Im waiting for it too cause I did a quick skim with the last pages and can't find any except snippets from here and someone's mobile translation in Twitter. Though it should be sometime soon within the week (I don't know much what happened to the usual translator but I hope they're doing fine)
@axolotl sorry for the delay

It is implied that the anima control the beasts by mind control techniques.

lefav's explanation of kraken exemplifies this well.

It's not a person's strength, but their talent/potential as an anima to control a given creature.

If the shinheuh were subjugated by force, Dokoko would never have a windbird
I think what I wrote may not have been sufficiently clear.

First, my original comment was due to many posts seemingly judging animas exclusively on the strength of their wielded shinheuh. That’s erroneous, and I posted the author’s definition to show why. I don’t think I wrote anything on how subjugation works and if it’s forced or by contract or some other symbiotic means.

Second, I gave examples of individual animas that exemplified the point.

Third, and as a repetition, an anima should not be judged solely on the strength of their shinheuh, because animas, without the input of their shinheuh, can and do excel in typical primary combat roles. Like Yas, Elaine, and Lefav. Pudidy, for example, wouldn’t be able to engage in close combat with Jinsung if all his combat ability was determined solely by his owl. The available one or the one left behind.
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---

Yes, they are, but just because it's a secondary position doesn't mean it has to be inferior to the main position.
Some people rely so much on their Shineuh that we have to guess their real position (does anyone know Holan's position?)

You can't whine about "limitation" like a prayer when your only examples are exceptions and not the rule.
The rule is the definition. What you make of it is your own decision.

Secondary or not, an individual being an anima does not prevent the said individual from being a superior fighter to the subjugated shinheuh. Animas do not fight exclusively with shinheuh. In fact, as per definition, they shouldn’t be expected to.

So let's see, being an anima is this super-rare, super-useful blessing that only a select relative few in the tower have access to.
It's hard to be rare when you have a whole squad of anima in fucile division.

Rare is relative. That's the cream of the Tower, right? As are the brass in the LPB elites.

I bet you still agree they fight *mostly* with their summons, in any event.

Regardless of whether his shinhueh are his primary combat ability or not, there's no reason that they need all be specialized for combat purposes. The frog seemed primarily a support-type long range shinhueh. The dragon and the kraken could probably either no diff High Rankers near the Top 100, if what they're doing to Yasratcha is any indication. I don't see why people are so upset with Traumerei so far: either SiU was going to keep having characters tremble in awe at the FHs until the last 50 chapters of the manwha and we were all going to complain about the pace, or he was going to string some feats out along the way as morsels for us to gnaw at. He seems to have gone for the latter approach.

Moving into speculation territory, Traumerei is the lowest-ranking FH. (?) He still seems completely untouchable to anyone except the strongest in the Tower, but maybe his strength is less the depth of his fighting power in terms of sheer 1v1 potential and more its breadth. He's a walking army.
I wouldn't be surprised if each summons was not only elite in raw combat power, but also had a utilitarian touch. Like Cobalt being able to teleport.

As for being the weakest among the 10GF, I think that's clear. Not only from his rank being one of if not the last stated, and thus at the bottom, but from a storytelling perspective SIU would probably have Baam start at the weakest of the Akatsuki and work his way up.

I honestly don't know who is judging the animas by the shinheuh, even because all the anima rankers that appeared here had high level creatures, except for Didiano.

But otherwise, the fact is: LPB are judged by their talents as anima and those are his main weapons.

Want another example? AA, he may combine and have the talent to be an LB, but when he wields a spear his lineage comes to the fore.

Aside from YHS, Sunwoo Nare and Verdi (and we don't know the origin of these two) ALL the other animas shown are LPB and it has been said that this family has taken the position to another level.

Most may even have other abilities, but it's how animates they shine.

Jinsung: seems like I made you worry.

Seems like? I don’t think Jinsung know what’s happening now. This isn’t a simple rescue mission. It’s wheels within wheels. Either Jinsung is high or his sense of humor is on a whole new level. Bam has started a war to save Jinsung.

Can’t Bam contact his colleagues through light house? Why does he need to go? Is he planning to bring them with him to wrap drive? Considering how things are going I bet Mascheny is cooking something. Will she backstab someone this time or will she take someone hostage? I bet she’s upto something as she’s someone from the trademark family of douchebags. Considering the second part, I see Yas has already prepared to die. Gotta appreciate Yas’s guts seeing how he’s prepared to death and fighting in an impossible match. He’s the true slayer. How many more chapters till Akrinak will pop up? By the way are these two battles happening simultaneously? I lost the scale of time. Also Bam did something interesting this time, multiple shinsu with shinworyu. That’s totally different level. Waiting for Bam - Trau meet, I hope it happens next chapter. What will Bam address him as? Son of V or son of Arlene or just irregular?

Where is the evidence that the whole squad in fucile division is anima?
Chapters before the hiatus, we see several male goats carrying bowls for the anima.

And it's not the entire Fuscile division, it's a platoon.

Interesting fact: Verdi controls an octopus, one of the most difficult animals according to Lefav.

And SIU throws it away, regretfully.

I just assumed he meant the divcos of Yas (not Fuscile) as they are all reliant on beastification. While not an anima, it's kind of anima-adjacent. Instead of summoning a creature, you BECOME the creature. Or a portion at least. Satcha is the odd duck here. And we don't know enough about Fuscile either way.

Not because lo po bia is only one of family head that didn't introduction by SIU?
Well, we know his rank can only be lower than his other FHs that are stated. Wouldn't it make sense to start at the bottom, or at least relative bottom?

Let's assume 3 tiers for ease of discussion:

(S tier - Zahard alone)

High - Hon, Eduan, Yurin
Mid - Everyone not in the other tiers
Low - Hendo, Rei, Han (?), Hana, maybe TPP in spite of his rank (perhaps his other attributes put him higher in rank in spite of relative strength) - although maybe his LB skills make him OP and mid-tier who knows.

Rei is more thank likely in the lower tiers. Still, a FH and an irregular so that's not to minimize him as powerful, but only relative to the other irregulars.

Isn't it only Han and Rei that can be the lowest at this point? Edit - in rank, not necessarily in raw power.

I think so, we need someone in real position to see it.

Khell Hellam may very well be one, but like EVK we haven't seen him 100%.

I think the current Baam has the potency, but not the full means, of course, this will often be more than enough.
i just can't see khel hellam putting a fight againist baam who fought with white much less the current baam who absorbed levi. Though he might be top 50, i don't think it would be because of his strength though, but rather his skills which makes him extremely rare teleporter in tower even among high rankers and add to this top 100 strength,he might be top 50 or top 60. Though khel hellam was sure of defeating yama, he also said it would take him a lot of time and effort to do it. Unlike baam who just played with his food for too long and almost got punished,While he could have very vell humilate White in a straight fair fight and make it as if he has done it effortlessly. And that version of yama was weaker than yasratcha who is slightly weaker than kallavan,so yama is likely to be not strong as White either. The pressure White gave to battlefield was unlike anyone else at nest.

I think if baam really stops being a princess and starts to be serious like how he did againist white,he might very well even defeat top 2 warriors of LPB who is the strongest warrior of lo po bia family aside from Traum.

Yeah, but, what's her position though? That's obviously *more important* and I'm sure she could fight just as well without her one notable feature...

Relying on the anima skills is a bug, not a feature!

Or so I've heard.

But I didn't say Baam would lose to Khell Hellam, I just said that the only person with a real show of strength who can be in the top 50 is Khell Hellam.

We don't know if Yama is weaker than White and Yasratcha is not weaker than Kallavan, SIU just said that Kallavan would have an advantage, there are many factors in a fight.

I think we forget the strongest guy here… THE CAPTAIN! He can probably beat Traumerei by himself. just saying.

I think you're joking, right?

But I wouldn't doubt he couldn't give him a run for his money, truly, and obviously immortality aside. Certainly he could take on more of his summons than Yas. Who knows, he might even make Rei... stand up.

If only because of who I think he really is.

I’d say it’s a win if he can make Rei standup. If he was strong enough to beat Rei, he doesn’t need to play these hide n seek games. He’s at most CC level I bet.

Hey, you know the old trope is the more mysterious a character, the stronger they are - generally-speaking.

Very true. Actually, I’m using this trope in my novel, hehe. It’s fun to write this trope. Still someone stronger than a family head who’s not an irregular is quite hard to imagine. Besides CC level isn’t weak. We’re watching way too much high rankers battles lately to be able to tell what’s normal.

My proof is that Rachel is an irregular but Gustang still considers her As Trifle, Just like Traumerei does to anybody other than irregulars.
I'm some pages back so someone may have already commented on this, but Gustang refers to Rachel specifically as vermin, and calls all of the others non irregulars bugs/insects

Whether or not they rely on their shinheuh is moot. That is NOT their primary combat ability. The shinheuh is a unique combat tool only they can use in addition to their primary combat ability.

Those who have gotten dependent on their shinheuh to fight, is their own limitation, not THE definition of what an anima can do.
Hey, I don't have the whole context of this discussion but at the point of this comment specifically it's more semantics than anything else. Yes, anima is an ability one may have. Not a position like the "normal" 5 (fisherman, scout, SB, LB, WC) because it's something you can or can't do, not something you are good or bad at. A fisherman may be horrible with spears, but he can throw spears, he can act as a SB just as he can act as any other position (of the "normal" 5). A non-Anima can't ever control Shinheuh (forget oddities like Baam, who was able to use Arie swordsmanship when Albeda was inside him or whatever, that sounds strange). In that sense, it's probably the case (SIU could always change later, but as of now it seems to be this way) that every Anima gets a "normal"/traditional position of the 5 at the Floor of Tests regardless if they eventually fight using those abilities or not.

The question about primary combat ability or who/what an Anima is is just semantics. If by primary combat ability you mean all Animas were assigned a normal position and are able to fight (despite how good or bad) at that position or really any of the 5, then sure. If by primary combat ability one means the fighting styles and techniques a Regular/Ranker adopts, then surely one can go from showing it one time as a "I'm capable of doing that too" (YHS vs Ren) or don't seem to use in combat (Yasratcha and his cat) to fighting almost exclusively like that (Kendrick Diel, Dokoko, et cetera) i.e. their primary combat ability may or may not be Anima abilities, with most Regulars/Rankers that were specifically said to be an Anima fighting predominantly with the aid or exclusively with their Animas. Nobody says "YHS, Anima user", or "YHS, WC and Anima", or "be careful, that YHS dude is an Anima" but it may happen that a character is stated specifically to be an Anima and his normal position is not even mentioned. Of course that was just an example and most people probably don't know that YHS has anima abilities, but I think ppl can understand that.

Who/what is an Anima seems to just be a case of using the same word for two different purposes (like I said, semantics). Anima is both used to refer to someone with the ability to control Shinheuh, regardless of their proficiency at it (YHS is an anima, that regular little girl from 2F is an Anima) as well as to denote people with great Anima abilities ("LPB FH is said to be the greatest Anima of the Tower") or that at least use it as a significant part of their skillset.

Also, kinda related to this topic, idk if Traum "is a SB". Since he's a gifted Irregular he'll probably be better at it than most SBs, but that doesn't mean it's the way he physically engages opponents when fighting seriously, I wouldn't jump the gun that fast. Remember the context, he wanted to kill Nennen, and for storytelling and visual purposes he couldn't just obliterate her body or something like that, it had to be visually impactful but not humiliating, he was showing piety to a creature not even worthy of domination. In what ways he could achieve that? Surely not with some LB bs skill/ability. Also not with needles/hooks/fisherman abilities, he wouldn't move up to her or use something so huge that he wouldn't have to approximate, it'd be disproportional. The same goes for scout things. Not using a shinheuh, since any of his giant shinheuhs would be overkill, and summoning a small, fodder shinheuh just for that when he already has a giant shinheuh deployed would be... contrived, less impactul, and less personal than killing her with his own hands. He could just blast a whatever Shinsu technique or just use a sufficiently powerful baang, but it wouldn't be visually impactul, could destroy her body and would leave room for doubt as to how and what killed her. That leaves a simple spear as the best way SIU could show it to us and in universe, when Traum appeared with Nennen at the Canine camp WW didn't ask himself or Traum what happened, who killed her, he knows it was Traumerei and that he did it simply and direct, without any hesitation, one hit kill, pierced her with a spear, the weapon still there, her blood dripping from the wound and mouth. A great scene, in my opinion, it makes good use of its medium strong points.

Well, the discussion is already too long for me to check on what most people said, but from the overall glance, it seems a considerable amount of people think Traumerei looks weaker than what you'd expect for a Family Head.

That's waaaay too much of an assumption. I mean, he might even end up being the weakest, because narratively speaking it kinda makes sense that a weaker one would be the first opponent, but the dude has yet to even move... How can anyone make that type of assumption? One of his shinneuh got a tentacle cut off, and that's pretty much it. He hasn't moved an inch. He's not even paying attention to what's happening.

SIU's just showing some of his arsenal, and I've got to say that this chapter was visually stunning in that regard.
