We are following now the TV Asahi top-100 manga special. 150,000 votes in total.

They started by revealing the winner which surprisinly hasn't been Kimetsu no Yaiba. One Piece gets the 1st place with 33600 votes.

The voting poll ended in October, before Jujutsu Kaisen anime starting, so don't expect Jujutsu in a high rank here. If it appears, it will be probably over ranks 81-100 (it is a pity though. I can see JJK ending in top-30 if the poll would have been with JJK anime airing).

I'll be updating the post with more Shonen Jump manga appearing in that rank. I'm posting the entire top-10. In Black Jump titles. In Italic no Jump titles. From 11 to 100 I'll only post the Jump titles in normal.

1. One Piece - 33600 votes
2. Kimetsu no Yaiba - 29100 votes

Wow, Kimetsu didn’t take first at something. It instead lost to One Piece. Great, now the fans on Twitter are gonna act all smug about it.

Where can we see the full listing?

They are still over rank 20th. The WSJ_manga account is uploading the full listing too.

For the moment is being a very big Jump parade. Very surprised of World Trigger so high. Haikyuu, My Hero Academia and Jujutsu also very high. I'm also surprised Bleach still hasn't appeared.

Sket Dance still made it after so many years. I'm so proud of my Kaimei people.
World Trigger above MHA and Death Note not making it to the list are surprises.

Bleach really ranked very low, you'd think it would be in the top 10.

Rank is complete. I'm really really really surprised Death Note and Saint Seiya didn't made it. But well, almost everything important in Jump made it, and then some surprises like Captain or Hoshin Engi.

Shonen Jump has included 33 manga in the top-100.

Shonen Jump has included 33 manga in the top-100.
Dragon Quest probably got ranked that high even though it's a 90s manga due to its remake announcement, I guess.

Hoshin Engi and Hikaru no Go are two excellent manga, which I recommend anyone check out if you haven't, definitely in my forever top 10 (Especially Hikaru no Go, even though I love Hoshin Engi), though I will abmit nostalgia most definitely plays a mayor role on Hoshin Engi being one of my favorites since it was one of the first manga I ever read.

But I guess the manga I'm most surprised about are Sket Dance ranking, like iirc it sold decently well, but I would imagine that something that sold in the same level like Toriko or Shokugeki no Soma (which i think both sold a little better and were more recent? Heck, Shokugeki had a recent season), even titles like Black Clover sold better and are more recent, but I guess people who read Sket Dance loved it enough for them to actually vote for them (If you read Black Clover, it probably means you are also in a demography reading current WSJ titles, and you might just like MHA more than BC, or Chainsawman or whatever, that's probably what happened with lots of titles that were absent.)

BTW I mention sales as a factor because it's pretty clear that you had to be a best selling manga to get enough votes in this, even old manga that were super influential got mentioned so that's great.

Outside Jump Black Jack is a surprise, we don't know its exact circulation numbers but... It's just impressive it still got so many votes. Also Master Keaton, I have not read it, maybe I should... I just thought if an Urasawa manga would get picked it probably would have been a more recent one like Monster or 20th Century Boys.

Shaman King, Sailor Moon, Death Note and Dr. Slump being absent are my greatest surprises too.

Death Note specifically, like it was such a hit, it managed to sell like 2 million per volume iirc... It's one of the biggest sellers, along with Dr.Slump, not to reach the list.

As for SK It's weird considering the SK remake should have put it into people's minds again, I think.

And last, I'm surprised that KnY didn't take the first spot, I am happy it didn't, I just would have been happy with DB, SD, OP... Anything other than KnY dominating yet another list lol.

Surprised you didn't mention Saint Seiya. For me it has been really odd that Saint Seiya didn't make it.

Bleach really ranked very low, you'd think it would be in the top 10.
Not so surprising for me. I expected Bleach in places 11-20 but not in the top-10. I don't feel Japan giving Bleach the same legacy vibes as Naruto or OP.

The biggest surprise for me, Jump-wise, was World Trigger on 14th. I really expected like over 30 Jump manga to be over it in the ranks.

Only 150k votes to be fair, but a few things are relatively surprising like HxH not in top ten and D. Gray-man making the list, but it's mostly what you'd expect.

Also, today is going to be potentially a fun day in Japan. The first JJK volume after anime boom has been released.

It’s... honestly kind of really sad seeing Black Clover with as much space as the newbies and We Never Learn. It still sells more than all of them, though I guess Shueisha’s taking notice of the declining manga sales.

Jujutsu Kaisen vs HeroAca will be a fun matchup. Can the former outperform the latter this time?

How much will the ending boost Chainsaw Man, I wonder?
