Oh, I did just a little translation:
-Setsubun Festival
-Valentine Day
-Spring Break
-Unknown episode of League of Villains vs Paranormal Liberation Army
is this part of the "School Briefs" volume set?

I don't believe in tsugi manga awards, last year Undead unluck arrived first, and still sell 50k... while mashle was 8th and sell like 150k per volume.
Agravity boy arrived 6th and they axed it. it was so unfair
just like award shows, rarely does an award get people to rush out and by something, Just a commendation for the author to pin on their wall, and people to forget like the week afterwards.

You wouldnt blind buy something and value an award over an interesting plot, cute character design, and familiar cushiony art.

Also to address Mr. Bait.
Not everyone in the world have time to read every manga to find the one with interesting plots and art for to read.
Award like this is like a huge advertisement billboard. Iirc, sites like bookwalker have their own sections for awarded and nominated manga.

pietro provided examples where award winning manga failed to get any upward momentum and were cancelled. theres numerous other cases for it. No one is going to pick up Osho no Koi because it won an award versus their friends, the authors ongoing manga, or an pv/vomic/anime getting them interested in it instead.

Dont see how it was anywhere close to bait. Sorry.

Your name is literally Mr. Bait

But also yeah, winning awards can cause a short burst of interest (UU is a good example), but I agree that there's no long-term upward trends unless the series was already growing. Awards are primarily a celebration of the work.

Sasaki casually pretending Naruto didnt ruled the western anime/manga community during the 2000's and half of 2010's, also Bleach and Death Note were more popular than One Piece during the 00's

The only way I could see One Piece being even arguably close to most popular WSJ manga here is if they're going off of amount of reprints, but even then, I still doubt that due to the fact that Naruto existed.

confused how he gathered one piece is the most popular among english fans, all those years of naruto domination, death note with its infinite appearances in the top selling chart in america, and hero academia's rise.

Also good to remember that Death Note outsold One Piece in Japan during 2006, both at total and volume alone, so if in Japan it did, imagine how much more popular it was in the west.
