Director Yabuta (Vinland Saga) said he was running his own project and he joined Mappa a few months ago so I'm sure he'll be the one.

By the way, he is a specialist in directing 3DCG.

This is going to be off topic but Yabuta already worked with MAPPA in 2017 with Inuyashiki, and thats because of it that people were worried with Vinland 3D usage, because to put it nicely, it sucked in that series. Of course he has improved and it showed with, but better just not put it in there as yet without knowing more.

I agree with you, but I believe that now Mappa has the resources and contacts to offer a good 3DCG

Mappa did Dorohedoro, which was a fully CG anime, and that looked great. Wouldn't mind if it looked something like that, although I don't want to get my hopes up.

What great news so far!

• Chainsaw Man continuing/concluding in Jump+ is good to hear, I'll take anything that keeps it going so long as that's the way the story is supposed to go. Wonder if it'll be a fast transfer or we'll have to wait. I'm pumped.
• Chainsaw Man anime is more expected, but I'm happy for it. Also, MAPPA is not a bad studio by any means. Their workloads has grown in the past two years but it's clearly not the little studio it first was when Masao Maruyama left Madhouse. I think we're in safe hands with this one.
• Shiro Usazaki returning with a one shot already is amazing! And a lawyer suspense drama? That's way different than what our current roster has so I can't wait to read it (hope someone translates it)

Does anyone have the link to Ritake Ishikawa's ones hot (Are no Hi Misanga) from Jump+ back in October by any chance?

Now we are entering in fun times to see what manga will be the next one to get anime, and when. Yozakura, Mashle and Undead Unluck are the top contenders, and the when can easily be 2023.

Studio MAPPA is slated to do the anime adaptation of Chainsaw Man. It has also been revealed that the 1st Part of Chainsaw Man has ended in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #2. The 2nd Part of the series will be serialised in Jump+ (Date TBA).

A pretty solid TOC to round off today's good news:

• Black Clover at 2nd is very impressive. Mashle at 3rd again as it was two weeks ago, also very nice.
• Me & Roboco still in the top 5, we love to see it.
• Magu-chan back to the middle this week after being 3rd, but still a solid placement.
• Hard-Boiled Cop and Dolphin just touching that bottom 5, it's definitely one of the 2020 series to keep an eye on to see how it fairs in coming weeks.
• Phantom Seer isn't dead last! Progress! Our Blood Oath wanted its spot back.

According to leaker, the cover is One Piece.

With chapter 1000 I was seeing we weren't going to get a Christmas cover, but they were going to repeat 2017 year. Expect the cover being a half-cover, while issue 5-6 cover has the other half part, completing one big cover.

I don't know If I'm being a little too skeptic, but is the CSM anime really announced on this Jump Issue? Because so far we haven't seen any pic confirming it except for that super weird "CSM-TATSUKI FUJIMOTO-MAPPA" one and the big announcement was referring to part 2 of the manga

It is confirmed. アニメ stands for anime.

I literally just woke up to use the restroom, and I get bombarded by all this news.

CSM isn’t ending and is continuing in Jump+, and the anime is mappa?!

I’m legit shocked. Jump+ is getting hyper competitive with WSJ now. I’m curious why Fujimoto wants to switch back? Less censorship perhaps?

Interesting news today:

• Chainsawman anime is expected. I do hope it ends up having as little CG as possible, but I´m pessimestic on this. 3D graphics in anime have always looked out of place and inferior to the 2D alternative to me, and MAPPA´s outings on the field have been no exceptions.
• Chainsawman Part 2 on Jump+ is more of a surprise. I assume the change in magazines is due to the schedule more so than the content (since the WSJ run was pretty uninhibited). We´ll probably know more about the reasoning in an interview sometime down the line. About the idea of a sequel itself, I´m not too sold on it. The biggest part of Chainsawman for me was Denji´s development and his relationship with Makima. Now that that is dealt with, there´s not much I want to see of his character. But time will tell how this turns out. Maybe part 2 will feature a different main character, who knows at this point.
• Kochikame is back with another special chapter. It´s bec0me a yearly thing at this point. Good to have Ryotsu back.
• Usazaki is back, with a new writer and a new oneshot. This sort of confirms she doesn´t intend to take on writing duties going forward. Whether I like the one-shot or not will depend on the story. So far, I´m looking forward to it.
• Last CP for Bokuben is expected. I´m sad Agravity appears to be getting no anniversary celebration, though not surprised. Part of me wants to think that they are postponing it a bit to coincide with the vol 4 release, but I´m not so delusional as to truly believe that.
• OBOs positions have been pretty bad. I´m a defendant that ToC positions don´t really matter for survival and that sales are paramount, but U19s are the exception. OBO is a candidate to join the club in the coming months.

Yeah, it’s likely that as well too. Still though, CSM on a platform without censorship has me all kinds of excited.

Oh boy, it’s finally happening for real, a CSM anime is coming and that isn’t even the biggest surprise here.

Never would I’ve expected a part 2 announced but I’m on board for it to see what it will be about.

And a another crazy Toc too, damn Phantom Seer still in the bottom even the reprints is a huge bummer but oh well, what really matters are the following weeks
