The idea that we are consuming free chapters and so have no ground to complain is ludicrous. Does complaining becomes ok if were buying every weekly chapter? Fans will like some things and fans will complain about some things; you don’t complain if you don’t like something at the core, you just become uninterested.

You can complain all you want. I'm also free to mock people complaining about release schedules. That is ludicrous.
When did I even whine or complain lol? I don’t really give a damn, actually, but having y’all give people lessons is annoying as fuck so I was reacting to that, saying people are indeed entitled to find that it sucks and express it on a manga forum . Or are they just meant to say amen to everything all the time?
And even if they did complain a little, how is that such an awful scandal and disgrace? It’s human to be frustrated and express it.

No one gets to decide what comprise as “immature gobbledeegook” on a forum. We are here to discuss. Bashing someone for having an opinion on break is not immature? Especially coming after a month long hiatus. Fans are core to Oda just as his work is core to this forum.

Maybe someone else did one some other page but that’s the point. A lot of people come here to check on the latest stuff so it’s natural some might complain, lol. Not everyone is as updated on the schedule. No need to come hard just because of that.
At this point I’m being salty and wish for the Live adaptation to flop massively so that Oda understands what he’s done to us…

Criticizing without understanding the complexities of the manga industry is unfair.
I highly recommend watching Bakuman to gain some insight into how the manga industry operates. The consistent quality of manga art, especially in long-standing series, is quite remarkable in this day and age. Very few mangaka or comic book artists manage to do this while also improving their art quality over the years. So before making judgments, perhaps it's better to step outside and 'touch grass'—or simply appreciate the work that goes into your favorite series.

The author doesn’t need fans sticking up for him and getting all righteous on a manga forum, the guy is a millionaire worshipped as a genius over the whole world. It’s baffling to me why you’re acting like a seven years old is being bullied

Yes, I'm kinda sad for the next break, but...
it's not the end of the world and in the end I'll just wait like everybody else, but I love OP and this is just a simple human reaction from me: this is not a cult and I won't suppress my negative feelings, even if I know that they are childlish and I fully understand that the author is doing his best.

My main point is that it's completely reasonable for Oda to take breaks given the demanding nature of his work.

Well put it this way: The live action can't be any worse than how they've animated Wano. In fact Wano got worse as time went on. Whatever you want to call this 'shaky cell' or 'unfinished cell' style they're using to animate is just ridiculous.
Yes, I too wish the worst on Oda and the entire live action production team because I didn't get my contractually obligated 17-20 pages of One Piece a week. Not only does the live action need to fail, Jump needs to fire Oda. That'll learn him.
Maybe I’m just old but the breaks don’t really bother me. You all realize there’s a world to explore out there, right? Other series.. things to do.. People complaining about it probably fully utilize their PTO every year. If a customer told me they didn’t want me to be successful in what I’m doing because I dared take time off the product THEY cared about I’d tell them to kiss my ass.

Everyone acting so shocked at three people complaining and using that occasion to act like they’re the real good fans and the rest of us are trash is bonkers.
That's why we have these current breaks, to make sure that doesn't happen. We don't want another Togashi situation where we basically get 10 chapters of HunterXHunter every two years because of his health issues.
Oda's current peer, Horikoshi, has been pushing himself and has taken more and more sudden breaks as of late. Last week, he only put out a 7 page chapter. And another, Tabata, just switched to a 4 chapter a year schedule due to his own health as well as health issues with his family.
If Oda needs to take a week off every month to keep things going as they are now, that's a fine trade off so he doesn't end up like them and this stuff with the live action is only temporary.
