more importantly Yozakura Family and Magu Chan are getting merchandise thats going to sell like crazy. Anime will be justified.

It's just a shame that all this merchandising isn't helping at all.

Yozakura may win an anime, but that doesn't mean it will be successful.

It is not 100% guaranteed that a manga that wins an anime will be successful, after all many animes do not win a 2nd or 3rd season.

here they are from /a/

Vroom looks very interesting, 2nd looks like a Lady Dimitrescu spinoff, 3rd has some interesting art, curious if is a romcom, 4th looks like something from a Hiro Mashima assistant and 5th has a interesting art, overall feels like a different GFC this year.

Btw, everybody talks about GFC winners failing and Red Hood being the new example while they're starting a new edition but we actually have a GFC winner author in the cover celebrating the 2nd anniversary, i wonder if Jump didnt purposedly announce the new GFC in this issue to be like "Hey look, Gondaira Hitsuji, a winner is doing good in the magazine, this can be one of these new authors too!"

Since RE8 I've noticed there's been a whole bunch of Hasshaku-sama's showing up all over Japanese media. I guess WSJ's got newbies going for it too.

Not to mention how Gondaira went from doing 0 spread pages during the entire first year to like half of the chapter being spread pages in the 2nd year :p

Shonen Jump is surprisingly slow on manga/anime trend

Because they like to be trendsetters, not trendchasers

Are there any other authors that won the GFC besides Gondaira currently in the magazine? 🤔

It's not that GFC authors themselves are failures, it's the winning oneshots themselves that always flop upon being serialised. There hasn't been a GFC oneshot serialisation that became a hit since 2008 with Beelzebub. Heck there hasn't even been any that made it beyond 30 chapters since then, Phantom Seer is the most successful GFC serialisation since Beelzebub.

Some have found success with something different though, Tabata and Gondaira won their contests while Gotouge and Gege were runner-ups in theirs. Although I think Gege in 2016 was the last participant who's become successful.

How much Gondaira has improved since Chapter 1
1st Cover
1st Color Spread
I don't see that big of a difference aside from the use of colors, but that is because the art in MYF was already very good at the beginning and it is probably one of the strongest points of the series.

Gondaira's art was never bad, it was good but it was "simple", not impactful enough, it lacked more style too, mostly because the total absence of spread pages during the 1st year and also the comedic tone, when he started the tone shift to more serious and got Haikyuu editor is when there was the "click" in his art and it went up to the sky, the color pages, spread pages, panels, the overall character designs, everything went up and started to exude style.

According to some people who have the latest volume, it looks like the manga is already ending

According to Boku no Hero volume 32 extras the final act was originally intended to be 5 volumes

Translation from the extra

"Final act. I thought it'd be about 5 volumes but now I'm not sure anymore."
"What will happen to Deku? what does it mean to be the greatest hero? Will the Ganriki lady appear in the story?"

I remember people trying to guess when the manga would end, what would be the last volume, and now with this new information, when do you think the manga will end? 2022 or 2023? How Horikoshi wants to finish the story but still has a lot to happen
