NOOOOOO PLEASE GIVE ME BACK RED HOOODD.. noooooo this shouldn't be axed!!. Goddaamitt
Impossible. The series sells very good and probably will have also an anime announced for Jump festa. So, I don't think. So do you guys see Ayakashi ending any times soon? The series sales are completely static, and at this point it feels like it can enter an endgame arc whenever is feels like with relatively little trouble.
Evidently it did get another cover in 2018. But I have doubts that a brief period of being a "hot topic" would impact the entire editorial department in terms of decisions to this day. Especially since they have since published stuff that was even more risque (epsecially refering to "that" CSM spread). After ghost tits fiasco, I don't think Jump would ever let any ecchi manga get cover page.
While I wouldn't say WW is in the best postition right now, I think the virtue of it being a newer series does lend it some higher odds of surviving. And the sales have shown some growth, so there's that.I'm pretty curious where it'll go from here. It's the worst ranking series excluding newbies generally (though Witch Watch has been low lately) and things are set up so that it could end quite well in 10-15 chapters if it needed to, but WSJ I think expects ecchi stuff to place low and it's not losing sales, so perhaps it'll still be fine for a while?
Evidently it is just speculation. Or else we would still have something like Agravity running today. Samon too was hit like that. How come the sales expectations for gags are reportedly so low? Like Dr Slump was a massive hit and even kochikame was a huge deal, not saying gags shouldn't have some lower expectations but from what i've read from posters in here, a gag that could say 40-50k a volume without much growth would be extremely safe
Those are outliers. Look in the top selling series every year and it's dominated by action, adventure, rom-com. I'm not even sure what the best selling ongoing gag manga is right now (not just Jump but in general). I'm guessing it's because humour is far more subjective. I could read MHA because I like the characters while someone else could read it because they like the fight scenes, someone else because the powers are cool, etc while with High School Family there really is nothing but the jokes so if you don't find it funny you have no reason to buy it.How come the sales expectations for gags are reportedly so low? "The stales have stagnated to the point..."The sales have stagnated to the point where I just can't see any sort of growth anymore, it has already reached it's peak. Not to mention that it has the single worst ToC of any "ecchi" (note: this term doesn't actually exist in Jump/Shueisha lingo as ラブコメ is used instead. Ecchi isn't a genre term at all in Japan) barring failures like E-Robot, to run in Jump. The fact that it has never gotten a cover after the inital one, not even for it's 1st anniversary, while newer series like Sakamoto, Blue Box and Elusive have gotten 3 each so far, says it all really.
This is exactly how I feel with every Mashle chapter lol19. Mashle: Welcome back from your first break! Oh, I see you are still the usual Mashle as always. Ok then.
Thanks! I wanted to check if any editor was a serial-killer...I mean, series-killer.Here.
Not sure if you wanted Red Hood and Neru too, but check Taguchi, Murakoshi, Takano, Naito, and Katayama.
I still need to add a section for Sakakibara (Ayashimon), but as Mankichi noted, he’s a Jump+ editor whose biggest launch was the Deadpool series. Though he was in charge of Jigokuraku for much of its run.
