Jump+ is not some sort of second tier garbage dump to where the unpopular WSJ series get shafted to maybe have a shot at living – but it feels like some people don't see it as more than that.

- Each new Spy x Family volume is outselling every new volume from currently running Jump series not named One Piece or Jujutsu Kaisen.
- Kaiju No. 8 has probably broken records with Volume 1 and it loks to be growing at a rate even faster than Spy x Family.
- Chainsaw Man, a manga that's also growing more and more and inching towards HeroAca's level without an anime - is going to have it's second part serialized on Jump+.

Seriously. Jump+ isn't a second-rate dump. Hell, I'd argue, it's doing better than the main magazine at the moment. Within the past three years, it went froma site whose main draw was a futuristic harem manga that didn't sell much compared to Jump's pillars to... having pillars of it's own, one of which it came from Jump itself.

thats why it doesn't make sense to send a bottom ranking WSJ series to Jump Plus to give it a second chance (and probably why its only happened so rarely). It will just be ignored as made for Jump+ series continue to succeed with the fanbases they've built up.

don't really know if that supports any argument, if its that big why is it being shafted to jump+ and not serialized in WSJ like BORUTO was???

perhaps it will be on some irregular schedule, have content too epic for the magazine, or just be a short continuation.

Fujimoto stated why; it's because the rampant spoiler culture perpetuated by leakers became something which weighed on him.

Did he really say that. All I remember was that Shihei Lin, his editor, asked for people to stop sharing leaks before the chapter comes out

Personally I think I'd prefer Jump+ anyway based on the looser schedule, flexible page limit (even if you do weekly sometimes the chapter might only need 14 pages while other times it might need 30), getting to decide when you have colour chapters (and where in the chapter they're placed as we've seen a couple times in Kaiju), etc. Might not make a difference for most but Fujimoto has been published in both and would know the benefits of each and might just prefer Jump+'s.

It's mentioned in the notes in Volume 11.

Not directly mentioned, but the inference is clear.

note: this come from Nikkei Entertainment issue
2021.4

i don’t know where you get this picture but he explicitly said there are no spoiler problem a sentence before. Lol

Another merit on Jump+ is less restriction on page count, on Jump it’s 19 pages period (as per Fujimoto says) but Jump+ can be around 15~25 pages

To be fair to Rain, none of us actually knew where that came from initially, so we all just assumed it came from some official source.

There’s conflicting translations, from what I’ve seen. Two separate translators are saying one thing, and two others are saying another. So I’m not exactly sure who to believe. Either way, CSM part 2 definitely isn’t moving to Jump+ out of necessity. It’s one of the best selling series in WSJ right now, and it could very well end up surpassing MHA.

Fujimoto left because he wanted to. And Jump+ definitely isn’t a downgrade from WSJ. In fact, it’s quickly becoming *the* place to publish manga.

I agree with this. He can actually ramp up gore & violence etc AND the schedule can be more to his liking as well with no strict dates since no magazine. It honestly gives more freedom to him to express what he wants in chainsaw man. And we have seen that sales aren’t going to be a problem... (Kaiju 8 & Spy Family)

It’s not my intention to put a shame or anything, I just want to put the note on so someone in the future will know the source of the interview.

I mean I honestly don't see it as a second tier garbage dump. Phantom Seer seems to be at least a little bit popular with people that don't read it weekly in Jump, otherwise it wouldn't grow in sales so much. This is more of a case of the series only being unpopular for Jump readers, but it has the potential to become popular among the people buying the volumes. So if it is just unpopular in Jump, moving it to a platform that it might benefit more from, could increase its growth in sales.

It's a series that doesn't do well in Jump, but still has a lot of potential growth in volume sales. So I honestly doubt they'd want to cancel a series that has the potential to grow a lot in sales, but they probably don't want it to occupy a slot in Jump either because it seems to do bad in reader polls. So I thought Jump+ is the perfect platform for it, because it has a different audience that might be more interested in reading Phantom Seer weekly. And even if the amount of people reading it there weekly is as low as in Jump, it won't affect Shueisha in negative way, because there aren't limited amount of slots in Jump+. Plus, they can still benefit from a potential growth in volume sales.

Fantastic growth for Mashle as has become expected. A much smaller but still good growth for Yozakura. How do these Undead and Ayakashi numbers compare the the previous volumes?

Neither of their volume managed to rank last December.
Ayakashi 2 was estimated at 32,888 in 3 days. (Volume 1 did 33,114 in 3 days in Oricon)
UU 4 was estimated at 28,262 in 3 days. (Volume 3 did 17,934 in 3 days in Oricon)
