Zeref is nowhere near the level of a Dragon God. He lost to Natsu. The small portion of Ignia's power he gave to Natsu would stoomp Zeref.
He lost to Natsu at their peak, Savage Flames which was enough to overcome infinite magic power which was enough to create a universe. ”Igneel’s” power was to supposedly overcome Zeref’s immortality, same thing can be said for END’s power. August and Irene scale to each other, where as Wendy could beat a DDK who scales to Suzaku who ”supposedly” defeated Selene’s human form, ergo, Irene and August are above Dragon God human form level. So for Gajeel, Sting got too power ups from Larcade and from Rogue which eating one’s elements is s power boost and even then Sting had outside help. I doubt that the DEs can handle the God Seeds who a weakened Spriggan spell could take out one.

I can see august and Irene being stronger than Selene's human form tbh. Maybe human dragon gods and human acnologia aren't equal in human form.
