Introduction
There is the possibility that the imitation Lightning Spear technique is something Lyborick developed later on (due to his yet to be revealed inferiority complex). It may not have been his original fighting style.

During Genesis, it seems as if he didn't fight with the Lightning Spear technique, and instead used a massive spear and lightning shinsu:

I don't think he's the kind of character that would troll Kallavan by using a random technique for shits and giggles (so far, he's come across as very pragmatic). If he changed his fighting style, then there must be a reason.

Speculation
Perhaps he was defeated by a natural born Lightning Spear Bearer, and that gave him feelings of inferiority:

As a result, he tried to imitate the Lightning Spear technique to comfort himself:

This would tie in with what White said about the 4th Corps pawns being experiments created by inferior beings to comfort themselves:

Yorayo himself affirmed that Lyborick was involved in these experiments:

And just as Yorayo was able to catch White's sword, Lyborick's imitation was able to catch up to the firepower of the Lightning Spear technique:

To further support this speculation, I'd like to point out that Lyborick seemed to be sensitive about his imitation Lightning Spear technique (as seen when he questioned if Kallavan was saying that his technique was weaker than the Lightning Spear technique):

Caveats
A major implicit assumption that I've been making so far is that Lyborick's imitation of the Lightning Spear technique is tied to his inferiority complex. This is not necessarily the case.

In fact, there might be reasons to suspect otherwise:
  • Lyborick participated in the creation of the 4th Army Corps experiments to assuage his feelings of inferiority.
    • Considering that the experiments were all created to escape the Tower's laws, perhaps the feelings of inferiority were directed at those who naturally escape those laws (i.e. the Irregulars).
  • Aria seems to have witnessed Lyborick wallowing in his inferiority.
    • Aria compared White's inferiority towards Baam to Lyborick's inferiority, further suggesting that Lyborick's inferiority might be targeted at an Irregular.

Of course, Lyborick could always have more than one inferiority complex. Whatever other inferiorities he has aside, his imitation of the Lightning Spear technique seems to be come from a place of inferiority. If not, he wouldn't have been rankled by Kallavan's accusation that he was not a natural-born Lightning Spear Bearer (and the implication that his technique was inferior to theirs):

Conclusions
I don't think this has to be true, or is most likely the truth. I think it's simply (one of many) internally consistent explanations for why:
  1. Lyborick has an inferiority complex.
  2. Lyborick now fights by imitating the Lightning Spear technique.
  3. Lyborick appeared to fight differently during Genesis.

There are several other potential explanations for those three facts, so this isn't any sort of prediction. And it may even be the case that Lyborick's inferiority complex has nothing to do with his apparent fighting styles.

Rereading some old lore, I remembered that the males of the Po Bidau Family undergo some kind of test/selection process to be part of the Research Association. If they don't make the cut, they're eventually kicked out of the family.

What if Lyborick first used to be more of a Po Bidau than a Khun, but he didn't make the cut to be part of the Research Association and thus, got kicked out of the family? This might have caused Lyborick to resent and start developing (consciously or subconsciously) an inferiority complex towards them. It would also explain why Lyborick so far has always been portrayed as a member of the Khun Family instead of a Po Bidau, despite Po Bidau being his first surname.

Following this hypothetical line of thought, after being kicked out he could have tried to go to to the Khun Family to search for acceptance there, but he was also unlucky in this scenario. He had the Electric Quality but not the Spear Attribute, an attribute that's pretty common among the Khun Family, a Family that mainly has Spear-Bearers. It's possible some of his half-brothers and sisters mocked and looked down on him for that, further increasing his already existant inferiority complex.

Refusing to be mocked further, he tried to develop his own imitation of the Lightning Spear Technique. After training hard, he suceeded in doing so. It was a technique that presumably caught up with the OG Lightning Spear Technique, so the complains could have possibly ended there.

It's very possible that at some point he wondered why he couldn't have been born better, which is probably the reason he got into experiments to alterate/defy the natural laws of the Tower that made him like that in the first place (he probably was also very jealous of the Irregulars, beings that don't follow those rules). This is where his relationships with the Workshop and the Lo Po Bia (based on what we've seen so far, Traumerei seems interested to create greater beings that don't follow those rules) could have started and could have lead him to where he is now (the LPB demanded him to be the CC of the new 4th Army Corp, although it's not sure whether they really trust in him considering the existence of the 2nd Portal, but it at least suggests he might have some connections with them).

In this hypothetical scenario, Lyborick would most likely not be a traitor and perfectly loyal to the Army. Indeed, so far there has been little to no sign that he's one too.

It would also explain why Lyborick so far has always been portrayed as a member of the Khun Family instead of a Po Bidau, despite Po Bidau being his first surname.
"Lo Po Bia" is the first Family name of "Ha Satcha". Ha Satcha was born and raised in the Ha Family. She chose to become a feline though, and may have been adopted into the Lo Po Bia Family. She bears "Lo Po Bia" as her primary Family name.

If Lyborick abandoned the Po Bidau Family for the Khun Family, then his primary Family name should be Khun.

My issue with this is that Lyborick's Lightning Spear technique wasn't something that he had developed during Genesis. He was just using a normal spear and his Lightning Shinsu:

And during Genesis, Lyborick was already a full fledged member of the Khun Family. So I don't think it's something that he came up with to gain acceptance within the Khun Family.

It was a technique that presumably caught up with the OG Lightning Spear Technique, so the complains could have possibly ended there.
Not really. SIU said that all imitations of the Lightning Spear technique are inherently limited unlike natural-born Lightning Spear Bearers:
Season 2 Episode 199 Blog Post
To add to my last week’s exposition,
Maschenny-style electric spears can only be used by Maschenny’s children.
[TN: https://towerofgod.fandom.com/wiki/Khun_Maschenny']Khun Maschenny, the mother of both Ran and Maschenny Jahad]

There are spells that copy it similarly,
but unlike Ran’s, they don’t have the same effect like the https://towerofgod.fandom.com/wiki/Redan']Lightning Pill

Since they’re forcibly mimicked, they got a limit unlike that of Ran’s.

(the LPB demanded him to be the CC of the new 4th Army Corp, although it's not sure whether they really trust in him considering the existence of the 2nd Portal, but it at least suggests he might have some connections with them).
That's what Asensio told AA, but Asensio did not give AA the full information.

He left out:
  • That there was another order to annihilate FUG.
  • That the Lo Po Bia Family had allied with the Khun Family for the coming conflict.

Lyborick himself said that he was chosen to consolidate the three-way alliance between the Khun Family, the Lo Po Bia Family and the Zahard Army:

This doesn't sound like the Lo Po Bia demanded him to be the CC of the new 4th Corps. It sounds like Lyborick becoming the CC of the Lo Po Bia Army Corps is a political marriage between the Khun and Lo Po Bia Families.

And the reason he does experiments is probably because of his Poe bidau blood and he wanted to prove himself but eventually gave up and instead wants to lead the attack on the Poe bidau family.

I don't understand, the blog post you cite says that there are spells imitating the Maschenny-style electric spears, but those spells are limited. How does that translate to a rule that every imitation of a Lightning Spear technique can't be as good as the real one? The fact that Maschenny technique can't be imitated was most likely due to being related to Maschenny's bloodline as only Maschenny can use the technique without downside, while other Lightning Spear technique may not be blood based technique but a pure lightning spear shinsu technique.

And like Kallavan said, Lyb developed his own Lightning Spear technique that seems above average, rather than an attempt of imitating an established Lightning Spear technique. Kallavan also emphasize Lyb is not a natural born Lightning Spearbearer, and Lyb was able to catch the firepower of a "traditional" Lightning Spear technique due to Lyb's Lightning quality, leading me do believe Lyb is overcompensating Lightning shinsu to match the usual Lightning Spear technique. Lyb probably abandoned try to get the Spear shape quality and use physical spears as a crutch.

I think the "spells" and such that imitate it was a catch all term for all techniques that imitate it.

"Forcibly mimicked" describes exactly what Lyborick is doing. He's forcibly mimicking the Lightning Spear technique.

Kallavan said Lyborick is not a natural-born Lightning Spear Bearer:

So Lightning Spear Bearer is something you have to be born with the innate talent for. All the other Lightning Spear Bearers probably have their own bloodlines.

And like Kallavan said, Lyb developed his own Lightning Spear technique that seems above average
Kallavan did not say that his technique is above average.

He said that Lyborick is stronger than the average Lightning Spear Bearer (due to Lyborick being an elite High Ranker while the median Lightning Spear Bearer may not even be a High Ranker).

Kallavan said that Lyborick's technique was able to catch up with the firepower of the Lightning Spear technique. It is not stronger than the Lightning Spear technique and is at best comparable to it (even that is doubtful though).

Lyb probably abandoned try to get the Spear shape quality and use physical spears as a crutch.
Yes, that's how he imitates the technique.

Beyond Lightning Spearmanship being a bloodline ability, it's a consistent theme in ToG that imitations can never match the original, so I don't think Lyborick would be any different.

"Forcibly mimicked" describes exactly what Lyborick is doing. He's forcibly mimicking the Lightning Spear technique.
For all intent and purpose, Lyb wants a "Lightning Spear technique" in his arsenal. Lyb couldn't achieve the traditional Lightning Spear technique, which probably requires 2 obvious components : the lightning shinsu and the spear shape shinsu. Lyb is not a natural born Spear Bearer would mean Lyb doesn't possess the Spear shape shinsu. Regardless, Lyb went ahead and develop an alternate way to achieve a Lightning Spear technique, by taking out the shape shinsu out of the equation. Because of that, I believe Lyb's technique is not an imitation but its own thing, with different advantage and disadvantage than the usual Lightning Spear technique.

A Khun Spear Bearer can improve his Lightning Spear technique by either improving his lightning quality shinsu or his spear shape shinsu.
Lyb's technique only allows him to improve his lightning shinsu, and he has to rely on a spearsmith to improving the "spear shape shinsu" part. But at the same time, Lyb only need to worry and refine his lightning shinsu, while offloading the other part to another person, someone talented smith from the Workshop for example.

Kallavan did not say that his technique is above average.

He said that Lyborick is stronger than the average Lightning Spear Bearer (due to Lyborick is an elite High Ranker while the median Lightning Spear Bearer may not even be High Ranker level).

Kallavan said that Lyborick's technique was able to catch up with the firepower of the Lightning Spear technique. It is not stronger than the Lightning Spear technique and is at best comparable to it (even that is doubtful though).
You're right.

Beyond Lightning Spearmanship being a bloodline ability, it's a consistent theme in ToG that imitations can never match the original, so I don't think Lyborick would be any different.
As I have said, Lyb's is not an imitation but a different approach. As an example to illustrate, it would be like a bow vs gun, both are projectile weapons but achieve it differently, each has advantages and disadvantages (though guns has much more going on for it).

At the risk of being nickpicky, I don't think a lightning spear attribute is made out of two things as you mention. Rather, lightning spear is just the one attribute. And you can potentially have a lightning attribute, a spear attribute but not necessarily a lightning spear attribute. The lightning spear attribute would of course appear to encompass what the two independent attributes do. Though it remains to be seen whether pure electricity from a lighting spear is as good as pure electricity from someone whose attribute is exclusively electricity. This is not a series built around fairness so it's entirely possible that there are no tradeoffs here in that regard though.

As for the technique lyborick uses.. to me it looks like a combination of wave controlling and lighting with a weapon. Basically using wave controlling to control the spear. My speculation here is that lyborick doesn't have a spear attribute of any kind, hence his usage of wave controlling to control the spear. Which is ok for normal combat but position wise lyborick is bound to not be as accurate or match the range of spear bearers that are actually in his tier.

Kallavan himself said that Lyborick's technique is an imitation:

I don't really see the point in denying this.

Lyb is not a natural born Spear Bearer would mean Lyb doesn't possess the Spear shape shinsu.
Is AA not a natural born Spear Bearer? His shinsu quality is an Ice Spear. Nonetheless, he can't create a spear out of pure ice and must use a physical spear as the base.

That's exactly what Lyborick's imitation Lightning Spear technique does.

Lyborick can't create a spear out of pure lightning, but that doesn't necessarily mean that he lacks the spear shape. He may simply not be talented/skilled enough to do that.

So far only Data Eduan and High Ranker Maschenny have created proper spears from pure lightning.

That said, I do think he probably lacks the spear shape.

As I have said, Lyb's is not an imitation but a different approach. As an example to illustrate, it would be like a bow vs gun, both are projectile weapons but achieve it differently, each has advantages and disadvantages (though guns has much more going on for it).
  1. Kallavan disagrees and said that Lyborick's technique is an imitation of the Lightning Spear technique.
  2. Lyborick himself replied by questioning if Kallavan was saying that his technique was inferior to the Lightning Spear technique.
  3. Kallavan then commended Lyborick's technique for catching up with the firepower of the Lightning Spear technique.

Not only is it outright stated to be an imitation, it's constantly compared to the Lightning Spear technique.

I don't mind being corrected if I'm wrong or not accurate enough.

I don't think a lightning spear attribute is made out of two things as you mention. Rather, lightning spear is just the one attribute.
Possible, I made the assumption that you can have those two separate attributes and can combine both.

Kallavan himself said that Lyborick's technique is an imitation:
If it is SIU speaking through Kallavan that Lyb's technique is an imitation, then I concede. But if Kallavan is merely voicing his opinion on Lyb's technique, well Lyborick took offense on that. If he took offense that his technique is just an imitation (and ends up being an inferior product to the real thing) then he disagreed with Kallavan's analysis. Between the two of them, Lyborick should be more knowledgeable about the Lightning Spear technique than Kallavan logically (on the assumption Lyborick spend a lot of time researching & developing his brand of Lightning Spear).

I don't know why Khun can't make a spear out of ice shinsu. Maybe it was easier for him at the time to do that way until he can properly make an equivalent of Lightning Spear technique, I don't know. AA is a natural born Spear Bearer, but he pointedly not trained in it for a long time because he can't beat Eduan through this way. But at the same time, Khun did learn ice shinsu quickly, like a month, I don't know if he only focused on training with ice shinsu and not spear shape shinsu.

Well normally everyone can use any attribute I recall, simply people have affinities to certain attributes. Like you say, Lyb was simply not talented in spear shape shinsu, at least not good enough in the same way as his lightning shinsu.

  1. Kallavan disagrees and said that Lyborick's technique is an imitation of the Lightning Spear technique.
  2. Lyborick himself replied by questioning if Kallavan was saying that his technique was inferior to the Lightning Spear technique.

A gasoline car vs an electrical car, is an electrical car a mere imitation of the gasoline car? This is how Lyb's Lightning Spear technique vs traditional Lightning Spear technique comes across to me. Lyborick wanted his own Lightning Spear and developed his own, much like Maschenny developed her own (yet no one is saying that her technique is a mere imitation, in fact it seems to be superior to everyone but Eduan's). But hey, if SIU comes and say Lyb's technique is just a knock off and is inferior to a Lightning Spear Bearer of the same fighting category as Lyborick then I'll accept it.

Asensio is a Spear Master:

(This places him in the highest class of Spear Bearers alongside Maschenny Zahard):

Asensio controls his spear through shinsu:

So he does exactly what you claim that Lyborick does and is nonetheless in the highest class of Spear Bearers.

Controlling a spear with shinsu makes you a more formidable Spear Bearer, not less.

Anyway, I hope we can see Lyborick using some Po Bidau gimmicks in this fight too. With the seemingly upcoming war between the Lo Po Bia and Po Bidau, it would be good to see a glimpse of what they're capable of.

If he took offense that his technique is just an imitation (and ends up being an inferior product to the real thing) then he disagreed with Kallavan's analysis.
No, Lyborick was taking offence at the implication that his imitation was weaker than the genuine article:

(And this offence does not prove that his imitation is not weaker than the genuine article, it just proves that he's sensitive about his imitation.

Per SIU, all imitations are inherently limited).

Note that Lyborick never once denied his technique being an imitation.

Nor did he disagree with Kallavan's analysis.

Between the two of them, Lyborick should be more knowledgeable about the Lightning Spear technique than Kallavan logically (on the assumption Lyborick spend a lot of time researching & developing his brand of Lightning Spear).
Sure, but Lyborick never disagreed with anything that Kallavan said.

A gasoline car vs an electrical car, is an electrical car a mere imitation of the gasoline car? This is how Lyb's Lightning Spear technique vs traditional Lightning Spear technique comes across to me.
But you are wrong. Kallavan said otherwise and Lyborick never disagreed:

To be frank with you, this sounds like mad cope. Your claim doesn't have any actual basis in the Webtoon. All the exposition on Lyborick's technique was given to us by Kallavan (Lyborick never said anything except to question if Kallavan was saying that his imitation was weaker than the genuine article).

Denying the exposition Kallavan gave us on the technique is silly. At this point, you might as well deny:
  1. Lyborick not being a natural born Lightning Spear Bearer.
  2. Lyborick's technique not being the Lightning Spear technique.
  3. Lyborick's technique functioning by injecting spears with electric shinsu.
  4. Lyborick being stronger than average Lightning Spear Bearers.
  5. Lyborick's technique being able to catch up with the firepower of the Lightning Spear technique.

You chose to accept everything else Kallavan said, but deny that it's an imitation because it contradicts your headcanon?

I'm very much not a fan of denying character statements without basis, but if you're going to do that, at least be consistent about it and throw out all the Kallavan lore.

Don't pick and choose what suits your agenda.

Lyborick wanted his own Lightning Spear and developed his own
But the webtoon says that Lyborick's technique is not a Lightning Spear technique but just an imitation:

The Lightning Spear technique creates spears purely out of lightning shinsu:
Season 2 Chapter 47 Blog Post
SIU said:
The Maschenny-style Lightning Spear technique that Ran uses is a Lightning Style technique invented by Maschenny Jahad, who made an appearance a while ago.

It’s a technique that turns Shinsu into a spear, so it grants the advantage of being able to take the Spear Bearer position without being armed with spears.

(Compared to ordinary shinsoo manipulation techniques, Lightning Spear techniques are much faster and have higher accuracy.)

As it allows one to participate in both short and long-range battles, it is considered to be one of the ‘ultimate spear techniques’.
Source

So Lyborick's imitation cannot be a Lightning Spear technique.

But hey, if SIU comes and say Lyb's technique is just a knock off and is inferior to a Lightning Spear Bearer of the same fighting category as Lyborick
Kallavan already told us that:

Either accept it or reject all other lore about Lyborick's technique Kallavan gave us.

Yes, I posted the same scene thrice.

Because it requires a certain level of skill in addition to talent.

Data Maschenny could only form a crude Lightning Spear:

Contrast Eduan's proper Lightning Spears:

Meanwhile, her High Ranker version can form a proper Lightning Spear:

Well normally everyone can use any attribute I recall, simply people have affinities to certain attributes.
If you mean the shape, then yes I think so.

If you mean the elemental nature, then no. Only the shinsu of a few special people have qualities.

Like you say, Lyb was simply not talented in spear shape shinsu, at least not good enough in the same way as his lightning shinsu.
At the very least he was not able to form a proper spear made out of lightning shinsu.

And he seems incapable of even crude Lightning Spears, having to use a weapon as a base.

But the webtoon says that Lyborick's technique is not a Lightning Spear technique but just an imitation:

The Lightning Spear technique creates spears purely out of lightning shinsu:

So Lyborick's imitation cannot be a Lightning Spear technique.

Kallavan already told us that:

Either accept it or reject all other lore about Lyborick's technique Kallavan gave us.

Yes, I posted the same scene thrice.
You're right to point out I should be consistent about what Kallavan said and not just pick and choose. I'll stew about this, maybe something is just not clicking in my brain.

And he seems incapable of even crude Lightning Spears, having to use a weapon as a base.
I'd say Lybrock can make a spear to contain lightning shinsu, simply put his container is too weak to hold the basic lightning power Lyborick has. Like his spear shinsu's "power level is 100" while his lightning shinsu's "power level is 100k" (numbers pulled out of ass, just to illustrate the difference), there's a huge divide between what he can do between these two and thus can't combine a lightning spear of his level, that can affect people of his own tier.

On another topic, Lyborick's inferiority, I like @Shadowlord123 hypothesis that Lyborick got booted out of his family because he was inadequate. That kick starts his inferiority complex. He got lightning shinsu so he went to the Khun and tried to be part of the family by adopting what Khun are expected to (being sneaky bastard and having his own lightning spear technique), but even then he failed. At this point, he felt he belonged to nowhere, so he applied to the army, and there it seems he found his place. But because of his past, Lyborick is probably overdoing it with zealotry, so as to not be thrown out.

Possible, I made the assumption that you can have those two separate attributes and can combine both.
I agree with that. Though that mix is probably still inferior to an actual lightning attribute. Probably better than what lyborick can manage from a strictly spear bearing point of view (for the time being I am a bit of the idea that lyborick's technique is probably outside of the norm of what a spear bearer does). Since this would at least come with an actual talent when handling spears.

Welp, lyborick doesn't have an actual lightning spear so... And maybe not even a spear attribute. So he should be plenty knowledgeable on his version but about as knowledgeable as he can be on attributes foreign to him when it comes to the real lightning spear attribute.

Probably because aguero was just no good at shinsoo control immediaely before this... And maybe he still has some reluctance to using a spear? From a plot perspective aguero getting the capacity to make a real ice spear is bound to mean yet another power boost for him (same as rak eventually getting the shield).

It is posible that the khun family has the same problem as the clan hyuga in naruto
That one who are lighting technician or from a special bloodline like the maschenny’s are separated from that braches that can’t do it in the main family.
So he’s trying to gain power and status through
The military/goverment.
