You find it fun... but I find it is just a trend. People are not reading something because they enjoy it, but just because "its famous". But anyway who cares, they are free to buy what they want, but its innegable that selling doesn't tell much on the quality of the seriesOf the things to catch up on: I prefer old WSJ and am actually quite looking forward to the next few competitive rounds of serialisations where the slew of middling 2020 series will have to prove themselves against each other and only the best will make it to the end of the year - there's too many series that need to be cut that in most other years would have been cancelled already. It's fine to have a fair few series with growth that don't do anything special from the beginning, but we definitely need a few more hits in the next year or so. It's been a great year to be a newcomer in the magazine but that's likely to change in 2021.
Another thing: Complaining about veteran series taking up the space in the Oricon rather than celebrating the success they're all having and bringing to the magazine just seems like a not-so-roundabout way of complaining about your own favourite not getting that same treatment. If another series you wish was doing that good in its place and dominating, would you be of the same opinion? Always baffled me to see people complain about the success of a series currently in its peak just because it's taking the spotlight away from others. Your favourite just needs to perform better, simple as that. And even if it doesn't that fine because sales doesn't necessarily mean quality.
Also, with regards to Demon Slayer in particular - watching it break records and continue outperforming in everything it does is fun. It's a cultural phenomenon and we're watching that unfold in realtime, so make the most of the moment and all the many positives its providing in an otherwise shitty year.
I can see Furudate and Gotouge returning with hits if they so choose - they both have dedicated fanbases who will be awaiting what they come out with next (if anything at all). Kaui and Posuka Demizu I also see doing well, and Usazaki I hope she does; both are already active with oneshots so they'll be back to give at another go at least. Fujimoto is only going to get more popular with the anime and Part 2 coming, not concerned about his career at all. The only two I'm not so confident about are Mirua and Tsutsui, mainly because neither of their series felt that big in comparison to there rest of the magazine.
