight coming back again, I know why they did what they did at the end but ehhhh the fat guy likes food jokes feel cliché. At least he used those dango with style.
3. Moriking: First chapter of this in a while that really made me go “d’awww.” Nice symbolism at the end. Since it’s not ending this month based on MangaPlus IDs I’m guessing we’re in for three chapters to finish the tournament and then an extra or two to wrap things up. The naked jokes really got old fast though.
4. High School Family: Was HSF I suppose. I kinda want another Gomez chapter soon, can’t go wrong with cat antics (maybe not a poop chapter next time though). Gotta admire Dad’s earnest attitude here though, and I guess we’re getting a spokon after all :P A more subtle thing I’ve been liking lately is showing Kotaro hanging around with the other kid his age, they don’t play it up that much but it is nice that between him and the other girl he’s getting the little peer group he wanted after all even when his family is around. I expect him to reflect on this sooner or later.
5. Roboco: Unpopular opinion maybe, but biiiiig yikes. Do NOT like the implications going on here with Bondo and Roboco, honestly it’s just more uncomfortable than funny to me. Disliked last week’s chapter as well; I finally warmed up to this manga but it’s on the fast track to droptown again if this keeps up. Which is a shame, because the good chapters can be a decently fun time. Cool action mom here though. Oh Gorilla, bless your heart, you’re easily the best part of this manga.

Overall meh gagbowl this time besides Magu-chan which continues to be the highlight of my week. Really hoping that Sakamoto picks it back up a bit—I still like it but this time it didn’t win me as much as the first two chapters. After finals week I plan on picking up SxF in Jump+ and going through CSM after it ends. I know CSM isn’t a lighthearted manga whatsoever so it’s contrary to my usual tastes but I want the Pochita plush from Festa dammit.

JJK: YES! HE GOT OWNED! FINALLY! Loved that hunt scene, showing who is the hunted and who the hunter. So much for your big words, du-uh? Wait, that ending-no, nononononono, don't you dare take that from me! Don't you dare! DON'T!

MHA: Are we sure Bakugo ain't the real MC of this series? Also god, his naming sense is criminal! Like give him 2 years top for each cringe word he used to describe himself and he would get like 200 years for coming up with that combo! Well, looks like this a wrap up, boys. Shame though, I hoped the villains would get something done but eh.

Mashle: I liked the sand dude's magic, looked pretty cool. "The power to sway hearts." *rereads the past 41 chapters* That's a pretty gentle way of describing how it is actually done. xD

BC: Not reading.

SD: Oh, the future Ms. Shin, I suppose? Pretty cute and quite fast, very righteous. Also with the conclusion of that fight... I am fine with the transformation from fat to thin but where the hell did the mustache go??? Is it fake?!?!?!?!

DS: Diamonds can be used as batteries, really? *checks the internet* Oh, it can, at least in theory and some tests. But it would be radioactive af, so.... Still pretty cool.

Magu-chan: See, this is why Naputaku is my fav. He is fun incarnate. Dude is just the best. He is the Donald Duck of this series, unlucky, hard working, wants the easy way out, always falls down, always gets up. I hope if they get a popularity poll that he is in place 1. <3

BK: Lots of stuff happening but one question: Shouldn't the wood at least be in pretty damn bad shape if it was emerged in salt water? Or are all materials in this world so magical that they are immune to salt water? That question outta my system, here is another: IS THAT A WOMAN??? I thought Toriko was a sausage fest and now we get a cute girl? Dang, he did grow as a mangaka after all. He knows the value of panties for the readers. XD

Yozakura: Cool gramps is cool.

M&R: Goddamn, Roboco is cute! Gorilla Gachi is the strongest?! MAMA-SAN IS THE STRONGEST?!?!?!?! o.O

AT: Damn, being Sharkbro is suffering..... or is it? Suzu is really cool and talented, I like her powers. Love how Matsuki is the totally brainless Heroine of this series despite being the first MC, but the more I read it the more it feels like Suzu is the real first MC and not the heroine and Matsuki is actually the heroine and not the first MC. And poor Sharkbro just gets thrown into this mess so that you have a triangle while he suffers. At least he gets thrown some bone his way, that's something.^^

TPN: Sad past background story is sad. I really wanna read a story about "Mom Emma" now though.

HBC&D: Guess they live there now.

WNL: That was a boring kiss, some of the others were either hotter or more romantic, this was just lackluster. Man, the Sensei arc really wasn't as great as hoped for.

CSM: ....Is it bad that this chapter made me hungry? I am so glad that Power's blood was the true MVP of this battle, so much for looking down on Power, Makima! And I love the way Denji just goes on about his business so easy-going and chatting so lightly all the way, Real creepy and intense at the same time.
I gonna miss it.

HSF: Can we just change the series into 45 year old dad joining highschool volleyball team to fulfill his childhood-dream and keep it that way?

UU: Woha... seriously both Suzu and Fuuko keep impressing me over and over. Love how Fuuko reacted to Victhor's apperance, girl got the gunslinger blood in her already. Same with how she managed to keep staying sane for 200 years despite getting her head blown off each time she jumped a chapter. The 7 (!!!!) spreads were really good as well, especially loved the "Deadline" one, that one was so cool! Still a shame this mangaka rushes things so quickly, I really wanted this to slow down a bit more for this flashback arc, just 2-3 more chapters or so. >.<

MK: Rip.

AB: Oh lol, series is saved, guys. This was so funny and well drawn, loved Grislow's drama and his desperate expression while Volk just looked like...that. It was just great. Same with the P-word and the 19 years part. Are we allowed to talk about genitals here if we keep it strictly related to jokes? In any case this went full Bleach after a great running and exhausting stop part of Grislow and him meeting his own Zangetsu, sorry, Chingetsu. XDDD

PS: Well, that's one way of asking someone for a favor, I guess. Pretty clumsy way if you ask me though.

OBO: Yadda yadda.

I just realized that after the following 2 issues, Undead and Mashle will technically both be on the "older" half (9 series) of the 19 remaining series currently being serialized. Ayakashi will be the oldest of the "newer" half (9 series). The name of the series that holds the delicate balance between "veteran" series and up-and-coming newbies: none other than Moriking itself (the 10th oldest series out of 19).

Yozakura and Agravity will become the sixth and seventh oldest series in the magazine once Chainsaw Man and We Never Learn conclude.

The question is, once CSM and WNL are gone, how long will Agravity Boys keep going as the 7th oldest series?

Yozakura is safe there as sixth oldest at this point now just about in the 30k club which we know is enough to get a full run in recent jump, but Agravity Boys seems to be about the same as it started in terms of popularity.

So far it's been just popular enough that it's above the new total flops and there's been a lot of long runners ending, but will that be enough to keep saving it in year 2 of serialisation?

I mean we're starting to establish new series as the replacements ie: Yozakura, MASHLE, Undead, Magu, Roboco, somewhat Hard Boiled Cop and Dolphin. Once like those get their next volumes I imagine Agravity Boys staying will be under serious discussion

You never really know how things will go though, maybe we'll keep getting enough total flops all year for it to keep scraping by until it hits its second anniversary.

There's certainly enough currently performing worse for it survive the next couple batches unless they kick off 2021 with a big one like 2017.

With the results of the issue #52, our poll completed 1 entire year of existence!

We started with the issue #51 of 2019, at first Buranchi doing everything and the system being the simple "3 series", but quickly Buranchi passed to me the duties of opening the votes, counting and posting the results, since them the system changed quite a lot, i know some users didn't liked the changes, i understand, some weren't really good but that's the nature of the experimentations and my goal from the beginning was to make sure the polls were as diverse and fair as possible and users could have a good range of choices so the results wouldn't become just a club with the same series getting votes, and despite some struggle in the middle i think at the moment we have a solid and fair vote system.

So since we close fiscal year of 2020 and completed 1 year, i decided to count all the points for each series that participated between the issue #51 of 2019 to #52 of 2020 and organize in a ranking of the most voted and popular series of the year, and here are the results:

Notes:

-These are the hard numbers, yes some series were published during only certain system of votes so obviously X series would naturally have less points than Y series published in other system, but is just no use to try and separate things or applying context of the time, so the results are simply the total of votes and points.
-Series in red are completed.

A little bonus, the series with the most 1st place in the year:

1. Chainsaw Man (21)
2. Jujutsu Kaisen (7)
3. Undead Unluck (4)
4. Act-Age (4)
5. My Hero Academia (3)
6. One Piece (2)

9. Sakamoto Days (1)
10. Haikyuu!! (1)
11. Kimetsu no Yaiba (1)
12. Mitama Security (1)
13. Time Paradox Ghostwriter (1)

And that's it, 2020 completed, thanks to Buranchi aka @Halloween for everything, helping me during the year with the results and etc, and all users of the forum that voted during the year, be just in one issue or most issues, the users that still voting and the ones that stopped in the middle, all users were relevant to the results during the year of 2020 and i wish you guys keep participating and voting in our polls during 2021, thanks!

Chainsaw Man is the favorite of this forum and it's not even close, wonder where all those votes are going to go starting in two weeks!

Doing this made me realise Time Paradox Ghostwriter was something else despite flopping that hard, only 14 chapters and got almost 1.000 points and the only series besides Sakamoto Days to get a 1st place in the first chapter, impressive.

Edited the post adding a color red for the completed series

I read it long after it was already dead (like just a couple weeks ago in fact) so I knew where it was going but I can sort of see why people were really into it at first. It was a concept with potential, was pretty engaging production drama for the first few chapters and the art pops a lot. But by the time it was halfway through it felt like it was just pulling itself along for the sake of it. Teppei became a shallow vessel for this weird prophecy thing instead of us getting a deep look into him grappling with the highs and lows of his career and consequences of his actions. Plus the message just kinda got muddled at the end to the point where I can't really tell you what the message is, which I guess is because an ending had to be rushed out the door. Also Aino's reaction to like, everything felt a little unnatural imo, which just makes Teppei's position even more shallow.

But uh, yeah, I digress. It did have a promising start and it's kind of just a shame what it ended up being overall. I really, really hope Sakamoto doesn't suffer from the same curse in the long run and that this chapter was just a temporary weak point.

TPGW is probably gonna get me to check out Bakuman though so hey there's that.

I don't understand how KNY can be that well sold yet rank that bad on popularity polls ahah.

Final arc, specially the final battle with Muzan wasn't really that popular with users here, same applies to The Promised Neverland final arc that is even lower, many were probably just a bit tired of how long the fights were

Build King is so indistinguishable from Toriko, Toriko himself forgot this wasn't his manga and showed up
pretty cool chapter, good progress, world building and cast additions
look like we're heading into Hunter/Chunnin/Hero/Defense corp exams arc

Sakamoto was pretty cool and funny, I still think abandoning killing and gore really hurts the action scenes
both Jump's out of shape mcs Sakamoto and Roboco have alternate skinny mode and they both decided to show them off this week

overall, good chapters from the new series

Preview HQ.

next week music oneshot art kinda looks like the Crocodile's scribbles, a former assistant maybe?

Does anybody else feels like this trial chapters of Mashle have been extremely similar to Kimetsu's introduction of the hashiras? Their quirky behavior and name drop things already felt similar last week and today we even got
the elder tutor-figure and the cool and quite "hashira" advocating for the protagonist
this was what I was thinking too, the visionaries, the headmaster, Rayan's plea... it's all pillars like
but hey, innocent zero's man in shadow looks scary and not like Michael Jackson so that's nice

Just thought I’d let you guys know, this week’s Build King had several character cameos from Shimabu’s previous series.

I noticed four so far. Toriko, Komatsu, Coco and Takeshi.
Chuba from Chingiri was there too
