Huge week for Jujutsu Kaisen, also big numbers for Kaijuu No.8, it's already miles ahead of Jigokuraku. Undead Unluck seems to have improved, while Ayakashi should be more or less the same (to be fair though, the difference in estimation between #50 and #100 is abysmal). Honomieru Shounen seems to be on the safe spectrum now, pretty good sales when compared to other newbies.

Also jesus christ, did they actually UNDERESTIMATE KAIJU 8?

It's probably like 60k for the first 3 days

Holy fuck the JJK backlog on weekly. Unless shoseki overshot we're looking at something like 100k per volume or close to that, it's gonna be its first week above 1mln on series. Buckle up, 2021's rush for #1 might just be interesting...

Gaiden is already out of stock after 2 days, lol. Amazing debut for kaiju. PS actually did better than roboco so that'll probably keep it safe for a while.

I said a time ago to Stivie that i thought Phantom Seer would be like Magu-chan, bad rankings but decent sales at the first volume but i really didn't expect to "sell" better than the 3 kkkk

Yup, it already seems like I was wrong on JJK and I'm always happy to underestimate a series...overestimating sucks though. Now I'm only waiting to see how far it'll go. Kaiju really exploded as well, I haven't started reading it besides the first chapter which was good but not great for me.
I hope I'm not overhyping it but while writing I'm thinking...What happens next 3 months to all Kimetsu fans that will not have a volume to buy, and they might just transfer to Jujutsu and with little luck and a very good story to Shibashii, and with so little highly established series it's an amazing time for veterans to return

What we can conclude from Phantom Seer's 8-9k sales in 3 days (I don't even know how it sold so much, its rankings were worse than Magu, C&D and Roboco's, but in the end, it sold about the same numbers in 3 days as the others sold in 5) is that Cop & Dolphin definitely isn't that safe, it's currently the 3rd worst selling series in the magazine, only in front of Moriking and Agravity, and while OBO will probably be a flop, Cop & Dolphin won't have a lot of mangas behind it once Moriking is axed (and AB will probably be axed some day)

Didn't see anyone posting but Hiroshi Shiibashi updated his bio on twitter with a "coming soon" for 2021, last time he did this was before starting Kamio Yui in 2019, so he's much probably working in a new series now, i would be really surprised if is on Shonen Jump, i think it will be on Plus.
Does Toshiaki Iwashiro have a Twitter or are there any news from him?
With both Kaijuu 8's success and Tamura returning he could return, and maybe Plus might suit his style of a slow beginning better.

No, he's been very quiet since his last one shot on GIGA in 2017.

It's a mix of Undead growing from vol 3 and also that Yuuna has a special edition with a OVA so sales for the last volume are split.

Yeah, estimations are going to be weird as fuck this week, but the fact that it's above Yuuna is a good sign, that did 21k last volume and final volumes tend to do a little bit better. I wouldn't expect actually 28k, but seems to be an improvement nonetheless.

edit: oh, nevermind, didn't realize it had a special edition. That changes stuff somewhat.

Phantom Seer doing ok is a relief, hopefully it can land better spots in the toc after this like Yozakura and Magu-chan. From what I have seen people have had trouble finding copies in stores as well, so another good sign.

So if my math is not wrong Shoseki estimates for the newbies are:

Undead Unluck vol 4: 28,262
Ayakashi Triangle vol 2: 32,888
Phantom Seer vol 1: 8,675

UU and AT ranked in Oricon last time (which was also a 3-day week), so comparisons are not entirely proper, but UU seems to have increased (vol 3 was 17,934) and AT doesn´t appear to have grown (vol 1 was 33,114). PS is tracking similar to UU vol 1 (7,610 in 3 days)

Jujutsu Kaisen is the Kimetsu no Yaiba
well that's huge, all above 50k at least, that's its best week so far, should be above 700k this week

Nice Kaiju 8, that's better than SxF (38k if I recall) but what will be is cellar, can it achieve 1 million per volume ?

Kinda happy for Honomieru Shounen, It will stay a bit in Jump !
I love the art since I discovered Tokyo Shinobi Squad (which sold 2-3k first week)
so huge gain...

I tend to think of its trajectory to be similar to Bleach. It just needs a longer, major arc to really kick the story in high gear. If it can do that by Vol.3, it should be safe and slowly grow from there.

The series is decently good with well-thought out characters. The author strikes me as having a pretty good idea of what he wants out of the story. He just needs that breakthrough moment like SS arc, Chuunin exams, or Sports Festival arc.

Here comes Phantom Seer to do the third-biggest debut of newbies in Shoseki.

15 458 (4) | MASHLE
11 330 (6) | Mission: Yozakura Family

8 675 (3) | Phantom Seer
8 637 (5) | Me & Roboco
8 400 (5) | Magu-chan
7 610 (3) | Undead Unluck
5 186 (3) | AGRAVITY BOYS
4 953 (6) | Mitama Security
4 740 (6) | Time Paradox Ghostwriter
4 173 (6) | Moriking
3 168 (5) | Guardian of the Witch
2 520 (6) | Bone Collection

No Rank (*) | ZIPMAN!!

Honestly didn't expect less, been saying for days it would do similar numbers to the previous trio, and right on, same numbers as Roboco and Magu but of course in 2 days less. Really hoping this stops the axe trash talk over a series that has hit Bottom 1, when the magazine has 2 of them going for 4 and 6 volumes respectively, not to mention that both HSF and OBO are getting the same exact placements too.

Good numbers for Undead and Ayakashi, but still a shame none won't chart in Oricon. This is what we get thanks to KnY and JJK covering it all, and it was kind expected given Kimetsu was reprinted this week and Jujutsu has backlog enough to go on.
