TBH, I have been wondering the same as well. Mihawk doesn't really seem like a bad guy either, so I doubt seeing him for a villain fight.

Will Zoro fight with his 100%, with intent to kill, after all Mihawk did for him?

I think so, due to honor and respect for himself and for Mihawk. Or if not that, Mihawk would probably trash talk him into letting it all loose.

Fighting with the intent to win doesn't mean they need to kill. Zoro has managed to cut a path through the Grand Line without any of his opponents dying. King got a wing cut off and fell from several hundreds of meters and was still alive to get his ass beat by Aramaki a week later.

Zoro and Mihawk have known the deal since they met on the Baratie (same as Luffy and Shanks). They'll fight, Zoro will win, and Mihawk will be rocking a brand new scar and a story to tell...unless he's killed by Shiryu.

let me just post my thoughts here if Zoro vs Mihawk is going to happen. I think it will happen because Zoro has mentioned time and time again he will beat Mihawk one day. Also, Mihawk promised Zoro after kicking his ass that he will remain as the strongest, hold his position as the WSSand wait for Zoro to challenge him. I think this promise is enough to confirm that they will fight. Looking at the trend, Oda likes to make characters fulfill their promises. Eg. Luffy making lots of promises in the story and keeping them.

This may not be a popular opinion but I feel that Luffy may become the PK first. Then Zoro will challenge Mihawk to get the WSS. Unless Mihawk’s role change and becomes a main antagonist then Zoro will defeat him and become the WSS before Luffy becomes PK.

I don't see any reason to doubt zoro vs mihawk will fight. It's one of the longest running plot points in the manga. Not having this fight pan out fully and meaningfully would be a massive betrayal from oda to the readers. Oda has murdered a lot of manga hype through the years but even the most egregious things he has done (like not showing the fishman karate dojo or wano being a post apocalyptic shithole with no samurai for zoro to fight and kaido's crew being kinda shit just in general) do not come even remotely close to the sheer absurdity of zoro not fighting mihawk for the WSS title.

It's also worth noting that right now mihawk fighting zoro is not particularly absurd. Mihawk is basically the cross guild's answer to actual yonko. It's not that absurd that the cross guild would be at odds with the strawhats going forward.

I think it’s going to come back up later on. If not why even mention it…All to just connect that the Swordsmith was from Wano…I hope that’s not the case and it has more purpose than that.

Maybe to mention the Kitetsu sword family, to hype up the Kitetsu 1 that the Gorosei dude (presumably) has. Now we know that it is a supreme grade sword

Yamato was forbidden from attacking by Momo. And that was obviously because she could have put up a decent fight against him. No win, but at least look capable
