Ame no Furu plot (is an action comedy):

What will Tsumugi do in a Tokyo destroyed by candy!?

Preview page is full of lollipops
Sounds fun, but if it has a goofy artstyle or cartoony gaggy looking characters then pass.

Would be awesome if it were kind serious and dark comedy

Actually I want it in that direction, not yozakura type of phasing but really a great mix of heavy action and adultish comedy humour

Didnt girl in oneshort had blonde hair?
The designs are largely unchanged except both characters now have brown eyes. The girl always had brown hair, but the author doesn't shade it with screen-tones so it might look blonde until you see the color pages.

Which route do we think the series will/should take?
  • Focus on the main duo for the entire series, becoming couple early on (like the one shot)?
  • Focus on the main duo for the entire series, becoming couple later on/near the end with other lover interests as well?
  • Focus on multiple pairings across the school/sports?
I'd be most keen on seeing multiple couples (like Tsuredure Children) with a couple volumes dedicated to each, and then throughout each one we can get crossover of the characters/pairings across the school. But if it is about the same couple for the entire time I hope it can avoid cliche love triangles and filler romcom chapters to pad out the real progression.
I think the ideal route would be similar to Tsuredure Children, but rather than crossover chapters, the manga should limit itself to ~5 couples and alternate between their arcs. The original couple could have an arc featuring the girl going back to the retirement match she lost a year prior, or the boy studying to get into a prep college while trying to keep up with badminton, for example. By alternating between different couples, Blue Box can tell ~5 really tight 40 chapter romance stories in 200 chapters.

If it's done this way, the story could even have some characters graduate and switch between high school and college romances, which I think would be really interesting.

I prefer to just wait and see what the author will do, projecting your own wishes too much of what the author should do is just asking for a potential disappointment in the end, also expecting too much that the series will be some revolutionary stuff compared to the las romcom series, but from the few leak pages i saw, it looks really good, at least the art.

a question for Shimabukuro fans, do you still want him back in the magazine? why? do you think he should change anything if he wants a return?
Late to answering this but sure I guess? He could go for another chance. I don't see his career being over despite how awful BK was & btw Nakano made the right move on not pushing the series (ignoring that popularity comment lol). Maybe one of the reasons Nakano decided not to push BK was because of Shimabu's comment of finding BK very challenging to create, which already sounded like a major red flag. Anyway, either Shimabu comes back to WSJ or goes to Grand Jump. He did Ring & finished off Takeshi in Super Jump and did a few one shots in Grand Jump so it wouldn't surprise me if he goes to Grand Jump.

As for changing/improving, I think he shouldn't shy away from attempting character writing and shorter serialization. His character writing can be pretty decent and underappreciated in some ways imo. I'd like to see him change how he does his coloring for the characters attire as he struggled for ages in that aspect. Perhaps Shimabu teaming up with an artist isn't a bad idea and looks more likely than Shimabu changing his ways tbh. I'm confident that someone like Matsuura or Hirano would team up with him in a heartbeat if they were given the opportunity but the real question is will Shimabu do it? That may require convincing from the editors or better yet Nakano himself.

It is by Shimabukuro after all, he was a big name in the past. There'll be enough people going in and picking it up because they liked Toriko to keep it above the level of total flops.

The real news is Cop and Dolphin performing worse than it.

Link works for me.

That looks like it'll be amazing or an absolute trainwreck (or both, I guess).
