By the way, forgot to comment on this. At the Jump New Heroes Stage, all editors appeared cosplaying characters from their series, and we finally got to see who Ayakashi Triangle's editor is.

I don't have a full picture of his name, but it should be 今村, Imamura, one of the guys from Murakoshi's team.

No wonder PS reminds me so much of early Bleach.

- Portgas D. Ace by Boichi (Dr. Stone).
- Don Krieg by Kōhei Horikoshi (My Hero Academia).
- Boa Hancock by Taishi Tsutsui (We Never Learn).
- Gaimon by Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro (Toriko, Build King).
- Tony Tony Chopper by Hitsuji Gondaira (Mission of Yakuza Family).
- Bellamy by Hajime Komoto (MASHLE).
- Tashigi by Ryūhei Tamura (Hard-Boiled Cop and Dolphin).
- Gecko Moria by Atsushi Nakamura (Agravity Boys).
- Shinobu by Ryou Nakama (High School Family: Kokosei Kazoku).
- Arlong by Gege Akutami (Jujutsu Kaisen).
- Shirahoshi by Yuki Tabata (Black Clover).
- Smoker by Yoshifumi Tozuka (Undead Unluck).
- Sugar by Kentaro Yabuki (Ayakashi Triangle).
- Lapin by Kei Kamiki (God of Destruction Magu-Chan).
- Kid by Kento Matsuura (Phantom Seer).
- Sanji by Shūhei Miyazaki (Me and Roboko).
- Robin by Kazu Kakazu (Our Blood Oath).
- Ben Beckman by Yuto Suzuki (Sakamoto Days).
- Heracles by Tomohiro Hasegawa (Shinrin Ouji Mori King).

Did the mangakas chose the OP characters for themselves or did Oda give them a character to draw for their series? Because some choices feel pretty interesting, I especially love the Roboco x Sanji part with Sanji screaming at the blasphemy of food put before him. xD

I like how much effort the Editors put into their costumes. Thank god, the UU editor put on a muscle shirt and did not go buck naked to work, that would have been bad PR for Jump. ^^;

I had this feeling from the previous chapters, but when I read Sakamoto Days I find many elements from Gintama.
A protagonist whose previous life was based on fighting, his sidekick from whose perspective the story is told and now
a Chinese woman as comrade.

Less nonsense comedy and more action with a more realistic setting.

Yeah, that’s what I kinda like about it. Gintama’s jokes can be really hard to catch on, because back then Japanese pop culture was less known than it is now. So getting foreign fans to jump on it can be difficult with all the “Japanese” gags.

Time to rate Jump:
-I'll be direct. We Never Learn end has been bad. Probably the worst Shonen Jump 2020 end for me.
-Jujutsu Kaisen and MHA ending long arc at the same time, and both of them doing it in a very amazing note.
-Amazing Magu-chan chapter. I've also liked a lot Yozakura, Build King, Ayakashi and Sakamoto this week.

Jujutsu Kaisen
My Hero Academia
Magu-chan
One Piece
Black Clover
Mission of Yozakura Family
Build King
Ayakashi Triangle
Sakamoto Days
Mashle
Undead Unluck
Shark and Dolphin
Honomieru Shonen
Dr.Stone
Me and Roboco
Moriking
We Never Learn
Highschool Family
Agravity Boys
Our Blood Oath

Bokuben's ending chapter recontextualized the last 8 months of publication as a drawn-out version of Yuuna´s ending. I much preferred the latter, at least it was up-front about what it was doing.

On the other hand, both Agravity Boys and Moriking had series-ending developments. I guess they could be jokes/ keep going anyway, but my money is on a new raound starting in issue #7.

Yozakura was fine, didn't like the first half very much but the second half was more interesting

Agravity was alright, didn't expect another week of penis jokes but it was funny enough and the ending made me laugh

Undead was great, fun action and I'm starting to like Victor more

Mashle was pretty good, gags were solid and I look forward to the fight next week

Moriking had a bland final battle, hopefully it's wrapping up in just a few more chapters

Ayakashi was pretty good, cute chapter

Magu was also pretty good, heartwarming stuff

Dolphin feels like it's finally doing something after a few chapters of feeling like nothing was happening, hopefully it goes somewhere

Roboco was incredible, loved all the gags

Phantom was solid as usual, nothing to really say

HSF was decent, had some good gags

Blood Oath continues to be blood oath and throws characters at the wall

Build King was really good, interesting world building as usual

Sakamoto days was good, still haven't enjoyed a chapter as much as the first one but this was still entertaining

OP and JJK were great this week. I'm really not sure how I feel about WNL, now that it's over. On one hand, the route split reinvigorated my interest in the series to see each ending, and it's a pretty interesting idea in concept. However it does devalue any single character's ending and in execution only 2-3 I actually liked. Regardless, this last chapter felt completely unnecessary and made the routes feel even less impactful than they already were. Now that the dust has settled, Ashumi>>Uruka>Mafuyu>>Fumino>>Rizu.

When I first read WNL’s final chapter, I was like “Are you serious?” I thought more people would be mad about that, but I guess the multiple routes allows for one to simply pretend that their route is the canon route.

And this ends an era. Quints was better, IMO. But WNL wasn’t that bad, on the whole.

weekly ranks + thoughts

JJK - Closing out the arc with a masterpiece chapter, Akutami doesn't miss
Magu-chan - Best chapter of the series yet.
Undead - Insane fun.
Roboco - Made me laugh a few times, which is more than I thought I'd be saying about a Roboco chapter a couple months back.
Mashle - Nice to see some of the older characters again, new guy seems... interesting.
Clover
Yozakura
Phantom
Dr. Stone
MHA
- Not a huge fan of the development here, but a decent finish to a mostly good arc.
Build King
Dolphin
Agravity
Sakamoto
Mori
- this is ending next chapter right? would fill out volume 4
Ayakashi
Blood Oath
- let it die
Highschool Fam - let it die

1: One Piece
2: Hakaishin Magu-chan
3: Jujutsu Kaisen
4: Honomieru Shounen
5: Agravity Boys
6: Sakamoto Days
7: Boku no Hero Academia
8: Undead Unluck
9: Mashle
10: Shakunetsu no Niraikanai
11: Ayakashi Triangle
12: Yozakura-san Chi no Daisakusen
13: Black Clover
14: Dr. Stone
15: Boku to Roboco
16: Build King
17: Koukousei Kazoku
18: Bokutachi wa Benkyou ga Dekinai
19: Shinrin Ouja Moriking
20: Bokura no Ketsumei

Magu-chan saved the Christmas. Cute chapter as always. Both Jujutsu Kaisen and Boku no Hero Academia are ready to wrap up their (probably) best arcs. When I read it, I was thinking We Never Learn's final chapter was going to be the worst of the week, but even then Moriking was dull as always and Our Blood Oath still manages to get worse every week.

This week's top 5:
1. Magu-chan: God of Destruction - Amazing chapter. I even teared up a little at the end. Ruru is such a sweet kid, and Magu-chan is such a good character. Honestly, his medium-sized form was pretty cool as well, and the spread of his power looked awesome.
2. Mission: Yozakura Family - Yozakura keeps up its winning streak with another strong chapter. Seeing Taiyo and Mutsumi's conversation at the end was very touching, and the grandparents are pretty nice characters. I'm loving this whole family dynamic and assembly of characters.
3. Undead Unluck - Getting to learn a bit more about Andy's other half through the flashback was the most interesting part. I'm really curious now as to what will happen next.
4. High School Family: Kokosei Kazoku - Pretty funny chapter, especially once the mom came in. The cast is starting to come together, and I'm enjoying it a bit more each week. Maybe the slow-burn approach the author seems to be taking might actually pay off.
5. Me & Roboco - Although I know nothing about The Promised Neverland, this chapter is ranking this high solely because of how it depicted Gorilla during tag. Another silly side to that character.

The best of the rest:
6. Sakamoto Days - Pretty good chapter. The fight scene was resolved pretty quickly, and I'm curious what'll happen text now that the cast is growing.
7. Ayakashi Triangle - Another decent chapter. A pretty funny development with Shirogane, and I wonder how this'll impact the friends' future involvement in the supernatural.
8. Mashle - Another alright chapter. The introductions to Mash's family were pretty funny, but the other parts of the chapter felt a little off to me. The new character introduction felt a bit rushed, as did the ending development.
9. We Never Learn - Sad that this series had such a lackluster ending. By making all the routes canon, the author basically copped out and didn't choose a girl in the end, which is a pretty lackluster open-ended finale. At least Uruka and Senpai's arcs were worth reading, but the Sensei, Fumino and Rizu routes were all disappointments. Final ranking: Uruka > Senpai > Sensei > Fumino > Rizu
10. Moriking - Not that bad of a chapter, but it screams of wrapping things up. Next chapter very well could be the last, but since this is the author of Spring Weapon, I'll have to wait until I actually see the official confirmation.
11. Hard-Boiled Cop and Dolphin - Another dull as dirt chapter. Will make the decision of whether I'll drop this in a couple more chapters. I don't want another Agravity situations on my hands where I feel like I've invested too much time and keep thinking it'll be axed soon.
12. Build King - Still boring. Haven't found anything that's caught my interest yet.
13. Agravity Boys - Awful chapter, awful pacing, awful developments, please put this series out of its (and my) misery.

Moriking now feels like it's ending next issue for certain, maybe 2 at most. Agravity Boys is doing some weird things which could be leading to a gag ending, but it's still impossible to tell.

Blood Oath however feels like it's starting a new arc with a bunch of new characters introduced so I don't think it has much chance of being the next U19. I think they'll at least keep it until they see the first volume's sales.

I'm not sure what the problem with the final chapter of WNL is supposed to be. It's a cute wrapping up chapter that shows many of the characters while basically telling the reader that all of the routes are possible, which means, as it was before, the canon one is the one you like the most. I liked it.

I mean, what did you expect? Did you think after all the routes were done, Tsutsui would declare one to be the canon route in the final chapter?
