Dont know about protection/bias but is indeed a lot of stuff out of nowhere announced for the 1st anniversary, maybe is just very popular with the magazine readers.
True, one of those anime flash.

if it were as popular as sales would be better. but a year has passed and the manga and sales have not improved.

I'm surprised Roboco still hasn't done a Kimetsu homage cover. I feel like that would be a smart way to boost its sales considering Japan eats up everything with KnY on it nowadays :D

I wonder if Roboco's also going to get a bunch of 1st anniversary promotional stuff in a couple weeks, or if it this issue's terrible placement is an indication of a sudden drop in popularity

How come WSJ isn't publishing any of their series on J+ weekly like WYJ does with Oshi no Ko or Kubo San? I can't imagine how popular Elusive Samurai and Blue Box would be if people had access to it for free online like OnK or Kubo San

I’m sure Roboco will still get its own campaign, Magu was placed bottom 4 last issue and look at everything it’s getting now. To be frank all of this stuff for Magu should’ve been out the door as soon as volume 1 numbers came in and it wasn’t a complete flop, would have served as incentives to keep people paying attention and maybe the numbers wouldn’t have started to dwindle as much as they did. Roboco is evidence of this, it didn’t grow by much but notice how it got a big promotional push and increased audience interaction between volumes 1 and 2 and sustained itself as a result whereas Magu got very little outside of color pages until now and sales stagnated and later decreased by roughly 2-3k since v1. The first anniversary campaign is basically the equivalent of using a defibrillator, but I think this means it’s at least going to be safe through the end of the year. Given that it’s mostly likely Magu’s editor Ishikawa behind the Twitter account I expect one for Sakamoto Days soon as well (would be best to strike now while the iron is hot on that one).

Jump #29:

Great:
Sakamoto Days
- Shin and Heisuke outsmarthing that guy was cool and now Sakamoto is getting ready to kick some assess, baby.
The Elusive Samurai - The elusive technique is dope. The character development in this arc is great.

Good:
Blue Box
- Art is so clean. The story flows really good.
Kowloon's Ball Parade - Interesting development of the game. Hibuse really is a monster of an athlet.
Witch Watch - A lovely emotional Father's Day chapter. And the CP is so lit btw.

Fine:
Candy Flurry
- Well, somewhat funny roasting there!

Meh:
I tell C
- So we are supposed to guess the password? No, thanks.

About ToC #30:
Well, we all knew that I tell C won't last long, so that axe was expected even earlier. I won't really miss it.
It seems that Kowloon's Ball Parade will stay with us for at least one more round and that is a good news. I think that if this was in WSM the authors wouldn't be forced to rush through the story and would have much more time to polish it. This sport manga has the potential to be as good as Ace of Diamond imo.
Glad to see Blue Box doing so well and ouch for that Candy Flurry drop. This isn't a good sign since the last couple of chapter were pretty fine.

Red hood art is amazing, but I believe that is TOO MUCH similiar to that of My hero Academia. This is not good

I can definitely tell that Red Hood is influenced by Horikoshi’s style, and that the artist was an assistant of Horikoshi.
But it’s not SOOO similar that I would mix the two series up, not so I have an issue with the artstyle.

Makes me think of that One Shot a few months ago where every criticized the artist for “copying” Horikoshi’s artstyle, and the artist made a public apology. Same deal there. His art was clearly influenced by Horikoshi, don’t see how ppl thought it was THAT similar that it was a problem.

The way faces and hair are drawn is similar.
However, the story should be quite different based on the one-shot (which was pretty good).
Also, there are many examples of artists who start without an unique artstyle and then develop their own with time. Even big names like Araki.

I am not too convinced about the design of the main character, but I would wait the chapter before saying more.

i think people are more forgiving when assistants have similar character designs to who they were working for than just randoms having it.

to me only the red hood faces share similarities I think the rest of the character body (anatomy and physiology) and the environments look different

yeah, it was one thing with Zipman being in a similar setting, similar non-specific but modern-slightly future time period and comparable premises. Red Hood shouldn't share any of those aspects with MHA so I really don't think similar art style will be a detriment to it.

I imagine they probably change the name and made “Red Hood” a subtitle to avoid potential legal issues.
Since Red Riding Hood films, literature, tv shows, etc. are extremely common in the states

And Ignoring getting sued, there are just so many different media in the West with different variations of the title “Little Red Riding Hood”
