Hello fokes~

As the title suggested, this thread is about attempting to shift perspective, and see whether that would work out with anything found in the manhwa, in order to build better understanding of the framework that is set in the Tower of God universe.

For starter - We know that Rachel has in all likelihood never seen the stars, but she either knows or believes them to be real. As such Rachel was either also captured inside a cave, or she was always part of the Tower to begin with.

Second - It's reasonable to believe that the story has never been shown outside the Tower, not even the cave holding Bam, the one and only hint we have about the outside world outside the Tower are the "reachable" real stars.

Third - It's possible that the door shown to us at the beginning of the story, is the door to the actual ranking section of the Tower. So far we only know three ways to get into the ranking floors.
1) As a ranker you get free access, but you're not allowed to interfere with regular exams.
2) Haedon grants access to regulars.
3) Irregulars who open the door to the ranking floors themselves.

Fourth - Rachel found Bam by sheer accident in her attempt to get into the ranking floors. The reason she knew so much about the Tower is because she was always part of it, however she was never part of the ranking floors (regulars / irregulars) before she meet Bam. By looking for the floor entrance she found the cave in which Bam was being kept (by someone or 'something, like the Tower itself').

Fifth - Rachel was never selected by Haedon, and this was her motivation to go find the door herself. She would never have gotten in the Tower without Bam's irregular powers.

Sixth - Bam was also always part of the Tower, but he came from outside the door to the ranking floors, and not the Tower itself.

Seventh - It is yet unknown how irregulars become so powerful, however we may suspect different scenarios, one such as;
The Tower having a logical will or alternatively a primitive will on its own, seeks change, thus gives regular babies irregular powers, and this baby is then placed in the dark isolated cave by someone linked/servant to the Tower itself, like Haedon.

Eight - The reason Bam and the other irregulars were kept in the dark cave isolated since earliest memories is in order to make them powerful enough to survive the Tower ranking floors, and perhaps shape their mentality too in order to become powerful (Think of Revolution, to find true self within).
Irregulars become powerful when finding their irregular powers by finding their true self, and by stripping them from influence of others early in their life irregulars will find this task easier than normal people, who are used to be listening to what other people want from them since earliest memory.
In other words, the dark isolated cave is training in other to make a more perfect Revolution later on like in the hell train.

Ninth - Rachel accidentally forced Bam into the Tower prematurely before he was ready, he was still a child and seemingly as far as we know, perhaps more weak than the other irregulars when they entered the Tower.
Rachel did not only hinder/interrupt his isolation training in the cave, she might also hinder him from becoming truly powerful for a good while yet after revolution, not reaching his full potential as an irregular due to her influence and making him prematurely enter the Tower.

Tenth - It can be suspected that what makes Bam different to all the other irregulars is his prematurely entrance to the Tower, which may shape him differently to the others in ways we can not predict. Perhaps the one and only reason and point about the isolation cave is to avoid them from dying when they enter the Tower, yet Bam managed to get through this key-hole despite of being weak early on (Note the level of test Haedon did give Bam, yet Bam was not ready for this difficult level test yet which he normally would have been if not for Rachel making him enter prematurely).
Another difference is the Thorn he carries on his back.
Yet another difference is his mixed light and dark periods of life that other irregulars seemingly did not have (since they were powerful from the beginning and had been isolated for such a long time, then they did not rely on other people nor had many friends, lone wolfs). Bam has been with FUG and now he's once again with his valuable friends. How will this affect his Revolution which is about finding one true self?
Perhaps there are other visible factors that make him different yet to be discovered.

Eleventh - As such, Bam never really came from outside the Tower, he was always part of the Tower from the beginning, but not part of the floor ranking Tower. In the beginning of the story we saw how cave like the bottom of the Tower is, it seems to be similar stone/cave structures both sides of the door Bam and Rachel crossed in the beginning. We know that shinso is apparently only found within the ranking floors, and not in the living quarters of the Tower, for example where Kuun and all the other regulars originate from before coming to the ranking floors.

Twelfth - We know absolutely nothing about the outside of the Tower, we only assumed Bam was outside, however he was only outside the floor rankings, hidden away at a locked cave near the floor rankings door.
It is reasonable to assume that this door is only being used for irregulars, and that almost no one knows about it. Perhaps it used to be used for regulars back before the irregulars were created, and this might be how Rachel found out about the door through stories and legends of the past.

Thirteenth - The irregulars are needed beings for the Tower, where someone/something above Zahard started bringing them in by isolating them in the dark cave near the cave.
Regulars: Need permission to use shinso.
Irregulars: Loved/Liked by shinso itself, the Towers "will" is with them.
(Similar power structure as with the manga Magi, but with a very different story/design).

Fourteenth - The Tower is not happy with the current state, and until it finds the desired state within the Tower, it will keep giving newborn babies extraordinary powers, which then are sealed in the cave at the door to the ranking floors until they are ready. The Tower gives the baby powers, and a servant of the Tower (Like Haedon) finds the baby and seals it within the cave.

This is just a theory of of course, it would be neat if we can discuss the feasibilities and/or links to sources and logic in the manhwa, so that we can get a better understanding of the framework of the ToG universe!

I made an account to this site just to reply to this thread.

Firstly, I want to say I. LOVE. THIS. THREAD. Your Postulations... Spot on stuff! So!

Overall, Your running Thought of Rachel/Baam 'already' being in the Tower is SPOT. ON. in my opinion! Because, its never stated/implied that they were 'completely' outside the Tower, that is to say, "in the real world" if you will.

Though, that causes me to think about your theory about Irregulars as a whole, as it is stated they are implicitly 'outside' the Tower; not just the Inner Ranking portion but even the Outermost Floors; like Irregulars don't exist *anywhere* in the Tower. (And this fact is always insinuated by everyone who knows of/mentions Irregulars, which explains a lot actually.

-1. It explains why they are so highly sought after by FUG (every creature in the Tower is bound by the Rules of the Floor they are on, set by the Guardian. (*Obviously, Zahard has contracts with X Guardian for rules etc., such as that he cannot be killed by anyone who already exists in the Tower.) They exist *completely* outside the Tower, and brute force their way in, so they are not bound by the Guardians' rules (i.e. Enryu killing one/ridiculous shinsoo control which is also set (restriction) by the Guardians)(We also know that there are multiple doors into the Tower, as well as any/every floor, accessible from 'the World outside the Tower.'

-2. It explains their ridiculous Power (and the fear of it); no shinsoo regulation = Going Wild.. that with unknown abilities or weapons (i.e. Zahard and crew upon entering the Tower).

But now, then what of the situation with Rachel and Baam..? They *are* irregulars, but they don't seem to come from the 'world outside the Tower'.. Puzzling! That door in Ch. 1 certainly seems like an Inner Door to the Tower, and then also the Seal of Zahard was in Baams' Cave*. Maybe we're both right, about Irregulars.. or perhaps someone exiled Baam outside the Tower.. (but then why the mark of the Seal in the cave?) So many questions!

*Something to nibble on: That Seal is representative of Zahard's Ruling Body, Not necessarily Zahard himself. SIU already stated that Zahard has *no* sons, so Baam cant be his son. Perhaps the Ruling Body/Rulers of the Tower exiled Baam there? Maybe he has something to do with that 'Return of the Prince' business?

Beyond this, I agree with all of your points and love your direction!

Finally found a thread about the "Outside"... As the story is leading towards atleast one more irregular - irregular conversation, where this time Baam isn't some small kid that should not know the truth, I think we may get more info (even a little more hint) of the 'Outside'.

A little [NOT AT ALL crucial] info I noticed while rereading was outside world maybe using 13 months calendar.
Season 2 Chapter 240, Garam said that, actually there is a "International Fixed Calendar" (wikipedia), that suggests 13 months of similar days to replace current system... this maybe the source of idea for SIU.

Holy thread resurrection.

This one didn't age well. For instance, we know the OG13 entered together, knew each other, knew of outside, and it doesn't seem like they were compartmentalized in caves beforehand.

We also know tower weapons are based on the weapons they brought in, and are exogenous to the tower itself. So, if the weapons come from outside, and came with the explorers, then there obviously are civilizations outside making those weapons of which the OG13 came from in the first place.

We know that Urek followed Phanta in supposedly, so that was a conscious choice of his.

We know that Enryu existed outside the tower, with his god, and entered as the emissary of said god.

So, they likely entered after living a somewhat normal life outside the tower like anyone else existing outside the tower, which, considering the size of the tower, is probably trillions of other residents on whatever planet the ToG universe is in.

As opposed to being repurposed regulars sent to the basement or whatever. The system of the Tower doesn't seem to be self-isolated when it comes to irregulars coming (and going?) from the outside.

Obviously, where Baam and Rachel subsided were in the cave was considered 'outside' of the tower in some sense for them to be able to enter as outsiders of sorts, so it is part of the outside world, or ancillary to it. Maybe a pocket-dimension. Maybe the basement is connected to the Tower yet still associated with the outside (and you have to travel through caves to find the door).

The extended-universe story also talks about Axes and other entities that live outside the Tower (one of many).

Press F for @Redeemer - he wasn't with us long...

jubei after checking some facts i believe that GW are not from outside of the tower i mean axis world
They are from the outter tower that is still part of the tower.
cause the red light district is zahard home-born town
And after he became king him and few of the GW went there to make bastard kids… so he later destroyed his hometown how is this possible? They got out the tower? No
They are from the outter tower
Phataminum, maybe Enryu are really from outside. I can be wrong.

fun fact: there’s a zahard three eyes symbol at the door of the tower the place where baam was living with rachel.

i believe the outter tower are out the admin influence and floor rulers that’s why fug is hiding there
so if you born out of the admin influence and you open the door by yourself you still a irregular
It seems that this is not possible for nobody born under admin influence they born under a contract.

This is not a very checked info
Im saying this by old memories when i was reading all the blog post and wiki info and profiles.

I agree with @Jubei_Kibagami that this resurrected thread's speculations haven't held up very well.

That said, it got me thinking about an angle I hadn't really considered up until now: SIU has never shown outsiders (other than Baam?) as being at all surprised by (a) shinsoo itself, (b) shinsoo enabling "special powers," and (c) (outsiders) consistently being insanely overpowered within the tower world.

Enryu is a good example: he's shown as warping directly to Arlene's favorite floor, immediately defeating the administrator, and using shinsoo in theretofore unseen ways (and by implication with insanely high power levels...). I mean, sure, it's possible Enryu's unknown backstory contains a long previous stay in the tower, but that's not how he comes across in the flashbacks. In fact, it's not just that he's wilding out in god-beast mode within minutes of tower entry, it's that his plan is only rational if he is believes he will be able to go in and defeat all comers.

Similar reasoning applies for Phanta and Urek, too, albeit with a healthy amount of mutatis mutandis.

No real conclusion or speculation, but it does subtly imply something about the outside: powers of various kinds are common outside the tower, and/or the outside world has a lot of general knowledge about the tower, or something.

It's more noticeable if you contrast with other similar genres like portal stories (or the, uh, inverted portal genre like solo leveling or omniscient reader's viewpoint and so on): those usually include scenes establishing surprise over the other world having magic (or over our world suddenly having magic, etc.).

Right. And they all entered with weapons. Which could have simply been preventative, or could speak to the sense that they had a rough idea of what to expect. These weapons were then remanufactured and redeveloped for other tower denizens to use in shinsoo, which we know has some properties of air, but us yet different and varying densities. Probably like how air IS a fluid of sorts, then you have liquids. A better example is a superfluid that is heated linearly, and becomes more viscous on each floor, with, what, non-Newtonian fluids on peak floors? I digress.

I think Urek entering to deal with Phanta, supposedly, speaks to the outside beef they had going on which was obviously developed to some level prior to anything Tower-related.

Enryu clearly knew of his abilities as well. As you say, he could have previously been in the tower, only to leave (it would make sense an outside 'god' as it were had an angelic herald that could come and go with relative if not complete ease), and return. Or a function of the outside god bestowing powers to him and/or the thorn through him. Obviously Enreyu used thorn powers against the admin and Z rankers, whether inherent in his own abilities (later deposited in the thorn), or the actual thorn itself. Which would mean he knew it's abilities beforehand. He was completely unmoved by an admin squaring off against him, and took him with ease. He absolutely knew the limits of his abilities, which were none in the face of even a floor admin, which should have prevented his ability to use shinsoo against it. And yet he masters the shinsoo even over the admin.

There's also the case of how he and the outside god even know of Arlen's defacement and such, if the tower is a closed loop and information isn't coming and going. Or why they'd even care to intervene. Clearly, some level of civilization exists outside the tower (and a god there would impart a religion exists, possibly one of many competing).

And that all these superpowers have absolute knowledge of what to expect going in. Save maybe the adventurers which seemed to be adolescents. And Baam the baby, completely naive to everything.

I'd even suggest Rachel had a more informed idea of things both in and out of the Tower than the OG13 going in the first time. Although apparently she hasn't seen stars herself, at least she knows what to be on the lookout for.

Side note - long time no see. You must be avoiding the tired chapter discussions.

Urek followed Phanta until they said he is weaker.

The door we saw in the firsts chapters is in a cave probably it's a difficult place to reach.
That explain why they are all very strong but not why they are no more irregular.

Phanta killed a lot of strong guys from Zahar army, that why Evankell took the place on the second floor and Kallavan, Yasratsha and Loborick are Corps commander.

I'd even suggest Rachel had a more informed idea of things both in and out of the Tower than the OG13 going in the first time. Although apparently she hasn't seen stars herself, at least she knows what to be on the lookout for.
Urek said he saw the sky. Why did Rachel chose the tower and not running away?
Headon seems to know very well the past from Rachel maybe she is from the Tower or Headon knows the outside?
It's obvious than Gustang went outside the Tower he knows the ways.

The main question is why 13 irregulars enterred the Tower in the same time.
