In either case it means his two previous summons were insufficient. So he ordered them to do a task they were not qualified to do. Which is a miscalculation at the very least.

Imo If he is recognize the power of both yas and yama, he will not summon his shinheuh, he will fight himself that's what I take.

It might be moot as Yas seems to be stopped, finally.

Although Yama remains and he hasn't even pulled out the trump cards he holds, so we'll see.

Question: What, exactly, should a summoner be doing after summoning a summon to do their bidding to show 'effort'? Thrashing about in a near-seizure?

How is that 'not trying' exactly?

He's continuing to bring summons online. That's *trying*.

My idea of how an anima (summoner) should fight is fighting alongside his summon. The main arguments for this are:
1. that's the most effective and powerful method
2. anima is not one of the main positions in ToG world, meaning every anima has their main position they can utilise in tandem with their summon

What we've seen in the last few chapters are a couple of fighting styles when it comes to animas.
We have Traum summoning (IF he even does this, those summons could be passive) and letting his summons fight instead of him, Pudidy fighting alongside his Owl and Holan directly controlling his summons.

What does 'trying' for a summoner look like? What SHOULD he be doing with his body, EXACTLY?

He's not sleeping either. I've seen that silly claim for two chapters now.

Of course. But whether he puts in personal effort or brings on other summons - either way - he's increasing his workload.

And yet that's Rei's biggest feature. It's what makes him unique just like Yurin with her hardened skin. Or Eduan with his spears. If Eduan's spears weren't effecting the reaction he expected, that would be significant.

My take is his main power it isn't summoning, you can see it at glance a few when traum was fighting with ackrinak, he just summon one of his shinheuh, after ackrinak lose, nennen just shooting die with his spear without fighting.

So far 100% of interactions Rei has personally had with an opponent he wishes to vanquish, he's used summons. That's kind of his thing.

No one is suggesting he doesn't have other means available. Every FH can excel at every position for instance. But, they certainly have attack types they seem to default to.

Yeah, he was sleeping till Yas unexpectedly broke through and was about to punch him. He underestimated them and now had to do some damage control by summoning two extras
