Wow, this might be the best issue I’ve read all year! At least for the ones that I read.

My Hero Academia: Welp, we finally got the overdue apology. Although I still have issues with how things built up toward this, the chapter itself was good. And I can’t wait to see what Horikoshi has in store for our girl. I hope.

Sakamoto Days: Another solid chapter from Sakamoto, and I’m glad the author decided to have a change of pace instead of the usual Sakamoto punching through everyone to save the day. Looks like we’ll have a strategist joining the crew too.

Red Hood: Good world-building chapter all around and plenty of mysteries abound. I really hope this one sticks around. Betting on the village chief to be a former legendary hunter or at least related to them.

Dr. Stone: Solid chapter as usual.

Blue Box: *deep breath* *exhale* Man, I just hate Miura for being so damn good at what she’s doing. This chapter has left me clutching my stomach and twisting it. God.....I usually hate love triangles, but Miura is so goddamn good I can’t even hate this development.

If this really blows up internationally..... Welp. *goes to shed and takes out the ol’ military equipment* [me, lighting a cig] *cocks rifle, puts on helmet* Aye, lads! Git yer gear and hold that damn flag steady! Yer gonna listen up and well, because what ye see standin’ in front of ya here is sumbody who seen things! *shows Naruto/Bleach shipping war scars* Now! We march! For TaiChi and KyoxHina supremacy! Git that banner up high so everyone near and yonder can see!

Bleach: What can I say? Kubo is back. And with a better sequel hook than Burrito to boot. Seriously though, if this is setting up for a Bleach next-gen sequel (and let’s be honest, we did have that sketch of the kids going to school together), I think Kubo should really move to a monthly mag in Shueisha. Or this is probably just for the anime-only sequel, and Kubo is putting all of his energy in BtW.

Edit: Bonus points for representation too! We usually have blind badasses in manga/anime, but this is a first for a deaf combatant, especially in a series as gigantic as Bleach. Put a smile to my face, as I’m one.

Undead was pretty good, solid pre-battle chapter, though I was expecting a few more chapters of buildup

Mash was also pretty good, very refreshing after being pretty out of the last arc. I liked having the goals going forward laid out for us, and the comedy was decent

Ayakashi was good, pretty big reveal this chapter so I wonder what it's going to do with that

Magu was Magu, nothing to comment on

Roboco was great, unsurprisingly for a Gori and Motsuo chapter. The Hunter x Hunter references landed really well, and in general the gags were on point

HSF was good, Kotaro acting like a senpai was a really good moment

Sakamoto was great, I mostly like the new character, gags landed well, and who doesn't love a gambling arc

Elusive was great as well, the comedy solid, the strategy was interesting, and the last page has me excited for next chapter

Witch too, was great, loved the twist, and I'm looking forward to the upcoming fight

Continuing having great chapters, Blue Box was incredible, completely sold me on Hina. Really bittersweet stuff

Candy was solid, decent looking action chapter, managing to be at least entertaining for a series that's not got long to live

I really liked Hood this week, really wish we got this a bit sooner rather than staying in the village, but it's fine. I liked the new characters, the new monsters, and the bits hinting at something greater going on

Neru was pretty good, fun stuff

Probably the best issue we've had in a while, nearly every series had an above average chapter

Wow. Red Hood was pretty good this week. Chapters 3 and 4 were awful, but chapters 5 and 6 have been really amazing. I hope it mantains this momentum.

In fact, Red Hood has been my favorite chapter this week (well, my second favorite chapter. My Hero Academia has been the big winner of the week for me again).

Hard agree that this was one of the best issue in a long, long time. I thought last week's was excellent but the return of Bleach and so many other series delivering excellent chapters was great to read. No bad chapters this week. The magazine feels like it's heading a good direction after the many vacancies in the past year or so.

Bleach Tier
1. ( - ) Bleach (Special) - I never thought I'd see the day.... but it's back, an actual chapter of Bleach! And by the looks of it will be returning to serialisation in some shape or form. Who knows when or how it's going to happen, but this was a brilliant start to a new arc that so many had wanted and the chapter did a stellar job at reintroducing us to the world of Bleach after the epilogue. If you were told this was chapter 687 and it came out just after the 'final' chapter it would blend pretty seamlessly. I have so many thoughts since this is my favourite series that I grew up with as a teenager, and all of them right now are positive. Loved seeing the old characters in their new positions as well as the newly introduced cast filling out the vacant spots of the Gotei 13 (badass deaf boy and gear girl already fan favs). There's so much potential with the revelations here that has the fandom alight, what a perfect chapter! And wow does it feel great to see this get such a positive reception after the years of Bleach being bashed week after week. Happy days.

Great:
2. ( = ) One Piece - Excluding those monumental intermission chapters between the Acts, this is my favourite chapter of Wano, I reckon. Robin continues to get the spotlight I've wanted from her foreverrrrrrrr, and even Brook got another fantastic moment. Two of my favourites in the series being badass, and then we cut back to another build-up to what might be the final confrontation. Really buying the Momotaro theory of him (Mononosuke), the Monkey (Luffy), the Dog (Yamato), and Phoenix (Marco) facing off against Kaito after these Straw Hat fights wrap up.
3. (+2) Me & Roboco - Amazinggggg chapter! This is a Hunter x Hunter tribute I can get behind. Loved everything from the narrator, to the main gag (crass as it is) coming back at magnified levels as the chapter went on, and that heartwarming finish. Once again I'm reminded that I love all these characters and their bond(o).
4. (+3) My Hero Academia - This is what the series needed, and I think it came at the right moment. It was draining to be so focused on a negative Deku for that long, but that seems to be the point. We finally (FINALLY!) get a moment from Bakugou that I've been waiting for since the beginning of the series and it was very well executed. Best chapter of this final act and since the highs of the war arc.
5. (-1) Neru: Way of the Martial Artist - Despite so many of my favourites absolutely killing it this week, Neru continues to deliver a really fun exam arc; we get more insight into Neru himself, and I like him even more now. Again, action was lovely. The victory achieved feels justified and well-earned. I seriously hope this survives despite all odds because it's had my favourite start of any series since Act-Age and Haikyuu!!.
6. (-3) Blue Box - I've spent so long trying not to get too interested in Hina because I want the main pairing to succeed - and I'm 100% confident they will - but how can you not feel sorry for her after this chapter? Whether it does become a love triangle or not, the main feeling I got from that final spread was her realising she might be losing her friend to someone else in a way she never expected, so it doesn't feel as simple as so many series would portray it.
7. (+3) The Hunters Guild: Red Hood - The best chapter of the series so far, I'd reckon. That damn hamlet is gone and the world of Red Hood is already looking much more exciting and creative as a result. Really enjoyed the brother and sister duo we saw, the animal designs are continuing to excel, and the exposition we got was nice. Only thing that took me out was another potential exam arc in the magazine right now. It's in direct completion with Neru (even more than would be obvious) and while this is my lesser of the two, I don't want to see it fail either.
8. (-7) Jujutsu Kaisen - Seven spots down from last week but this was still a great chapter, not as packed as last time but things are moving nicely. We got some slick action and Megumi and Panda and I'm still curious to see where this little side quest goes. So glad to have it back in the magazine again.
9. (-1) High School Family: Kokosei Kazoku - At the risk of sounding like a broken record, this was maybe one of the best chapters of the series? At least in terms of how many laughs it got out of me, it delivered the jokes one after another. Seeing the dad turn into a son again was both hilarious and endearing.
10. (-4) Sakamoto Days - Seems like we're going into a Lu arc, which is what I was waiting for. The new character isn't my favourite trope (actually it's one of my least favourites) but there's hints of there being more to him, and there were some highlights in the diner I really liked this week.

Good:
11. (-2) Undead Unluck - I especially liked the table talk we got, felt like the calm before the storm. Also a good set-up for these Spring arc battles, but damn this really feels like a final arc to me. I wouldn't be shocked if it were the case but I'm liking the series so much that I don't quite want it to go unless it feels natural, so let's see.
12. (+4) WITCH WATCH - You know what, that was a twist I didn't see coming! Now it makes sense how I thought the focus on his character seemed sudden, but it was still a neat revelation and now the action is in high gear thanks to it.
13. ( - ) Dr. Stone - This is thirteenth for me but it was actually a really good chapter! Especially considering it was all science-focused, which I usually cringe over. I'm not sure what it was but the computer science was enjoyable and I liked that Yuzuriha finally got some focus after being semi-irrelevant for most of the series.
14. (-2) The Elusive Samurai - It's back down low again but it's still a good chapter. I liked the back and forth throughout, though it was the ending that stuck out to me. I love seeing this side of Tokiyuki.

Fine:
15. (-4) Mission: Yozakura Family - I'm not as fond of this sister, and while the concept of this test is different from what I expected it's not exactly the most thrilling thing to read. Not bad at all but against the powerhouses this issue it doesn't really compete.
16. (-3) Mashle - A nice enough change of pace after what we've come expect from the last arc, but also these sorts of chapters never do much for me either, so... loss-loss? Let's see how the balance evens out when things get more serious again.
17. (-2) Black Clover - Another chapter of this fight that I'm not that interested in, but at least it's nicely drawn.
18. (-1) Ayakashi Triangle - You know what, I'll take the nudity in this chapter because the character who I was most interested in the flashbacks is now in the present story and I'm actually kinda interested to see where this goes, even if it will be short-lived.
19. (-1) Candy Flurry - The paneling and action still isn't very good and it's still clearly going a different route than the author envisioned due to its upcoming end, but you know what... I've seen rushed endings be handled a lot worse.
20. (-1) Magu-chan: God of Destruction - This was a pleasant enough beach chapter that I will forget about in a few hours.

Bad:
N/A

So what's everyone's guess for the future of the Bleach manga? Obviously there's no information beyond the promise of a new arc but when and in what form do you reckon it'll come back? I can't see it being in anywhere other than Weekly Shonen Jump and likely not until 2022. If it is weekly I don't think it will be a very long arc, maybe a few volumes, but if it gets an irregular publication with longer chapters like this I can see it being semi-present in the magazine for a good while. And then there's also the promised Burn the Witch S2, but it seemed the editors revealed that sooner than Kubo would have liked. Either way, Bleach fans are finally winning. :')

Wonder how much is The Elusive Samurai #1 considering is supposed to be more popular but is just going to reach 100k this week after a month, unless Blue Box is actually more popular and Shueisha just underprinted the hell out of it.

Oh, Shueisha is most definitely underprinting BB. I would surmise somewhere between 200-250k to be a realistic projection after a month for it.

I think putting BB 1 above Black Clover and Dr. Stone is optimistic, especially since BB has not ranked above Dr. Stone once yet (or even ES).

I know part of that is the underprinting issue, but I think that is part of the reason it definitely won't reach 200K. Remember M&R got a circulation of 20K announced after its first volume, despite only selling 11K in its first month. Sales are always less than circulation, after all. So I think the month will end around 100K for BB at best, with strong legs into the following month.

It would be nice if I was wrong, though. BB could very well still shatter all our expectations.

Sorry for being late, yesterday I was hit very strong by the effects of the Covid vaccine and it was really hard to even read the chapters, let alone reviewing them.

1. My Hero Academia: A very strong, emotional chapter that closes this mini redemption arc. Bakugo was the GOAT and we get to see Deku in face again. My only complaint is that once again Hagakure did absolutely nothing.
2. The Elusive Samurai: I was left very impressed by the end, when Tokiyuki finally decides this is just too much. Those guys are really fanatic, what's the point in dying a meaningless death?
3. Blue Box: A Beautiful chapter dedicated to Hina and her feelings, she felt really sympathetic. The fact that we changed the PoV for once brings me hope, maybe one day we will be able to see what's going on in Chinatsu's mind.
4. Witch Watch: It started as another boring chapter, then...BAM! What a twist, I didn't see it coming at all. Now I am excited for the upcoming fight.
5. Sakamoto Days: After the Shin arc, now it's time for the Lu arc. What I liked the most is that the new "villain" knows he can't beat Sakamoto in a fight and chooses a different battleground. Even Sakamoto himself is relieved!
6. Black Clover: Most battle chapters in Black Clover are measured in how cool the sudden entrance of a side character will be. This week was certain positive in that regard, since the entering character has a proper motivation to intervene. Actually, as long as it is not Asta, every character intermission is fine.
7. One Piece: We are moving with the story, in the sense that we are getting rid of all those side battles one at a time. We get a great power-up for Robin (although in the end it's just a giant clutch) and even Brook fared well. What fights are left? Sanji maybe?
8. Highschool Family: Highschool dad inception! Finally Ichiro knows how it feels to be embarassed by your dad at school. Luckily it was a stand alone appearence and not the introduction of a new character in their school life.
9. The Hunters Guild: Red Hood: I liked the chapter, this series is finally improving. We finally meet some new faces and see some new battle abilities. But come on...another exam arc? Seriously? What's going on in the mind of all Jump authors?
10. Jujutsu Kaisen: We are setting up the ground for something very nice. There isn't much to say for now because it was a transitional chapter, but I'm certainly interested in what is going to happen next.
11. Mashle: This chapter was useful for a bit of recap. So, now we are provided for an acceptable reason for why Mash is so tough and why is so chased. It they play this well, I may be able to accept more his next curb-stomp battles. The humour of the beach episode was also funny.
12. Bleach: It's middle position for me. The initial part didn't get me much, it was more or less a showdown of many characters that we met and loved back in the days, I'm not necessarily a fan of this. The last 10-15 pages raise the stakes very high, and that's the Bleach we knew and loved. Although nothing is confirmed, it is clear that the idea is to continue with at least a volume of content, although I was also hoping to get Burn the Witch season 2. Another small note: I am also reading the re-edition of Mangaplus, and our heroes have just arrived at Soul Society for the first time, facing many hurdles with the threat of dying in case of failure. Things seem very easier now.
13. Mission: Yozakura Family: The second stage of the exam didn't convince me much, although I have to admit that it suits Futaba well. This will conclude in the next chapter anyways, when we will see what is the solution to the riddle.
14. Undead Unluck: It tried to be an emotional chapter, but it didn't land much, at least on me. It was mostly because last week we seemed ready for the showdown so now I was expecting some action. Also I'm not interested in seeing the two factions one against another, I'm interested in seeing all of them versus Spring.
15. Neru: Way of the Martial Artist: The exam goes on, it wasn't necessarily bad but I'm starting to think everything is way too easy for the protagonist. Those ninjas aren't really worth their value.
16. Me & Roboco: I remember the last time we had a "double issue" chapter it was one of the best for the series. This time it was still funny, but there is this feeling of having been there already. I heard there are many HxH references, unfortunately it has been too long since I read it, maybe if I was able to get them I would have liked this chapter more.
17. Magu-chan: God of Destruction: The good old beach episode takes a twist, and shows our protagonists working a lot instead of enjoying the summer. I cheer for Ren's sister, but apart from that it was a pretty forgivable chapter.
18. Candy Flurry: Girl is overpowered. I still don't get how "having a giant lollipop" can be considered as the supreme superpower among all of the others that have been shown so far. Lol at how far in the background she is in the cover group.
19. Ayakashi Triangle: I am disappointed at the reveal of the new character (apart from the fact that she revealed "a lot"). If she really is who she says she is, that's not the personality I was expecting her to have. But I think and I hope it's just some kind of illusion.
20. Dr. Stone: In a regular Jump review, a chapter of Stone that is focused only on science explanation is put more or less in the middle. This week I have no choice but to put it in last place. That's how good this week's issue is.

Neru and HeroAca were the best this week, really cheering Neru on.

Blue Box and Red Hood were probably the worst. Hina's role in the story is unclear and any of her feelings for Taiki seem insensible and forced. Red Hood feels like this could have happened at chp 3. Pacing is a mess. The characters aren't interesting.

Oof. Tough luck man, hope you recover soon. If I may ask, which one was it?

I think it’s not too hard to imagine her death had something to do with the way she turned out right now. So I think her soul is essentially “trapped” by some dark forces who took advantage of her in her moment of death (which may have been her lowest and most vulnerable moment).
