Jujutsu is bigger than Hero.....
And Black Clover is overshadowed by Stone and Chainsaw Man
Popular outside Japan doesn't translate to popular in Japan. JJK will soon overtake MHA, and Black Clover was never a massive Jump series. Remember that Gon was in front of Ichigo in the Jstars cover and Yuyu Hakusho got more playables. Outside of WSJ, but Kingdom is none-existant outside of Japan.
Frankly, I don't get the point of some users constantly whining about series having less appeal in different countries, companies will always look for profit.

Limited space.

If you're the publisher you'll offer that space to the bigger series or ones that show growth. From current WSJ lineup (not including One Piece), the order of biggest to smallest would be JJK=MHA>CSM>Dr. Stone>BC.

- JJK gets preference because by all accounts its boost is the biggest we've seen in years (Kimetsu aside). It'll beat MHA soon in volume to volume sales. Meaning it'll be bigger than MHA with half of S1 anime's boost whereas MHA reached where it did right now with boosts from three seasons.
- MHA gets next preference because its MHA and still a "pillar" for WSJ. Plus anime returning soon.
- CSM follows because it's growth is bigger than JJK (pre-anime) and a sequel manga is coming. Anime was also just announced.
- Dr. Stone then because it's growing in sales still and therefore a valuable franchise
- BC goes after all that because it's declining in sales (slowly) and therefore a less valuable franchise than all of the above at the moment.

If TPN, HQ, Act Age still existed, all of them would also probably be promoted above BC because they were bigger and/or growing franchises.

WSJ/Shueisha's decision here is completely logical and expected.

Since people were talking about Horikoshi's comments on MHA's ending earlier, I'm curious what order (and if you were to predict what year) do you reckon the five veteran series will end? I think we're pretty safe for 2021 and say:
  1. Dr. Stone (2022) - I wouldn't be surprised if it entered its final arc at some point this year. It feels like a lot of progress towards the potential endgame has been made in the last few months.
  2. My Hero Academia (2023) - My prediction would be about 40 volumes, so give or take 90 more chapters which I think should be enough for one or two smaller arcs before entering the final arc of the series.
  3. Black Clover (2023-2024) - I'm on the fence whether this could make it to a 10 year anniversary or not; if the magazine starts producing more hits in the next couple years and it gets relegated to the back of the magazine I think it'll end sooner than later, however if still in a position of safety by then it just reach that point. My gut feeling however is it'll end shortly after MHA.
  4. Jujutsu Kaisen (2024) - I don't see this having as many chapters as MHA or BC, perhaps around ~300, maybe even sooner.
  5. One Piece (2027) - While I think there might be give or take five years worth of chapters to come out, with the amount of breaks Oda takes I don't see that estimation going as planned, but I also don't think it'll last for another decade.

I don't read Dr. Stone so I can't comment on it.
1.My Hero Academia - (2024) I predict the manga to have 45-50 Volumes and that we are about 2/3 into the manga. I do think though that it would end at the beginning of the year.
2.Black Clover - (2023) - I expect the manga to be ending in the range of 350-420 chapters. We know it's world and the threats that exist there and we are probably 2-3 arcs before the wrap up. Each arc though should be quite the chunk of chapters, if the current will end at ~300, we will have 2 more arcs tops of 50-75 chapters about Demon world and Asta's origin.
3.Jujutsu Kaisen - (2023) - I think that with this arc we've reached the halfway point and that the manga will end at the 250-300 range
4.One Piece - ending just like you've said, in 5 years worth of content without the breaks while celebrating it's 30th anniversary with it's final chapter and a full color chapter + cover

Writing it really makes me want to start reading Mashle and Undead and see them grow to future successes of Jump. we are at the door of the 2020's and I'm hoping for a great decade both for newcomers and for returning veterans. 2021-2022 will be very interesting here.

WSJ lost 6 tanks this year ouch the magazine truly feels empty again.
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---

Jujutsu is bigger than Hero.....
And Black Clover is in the same league as mori king now lool

I have a gut feeling BC will end at the 400 chapter ish mark as well I think its time I come to terms with the fact that Tabata's story will never be fully realised. We will never see black clovers full glory. I hope he can find away to give us as much of his ideas as possible within the next 200 chapters.

What a shame. Fk Japan :(

I don't read BC or JJK but for the others, I believe your estimates are reasonable.

I would say Dr. Stone could last for about 100 more chapters. I expect the final arc to be the longest in the series though.

For MHA, I am not sure... if the final arc is going to be how one could expect from the latest chapters, I would say about 150 chapters so around 2024.

In One Piece, there is still a lot we have yet to explore from what Oda hinted during these years. Considering the breaks, I would say 2027 as well. I would say there are at least three major arcs left (maybe four if Oda really wants to explain every detail).

1. My Hero Academia - 130 chapters or so: A short arc,, another seasons worth and then the final battle

2. Jujutsu Kaisen - 150 chapters or so: idk how much but I think we're almost halfway done

3. Dr. Stone - 150 chapters or so: 3.5 more medium sized arcs, then final arc

4. Black Clover - 160 chapters or so: 2 more sagas I see happening

5. One Piece - 170 chapters or so: final arc after this arc which will be the largest arc in One Piece

Regarding the series’ future, I only follow OP, MHA, and I’m catching up with JJK. So I’d say the first one can definitely end around 2027 like others said, MHA definitely could have between 3 or 4 more years, and JJK def seems to be midway through. So yeah, guess I agree with what’s been said lol

Regarding this week’s issue, sad to not have CSM for the first time, Mashle was so comfy this week with the characters’ interactions and more set up.

Yozakura was fun this week, Cop and Dolphin was also nice, with more plot related stuff, just hope this isn’t Tamura rushing to the finale, Ayakashi was also very funny, Lu is a quality supporting character, Magu-Chan was wholesome as always, no complains here.

Phantom Seer manages to keep things interesting, guess it helps that the series isn’t in any near danger (ToC places aside), Sakamoto Days is also fun, but I do wonder what the exact endgame in the long run will be, but wondering about that keeps things interesting. WNL ends, definitely could of had a better ending, I wouldn’t minded if Uruka was the winner and ended there, even if she wasn’t my favorite. Looking forward to what new romcom Jump comes up with, most likely Ao no Hako

I’m definitely putting my money on MHA ending in #450-500-mark. The current Act just ended, and that lasted 200 chapters. So, MHA ending somewhere between another 150-200 (might be just a little over 200) sounds right to me.

Dr. Stone I'm in agreement on, predicted it to announce final arc this year back in the old thread
MHA - I think it'll probably end up around 45 volumes, so maybe 2024.
BC - Either it starts declining more and more, and it leaves with Stone in 2022, or it coasts until like 2026/7. Can't decide which is more likely.
JJK - Somewhere around 30 volumes I think, so probably 2023ish
OP - Not up to date on this, but I'll say 2026 as a guess.

Signature updated! Chainsaw Man and We Never Learn removed, nothing added but Yozakura Family and Agravity Boys entered the first line since they're now the 6th and 7th oldest series being published

And as curiosity and bit of context of how wild was this year, WSJ line up in the first issue published on 2020 (#6/7, January 4) VS the first issue that will be published in 2021 (#5/6, January 4):

For what seems likely to be a single issue, Moriking holds the balance between the "old" series and the "new" series. The king has served his purpose and brought harmony to the magazine's lineup lol

Moriking as the 10th oldest ongoing series just doesn't feel right. Granted it's probably just for an issue or two but still. Ayakashi Triange will be even shorter when it takes over as #10, but it's by a very successful veteran and already a hit so it feels more fitting there somehow.
