It's always been unlikely. It's not a thing of current decade or something. Bleach/Naruto all didn't explode onto the scene.
One Piece and I think Death Note were the series before AC that blew up to such levels.

Well, at least it didn’t look dead on arrival like some of us were expecting.

That said, the next two volumes will really determine the series’ life expectancy as that’s when things get better.

It's certainly not hopeless for Phantom Seer, but I still feel like it'll need to get out the bottom first. Sales might be slightly above Roboco/Magu/Dolphin but I don't think that's higher enough to save it over those if it continues to hang around the bottom 3 each issue.

Especially now that there'll be no long runners ending to save the bottom dwellers, unless everything new does worse or they run very few new series, we're probably going to see some of the 10k v1 club end in 2021.

Shoseki estimations for the newbies´second week :

Ayakashi Traingle Vol 2: 22,616 (55,504 total)
Undead Unluck Vol 3: 14,767 (43,029 total)
Phantom Seer Vol 1: 5,866 (14541 total)


As has been mentioned, this is a good performance for Phantom Seer. It´s the third best second week for newbies this year, just above UnUn (12,460 in 10 days) and Yozakura (13,960 in 13 days). Keep in mind these are estimations so the ranking shouldn´t be taken too seriously when values are this close together, but this is a good performance nonetheless. I wouldn´t worry about ToC placements for a while. They should go up soon.

Undead keeps on growing. It´s notably above Mashle´s latest volume (37,837 in 10 days), and around 10k above volume 3.

Meanwhile, Ayakashi shows no signs of growth (volume 1 was 55,001 on Oricon). Does anyone have RxL data for the first few volumes? That might be a good comparison point.
