This sounds really good, it reminded me a bit of Beelzebub with the supernatural delinquent/yakuza thing, so far everything about this series sounds like it will be a popular manga.

Don't jinx it.
I know, but honestly, this will have to be really bad to flop, the author will already have at least the Jigokuraku fanbase supporting it, at worst Ayashimon will be like Ayakashi Triangle with stable sales but not growing.

Really? For me I'd compare it to Yu Yu Hakusho. A street punk who can brawl gets dragged into the world of demons and ghosts by a female emissary from the underworld. But I believe in jinxes myself so I'll curb my enthusiasm.

I'm worried it'll be too generic and too boring

No please, it would be another wasted world building.

Great growth for Sakamoto, Witch Watch is inching up a bit and TES looks like it's sliding (maybe RxL 2.0?)

6. The Elusive Samurai 3 (41,251)
12. Sakamoto Days 4 (25,357)
14. Witch Watch 3 (20,859)
For comparisons:

Sakamoto Days #1 (7,563) - 3 Days
Sakamoto Days #2 (13,560) - 3 Days
Sakamoto Days #3 (15,938) - 3 Days
Sakamoto Days #4 (25,357) - 4 Days

The Elusive Samurai #1 (32,073) - 3 Days
The Elusive Samurai #2 (53,483) - 5 Days
The Elusive Samurai #3 (41,251) - 4 Days

Witch Watch #1 (14,520) - 3 Days
Witch Watch #2 (17,634) - 3 Days
Witch Watch #3 (20,859) - 4 Days

Sakamoto Days had a good growth, WW very little but still a growth but TES look like is already stagnating/declining in 3 volumes, for comparison Ayakashi was pretty stable/growing with 3 volumes:

Ayakashi Triangle #1 (33,114) - 3 days
Ayakashi Triangle #2 (32,888) - 3 Days
Ayakashi Triangle #3 (39,777) - 4 Days

Curious to see how The Elusive Samurai will perform from here.

Yeah, hoping too that the manga fan angle lets them do some fun references.

Maybe the editor will make sure of that:

My worry with Ayashimon is that it'll be full of infodumps, Jigokuraku devolved into endless infodumps for much of the second half and while that's fine once you've already build of a fanbase who's attached to the world and characters, it's a really boring way to begin a series.

guess elusive samurai wont explode like AssClass. School series are easier to relate too.

Honestly, I think what is/will hurt Elusive Samurai's ability to grow compared to Ass Class is the ages of the characters. The main characters will age no doubt, but so far at least they're mostly either 9-10yo kids or adult men.

Shounen needs plenty of teens and young adults to really hit it big, Elusive Samurai has a bunch of cool and distinctive designs for all the adults, but it doesn't have much in the way of pretty characters (male or female).

Not surprised by Elusive's situation. AssClass had the major advantage of how it appealed to Jump's main readerbase in terms of story content, touching on the systemic enviorment of the Japanese education system and the pressure placed on students, which made it prime material to build a readership. Elusive isn't bad, but it's written like a chanbara drama, which makes it far more niche in terms of appeal even not accounting for the characters ages (which I personally don't think is a big deal).

I think the think about TOCs nowadays is that trends >>> a placement in any particular volume. If Mashle or BC starts to consistently place in the Bottom 3, then there might be something there. But I wouldn't be worried at all at this point.
