Post is not important, just a random thought I had and wasn't leaving my head.

Irregular is interesting term because it's a Zahard term, by that I mean Regulars are what we call people chosen by Headon to climb the tower, and this is possible because Zahard build up the system behind it. And Irregulars are those who weren't chosen by Headon. And yet it has several more meaning : those who entered by themselves; or those who were chosen by the tower (Headon).

It's ironic that Irregulars are called thus when the OG test givers, Administrators, are only interested testing those outside of the Tower. It's like Zahard's system is trying to supplant the actual system, even more so with Zahard deciding Irregulars to be eliminated for they proved to be a threat to his empire (Enryu, Phantaminum). Funnily enough the Administrators humored Zahard, as if they didn't care his maneuver, most probably it will not bear fruit. And indeed, it failed to do anything so far, as Baam is climbing anyway (and maybe Urek too if anti-Irregular measure was set before Urek climbed).

It seems to me Irregular is not the proper term to refer to Irregular, the tower's chosen. But we weren't given it because it'll likely hint or spoil the tower's purpose. Or maybe not and I'm just overthinking over a word.

Term “irregular” is probably from headon or workshop.

before the 13 headon was not selecting any person
There’s was not system of climbing by then.

towers are made for the warriorto go in and complete the adventure so a new axis can be born for some reason they stopped so that’s why the gods outside
Intervene to remove zahard so the tower can serve his purpose.

this is for me, this what i think over this.. system, warriors and the tower.

Maybe 'testee' (lol) is a better term from the tower's/admin's perspective.

But they are irregular from the supplanted system's perspective, which is what everyone living in the tower is living under and familiar with.

My beef isn't with the term 'irregular' but REGULAR.

Because 'regular' denotes a non-ranker - it is a position of rank from those chosen to be tested by Headon (so, technically they are testees too, so there would be some confusion there).

And yet if I want to describe the opposite of an irregular, naturally that is regular. Those words are opposites. The former being those born outside the tower.

However, there are rankers born inside the tower - the vast majority of them. You can't call them regulars. Because they're rankers.

So 'irregular' means outside born, any rank.
'Ranker' means born anywhere, but ranked.
'Regular' means non-ranker, born anywhere.

There is no official term for TOWER BORN irrespective of rank. Because intuitively they would be called the opposite of those born outside the tower, irregulars, though regulars as a term applies to rank, not place of birth.

You can't even call them natives, because that is associated with the Native Ones as a species.

So we have to resort to the unofficial, literal term of 'tower-born' to denote the place of origin for most of the characters in the series, regardless of their rank.

That's the equivalent of calling irregulars "born outsiders"

You are missing an important bit of context here. Administrators are absolutely on board with the empire here. And as far as we know the tower climbing system is still pretty successful in its function towards the empire, which is to keep potential new powers in check. As far as we know the system does serve to preserver the power structure. We know that urek and bam made it through of course but urek was probably too powerful to contain at such a low level to begin with and bam made it past the second floor almost exclusively because fug got directly involved and kidnapped him. Also worth noting, it's the current system that even allows regulars to climb at all. Tower residents can't request admins for tests to climb. Cimbing the tower became a thing for tower residents thanks to zahard.

'Regular' means non-ranker, born anywhere.
Folks who weren't selected by Headon to climb the tower aren't regulars though. Beta for instance isn't a regular.

So 'irregular' means outside born, any rank.
entered the tower from the outside, born anyhwere, any rank is more accurate IMO.

While true, Beta is a one-off and technically a weapon.

Otherwise, I'm not talking about NPCs on the floors, they aren't really characters worth mentioning. Practically any character in ToG who is not a ranker was selected and taken to 2F, and is a regular. Who else matters to the story at all that's not either a ranker or regular?

But I see your point.

I got your point, we can add the workshop guys who don't fit in any but still of a very high importance plotwise.

Yeah, so creations categorically aren't 'born' in the tower per se either. They're kind of just robots or something from the sound of it. Androids.
