I agree with you talking about the big picture, not so much in regards to Rei/Baam. I think Rei has effectively 100% checkmated him. But, i agree in saying it's a very risky move because i wouldn't be surprised to see Gustang/Hwaryun/Luslec waiting at the other side of the portal, if the BH's can't get to Baam, he has effectively lost. But i repeat, the plan of using Baam in the war from Rei had basically 0% chances of success rate from the beginning, now he just might get him to cooperate on the basis of a fair bet Khun placed for him.

Ah, I see. Well, I don't think it will play out like he wants, so it's kind of moot. If we start with the conclusion - that Baam won't be a plaything for Rei - then the risk he took backfired in retrospect. That's how I see things going.

In any event, apparently a marriage is enough to force Baam's hand, because Baam for some reason thinks marriages are "unbreakable"





Rei is in a greater predicament with Baam anyways, whether he realizes it or not. If Rei wants a Baam strong enough to take on another FH, then that means Baam must have both the power to do that and the balls. If Baam had both of those in the first place, he'd simply defy Rei. It's kind of Catch-22.

Baam and Rei had an agreement, participate in the competition, stay in the hotel until the lights turn on at that stage. If Baam leaves the hotel he is eliminated unless Khun striked a new deal with Rei or he manages to escape for good.

I think this from the beginning.

If he wants to use Baam, it means the guy has to become as strong as he or Gustang, even if Baam got married and had kids and Rei managed to create 1564546545 hostages, in the end, which would stop someone from cracking and just turning the fuck on up and cause a riot?

I prefer to believe that he's a V simp and he's been doing it on purpose all this time, because it's always been a reasoning that doesn't enter my head.

We don't know proto-FUG had set up Slayers before adding Hidden Grove.

We do know that there were first gen Slayers and that Genesis was very long.

Sure, he wants to play, but he knows that either he finds a way to use Baam in the war or he will have to kill him, when it comes to Irregular-Irregular deals he seems to care at least. OK, play that out. Rei wins, Baam is his play thing... and then what?

The entire trajectory of the story is Baam vs Zahard/his parents' murderer/the Tower tyrant/false pretense empire/etc - that aligns with FUG whether the latter forced him (very early on I might add). Baam is content with FUG. He's against Rei controlling him now that he has some level of agency, and that FUG has gone from puppetmasters to compatriots. Baam has no reason to fight Rei's battles, and every reason to fight FUGs.

I don't think Traum can actually get pissed off. I think Leviathan is not only Rei's Memories but a manifestation of his emotions, the strongest of which is his anger towards himself for w/e shady shit he did to V and Arlene. I think that is why he is how he is. Baam can certainly fight his way out especially since he has the knowledge that Levi told him in his stomach world(yeah I am calling it that from now on) and if Rei were to show up himself(probably after Baam face rolls those 2 BHs) Baam wil then unleash the beast so to speak.

So, let me get this straight, Cha was one of the defacto strongest leaders of the defacto strongest guerilla fighting group - so strong that Zahard had to make sure he was put on ice - and someone that FUG specifically sought out, but he wasn't special enough to even be a Slayer candidate? Got it, got it.

The same Cha that's just as strong now as then, and is basically being offered a seat at the table by Jinsung.
