Ball Parade: This got good again, and not particularly rushed, either. I’m still not sure which one is going to end next week.
Candy Flurry: That was wild! I wasn’t sure what to think about it at first, but towards the end the humour started growing on me. I suspect it won’t work for everyone, but it gives the series its own personality, at least.
BB: Everyone is so sane in this manga. Well, except for the part where he whines about her changing in front of him and then does the same without thinking, but hey, I get it. He’s growing as a person and that’s nice to see.
WW: That was one of the best chapters yet (would’ve made for a fantastic one-shot, too). I like how her magic can’t solve everything, but you can combine it with other methods to make it work.
Mashle: Applying more pressure doesn’t actually make people pass out faster, there’s about ten seconds of oxygen in the brain itself. Which means Mash should be super dead. I know it’s a fantasy and all, but it’s a little annoying when the supposedly magicless character is pulling new supernatural abilities out of his hat every fight. (Plus there’s no reason for it; he could’ve just knocked him out instead. But I guess the joke was more important.)
AT: Plot! And a good one, even. The fanservice also bothered me less, I’m much more comfortable with Suzu just sitting in the bad then with all the creeper stuff.
TES: Now we’re moving! Good strategy there, girl. You should keep that pole, it seems pretty useful. (One small continuity error: he gets a dart in his left shoulder and then holds his right one.)
I tell c: Have I mentioned I can’t stand Sakon? But the new guy is kinda fun. I spent the whole time wondering if he is doing this willingly or if he’s being used by someone. Quite the interesting set-up.
Sakamoto: Good strategy and teamwork here also. I really like these two together. (But you should’ve taken that suit with you, dumbasses.)
UU: Whoa. I was not expecting that, but it’s good to split them up for a bit, since things were getting pretty one-sided.
Dr Stone: What a rollercoaster. Beautiful way of putting lots of information in one chapter without it feeling cramped. Also, I love that map of Europe that shows their route to Barcelona. Must’ve been a real challenge to draw it from that angle. And the earthrise at the end was cool, too.
C&D: (at page 5) Soo… Shark is a
dolphin now?
(page 13) Yes?
(page 16) No? Well, nice job of throwing hints around to keep people guessing. I liked this chapter, but the ending was a little abrupt – I would’ve liked just a couple more pages to ease us into it. Otherwise the guy can really write, I hope he comes back soon with something that’s a little more focused from the start.
Yozakura: It went on a little long, but it did make me laugh and the ending was cute.
17. Candy Flurry: Too much mood whiplash from last chapter, although I see that many liked it. Anyway it is from the beginning of the series that I have this question: why should lollipops be considered a powerful weapon? If you get hit by one, the most they can do is giving you a bruise, right?
The same reason why
anything is considered a powerful weapon when it's seven stories tall.
There's an entire movie genre about this.
Because "Attack of the Six-and-a-Half-Foot Whatever" isn't as terrifying... This is like Incredible Shrinking Man, except that the ray gun that zapped the character was set on "Grow" instead of "Shrink". Now the protagonists have a huge problem …
