Day 5 end
The day grows older as does the legacy and lifespans as some of our proudest artists. Soon the day will pass, as will the careers of some of our employees. Sales will drop, as will popularity and sheer name recognition. The cool kid show will now be about soft bois in wacky full-body suits. Unfortunately, as not all of us adapted to this new day and age, we had to let go of our most esteemed employees.
Akira Toriyama
Paranoid Gun Owner
Game End
OMO, young mangaka! It's been a week now since you were hired here. Has it been to your liking? Looking past the mass-firing, blatant sexism and obvious exploitation, a pretty good experience, right? The noodles all day, every day. The obviously disregard for the pandemic. 36 hours workday. Good times. Hm? What was that? Oh sure. 36 hours a day is tough for everyone, I know. But only at first. After the first 30, you're like, 'man, where will I find the remaining 6?'. Everyone is. After a while, you find out it's subtracted from the back-end of your lifespan. But that's a worry for another day.
Hey, the other day I asked you if you could find me the money-makers among the pencil pushers. Did you do that for me? Let's see...
Winners of Game 89
Gajeel
Mafia Assassin
OH yeah, when I saw this one, I knew it was a winner. No face, just hands. All a pencil monkey needs. I hear this artist sniped down their editor with a pencil after they made some revisions to their chapter. Serious business.
GrySun
Detective/
Prostitute [
Traitor]
Very interesting choice! He does the 'Huh HAA omae wa mo yare yare daze yaro!'. This sounds like a winner. Kids these days, all they care for is the spectacle, you know. You throw in some wacko reference, say you ripped it from Jojo and people eat out of your hand. This guy even named his Chinese cartoon 'Jojo's bizarre adventure'. We're going to make so much money off this guy!
A Message from Corporate
The other day, Corpo HQ figured out how to make a machine draw mango. It's quite nifty, the machine scans the page and then gives suggestions of characters and panels that fit that art style. I'm thinking that all we need to do is have the winning super monkeys draw a bunch of cool mangoes, and then we give it to the machine who will make more of it. And since we employ fewer people, there are fewer labour laws we can violate! Genius!
It is incredibly unfortunate we had the displeasure of letting go so many talented female mangaka. Despite the fact our workflow is geared completely and unreservedly at equality (after making money), we could not beat sexism with democracy this time. In the future, OMO weekly will leave no leaf unturned and do everything in it's power to make more money. And while we make money, make it less obvious which minority groups are on the losing side of the company power dynamic.
Congratulations to the winners! You've made us incredible amounts of money. Since we had to fire everyone else, to compensate, we expect you guys to work a little more. How do 72 hours a day sound? Only 8 days a week, down from 7 days. A steal! Who wouldn't want to work for their favourite company in the world?
